Bosch Kiox 300 Review & Settings

- electricbikereview.com/forums... A complete and detailed walkthrough of the removable backlit color 2" LCD unit called the Bosch Kiox 300. This display panel is different from the original Bosch Kiox, which mounted magnetically vs. using a spring, and required a disposable coin battery vs. running directly off of the main rechargeable electric bike battery (the Bosch PowerTube 750 in this case). The Bosch Kiox 300 is lighter weight, has a larger 2" diagonal screen vs. 1.9", does not have buttons, and does not have a Micro-USB charging port like the original Bosch Kiox. The Bosch Smart System can be operated without this display, as it only requires the LED Remote. I covered the LED Remote in a separate video walkthrough.
Five active screens:
- Screen 1: battery percentage, assist level with colors (OFF, ECO green, TOUR+ blue, eMTB purpole, and TURBO red), clock, connections (bluetooth low energy BLE 5.0), settings
- Screen 2: power level infographic (dark color is motor power, light color is rider power, grey area is potential), current speed
- Screen 3: trip distance, riding time, current speed
- Screen 4: range estimate (dynamically updates based on assist level), battery percentage
- Screen 5: power (in watts), cadence (in rotations per minute RPM)
Two shutdown trip summary screens:
- Screen 1: trip distance, riding time, average speed, maximum speed
- Screen 2: average power, average cadence, calories, total distance
0:00 Removable (spring pivot mount), no coin battery, no Micro-USB
0:42 Screen size 2" diagonal, powering on with warning screen
1:13 Menu walkthrough, assist level colors, navigation buttons
1:51 Mounts (top tube or handlebar high/low), additional screens
3:31 Settings menu: adjust language, units, clock, brightness etc.
5:00 Certificates (Bosch eBike Systems are UL certified and IP54)
5:08 Shutdown screen with two trip summary views: eight readouts - Авто та транспорт
I prefer the Intuvia 100 monochrome display, larger screen which shows more info on one screen, i.e. battery, mode, speed and distance yet with the Kiox 300 you have to toggle between screens to see speed or distance

Cool review.. I cant see from the video but does the controller have a wire which links with the kiox dsplay base.. and then does the kiox display base have a lead going to the motor. ie the base is a pass through?

Nice review. Older Bosch Kiox display has a navigation screen (basic though) which shows direction and distance to final destination, when connected wirelessly with iPhone. Its a very nice feature, as I can have my iPhone in my backpack and still be able to see navigation points on Kiox display. Why new Kiox 300 misses this? Will it be available anytime in the future?
Great question, and I was also surprised that the new Kiox 300 and associated eBike Flow app lacks the navigation features that are present on original Kiox and eBike Connect app. It seems like a step backwards, along with not having an active USB charging port of some kind... perhaps the software will be updated in the future and we will get more features like navigation here?

Is this backwards compatible with a 2 year old Trek Powerfly ebike, 500W battery (Performance CX motor) with a Purion unit? What is the cost of the unit? Thanks for all your in depth reviews.
Great question Bruce, unfortunately it is not. None of the Smart System ebike hardware from Bosch is backwards compatible. You should be able to get an original Kiox display and button pad however, which offers many advantages to the Kiox 300 including an active Micro USB charging port on the base and GPS navigation when connected to a smartphone app using the eBike Connect App (vs. the eBike Flow app used by the Smart System).
