Yeah Darrell, Amazon 9 times outa 10 is half the cost of parts suppliers. I check multiple places for my appliance parts, but usually go back to Amazon. Appreciate you watching. Hope your weekend is good

Great video Pappy, perfect step by step explanation. I got mad respect for you dude, your willing to figure out what’s wrong, find the part yourself and install it yourself, not too many people do that, you saved yourself substantial money and you gain a sense of accomplishment after the task is completed successfully. We need more people in the world like you, in all honesty this is something any person with a good head on their shoulders should be able to do, now reversing that wiring might deter people but it’s still not something that’s so impossibly difficult that you have to hire a professional. Great job, I enjoyed this one👍🏼😎🇺🇸

Thanks Stretch, really appreciate the kind words.. my pops taught me to always try and figure it out before you pay someone. It's a dying thing, now people just throw it out and buy a new one.. thats toooooo much money... I just got done putting in a mini split unit, but I did call a professional to vacuum it down and re size the piping.. it works nice.. appreciate you watching

everything went fine except it won't heat. the "power on" lights up when it's turned on but no heat. is this because the wires you mentioned are backwards? i don't understand the instructions for correcting this. do you just switch the red wires? i also don't see any damage to the burner itself, like you show in the photo. maybe it's not the burner at all, but the control switch. hope you see this. thanks

In my case, my element was burnt in two. And I bought an after market element. So my wires did not reach the way the new element was configured. That's why I had to switch the wires. I'm not a professional. But this was my solution to my particular problem, but if your element is fine, maybe your reostat is bad. You could test this by switching out the other large element reostat. Make sure it's the same wattage. And see if your element works, if it does then you know you have a bad reostat.. as I said I'm not a professional these ate just my suggestions, and please make sure the breaker is off, or the stove is unplugged, thats some nasty current flowing thru there..

Cool video. My Dad was always trying new stuff, he bought a flat top range back in the early 1970's. Man when you started talking about rheostats, over my head. I'm moving away from Teflon, to carbon steel and stainless steel. Not sure how well they play with flat tops. Any thoughts? Take care - Bill.

Ooh he was ahead of the times back then.. This stove is 18 years old, glad it lasted this long.. you can use any pan you want on this type. It's just a regular burner just covered with glass, so you have to be gentle placing things on it, like you wouldn't want to put a cast iron on here to hard. Lol. We've used stainless but man, stuff sticks to bad in them.. went thru a lot of vinegar cleaning them out.. now I use the Rock pans. They work pretty good.. thanks fir watching Bill, hope this video will help someone in a pinch..

@@PappysPotluck the trick to stainless steel is preheating the pan so when you drop 1/8 tsp water in it, it turns into a ball and rolls around the pan. Then you add your oil. Lots of YT videos on it. You still get some brown stuff stuck on, but you deglaze with onions and chicken stock or wine and reduce the pan sauce.
