I have been blessed my entire life by growing up and living within 10 miles...the way the crow flies...of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Have enjoyed it since I was a child. When ya'll passed the state line and came into Virginia from North Carolina...you were very near me. This is a hidden gem that has brought joy to many.
Looking at this awesome video of Gods beauty & handiwork i think of all the pioneers & travelers in years gone by,& doing everything the hard way!!! God bless you all,& thank God for the oldtimers paving the way!!
We just got back from there. It. Is. Beautiful. Looking over the mountains you actually think “ My God, what an awesome God you are to have created this beauty”
I just watched this video and it brought joy to my heart. In this video I didn't see how far north you went but I live on a 40 acre farm that is a ten minute walk from the back side of my property to Mabry Mill. Mabry Mill is in VA at mile marker 176. I've lived my whole life here and my grandfather worked on the parkway when it was being built thru here. He busted rock with a sledge hammer all day earning .10 cents an hour. Small world! I must say I also watch and enjoy a lot of your Hillbilly Kitchen videos.
Becky I am so glad you got to take this trip you wanted to do and what a beautiful treasure of memories you will have stored up now. Living here in these Mtns I get to see this beauty everyday and it never ever gets old. God made all this and it truly is God's country up here. Love and blessings
Beautiful ❗👍🏞. Majestic. Praise GOD for awesome people and beautiful scenery. What a gift to journey there. Wow. Wouldn't it be amazing for a bunch of us to plan this journey together for great fellowship and camping and more?? HUGS and GOD bless us ev1. Ty Becky and Bret. HUGS and blessings
We are from Michigan and this was our go to destination every autumn to see fall colors. You will not be disappointed when you go back in the fall, and it's almost here.
Hi Nancy! We've never rode a motorcycle in Michigan, but it's on our list of places to ride. Bret has family in Warren, Mich. and we're wanting to go to a family reunion there next year. We can hardly wait to see the Fall colors on the parkway. Thanks for watching!
My husband and I love watching your video's. We use to have a motor cycle but because of age and health we bought a camper instead and travel in it. Thank God for you and Bret. You are both GOD sent. Thanks again
As we get older, the trips get more and more difficult to make and harder on our bodies. We're talking very seriously about getting a small camper, or a camper van. We won't give up riding motorcycles altogether just yet, but we're going to have to take shorter, easier trips on it. Since you and your husband rode a bike, you know exactly what I'm talking about. It's enjoyable, but very exhausting.
God's artwork. How majestic. My husband and I have driven the total parkway many times and everytime we are in awe. God bless you and thank you for sharing
WONDERFUL! I think bein's you had a rough start (weather) the days after the weather makes it so much the better and more appreciative of the rest of the trip! Ain't God the best for creating such wonderful places for us to go! I can see why it is called BLUE RIDGE!
God surly does have some wonderful places for us to go! And to think that this beautiful place is nothing compared to what Heaven will be like. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment Lisa!
I have just found your kitchen shows this week and am loving your style. I have had the opportunity of traveling different parts of the Blue Ridge parkway over the years (I live in NE Georgia) and am constantly amazed at the wonder and beauty of the parkway. I can not understand how anyone can see such splendor and still question that there is a God ... do they think all this beauty just popped out of nowhere? Thank you Becky for sharing your precious trip.
Wife and I just finished a three day motorcycle trip starting at skyline drive in Front Royal and finish around Lexington Virginia on the blue ridge parkway and we are hooked on the blue ridge parkway. We are already planning a trip this fall to explore all of the blue ridge parkway and we cannot wait! Thank you for your video!
First of all you and Bret were very brave taking this trip in such foggy conditions. This was indeed a beautiful trip one that I’m sure you’ll never forget. I’m 57 years old and I’ll never forget the many cross country road trips I took with my dad as a teenager. Traveling in a vehicle is by far better than traveling by train, bus or any other public transportation. I’m physically disabled so I truly appreciate when people are so generous to share their trips on here and in this case also a piece of your lives. Thank you 🙏
I love the Parkway. My grandfather worked on it for $1 per day. It did help them during the depression. He lived in Carroll County VA. You did a great job creating this video. Thanks.
Wow! A descendant of one of the builders! We must've watched a dozen documentaries about it's construction before we went to see it. I felt so bad for the builders because of the impossible working conditions that they had to endure, but also happy for them because they were able to feed their families because of it. Thank you very much for watching Lynn!
Those trips, freezing temps., rain, fog, and other difficulties are usually the most memorable. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment Patricia!
I made this same trip with my parents when I was around 12-years-old. I loved it then, and loved it with you and Brett. Many thanks for this, and God bless you both.
Amazing video and still photos. Makes you want to take that trip for yourself. Thank you so much for taking the time to share it with the rest of us. That is truly a beautiful part of the country.
Hi Grady! It's going to be one of the most memorable trips we have ever taken. If you ever find the time, I would highly recommend this trip. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment. God Bless You!
I have also been very blessed to live near the BR Pkwy in Central VA (near Lynchburg). We love to camp, kayak and just generally enjoy the scenery, people and small country stores on the parkway. For a tank of gas you can have an adventure and realize what our ancestors experienced in travelling through these mountains to make a new beginning in the West. The people here are very nice, plain country people who enjoy a simpler lifestyle. When you come back plan to visit Natural Bridge.
You’re one gutsy lady! Not sure I could have made that trip on a motorcycle in that weather. Actually, I know I couldn’t! But, once the weather cleared, it was absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing. 👍🏼
Im so happy for you both to make your dream trip. I love how you describe the roadways through the mountains as a sculpture. Very unique thought on that and accurate as well.
Oh Becky. Thankyou for posting this. It’s soo beautiful there. I’m so happy you n your husband had a great trip inspire the weather in the beginning. Glad your dream came true. God bless you both ❤️🤗🙏
I love going up in the mountains, through the Blue Ridge, and in the Smokies. We are really not all that far from this part of the world. We live in the Piedmont Triad section of North Carolina. To get up to Gatlinburg/Peigion Forge is about a four hour drive for us. I purely do love those mountains! Just to see the beauty from the Great Creator God, for me makes me in awe of all His love, and splendor. When I see all of that beauty, I sometimes wonder what he could do with us if we just let him.
Last year we rode in your neck of the woods. We rode the motorcycle from Knoxville, TN through NC to the outer banks. It was a fun ride, but scary at the same time because some of the people drive like it's the Indy 500, lol.
I started watching your video and just started to laugh. We did the Parkway several years ago and it was exactly the route you took and we rode in the rain for 5 days. There were times the fog was so bad you could not see the ground next to you. It was still a wonderful trip.
What an awesome trip. Thanks for sharing. My husband and I traveled around on our motorcycle a lot in all kinds of weather so I know how you felt driving in the rain. Your trip turned out perfect after all. So breath taking seeing God glorious creations.
What an awesome trip! I love the mountains! I lived in the Smoky mountains for seven years when I was a kid. Sis was born in Spruce Pine, NC & had her wedding in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. God bless you both.
Congratulations Becky on finally being able to make your long awaiting trip! It was beautiful, thanks you so much for taking the time to video and then share with us. You have such a steady hand while filming!! No motion sickness, thanks for that LOL... The Smoky Mountains are beautiful, reminds me of the beautiful Sierra Mountain range in Northern California/Nevada when I lived up in the South Lake Tahoe area and also the Yosemite National Park in Northern Cali. Looking forward to more of your videos. You are also a great narrator and have a very soothing voice!
I would love to see California and Nevada! One of Bret's bucket list trips that he's planning is the Sierra Mountains at Donner pass. (He's a history nut lol) He made me ride on the back of a bike to Custer's battlefield in Montana a few years ago. It took us about 3 weeks to make the trip. I had a migraine during that trip and I missed a great deal of the ride because I had my eyes closed. I hope we can make it to Yellowstone and Yosemite in the future. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment!
I've ridden the BRP several times. Some better than others of course. But the one that was most memorable was similar to yours. Foggy, drizzle, some sun, but never a hard rain. Thanks for the video and bringing back memories.
Wow what a good time!! I’ve been riding motorcycles for 17 years and still have never been on a actual road trip 😢. Kinda hard to believe considering I live in Kentucky and all this is in my back yard lol
Thank you. I moved to the southern Appalachians more than forty years ago and have spent countless hours riding the Blue Ridge and back roads with camera in hand. With all that, I never tire of seeing images around the Appalachians. I saw your recent tater soup video, via UA-cam's right side recommendations and after watching it and apple dumplings, there was this video. All the best to you and Brett.
If it were possible, we'd spend most of our waking hours on the parkway. It's breathtakingly beautiful. It's almost like a trip back in time because of the way it was constructed and preserved. Thanks for watching our other videos as well!
Great video! I have ridden the BRP many times in my biking years and I never get tired of it. It is truly a beautiful place. You did a great job with your music selection as well. Great southern accent by the way!
We went thru there in May to include Tail of the Dragon and both parts of the foot hills parkway. Weather was about the same for us too. We did 13 states 5,000 miles on our bikes.
The dragon is something we've talked about doing for years. We have 2 big bikes and 1 small one, a Kawasaki 750. I think the 750 would be the better choice for us on such a curvy road. Our only problem is how to get the 750 there to the start of the dragon because 150 miles per day is all our butts can take on that particular bike, whereas on one of the other bikes we were doing 600 mile days. We're only about 75 miles from the dragon, but we still might trailer it over there to save our butts. We love the long trips as well. We drove 10 states on one trip out west and I don't remember how many on the other. We racked up several thousand miles on those trips too. Maybe one day we'll run across you in our travels. Thanks for watching and God Bless!
Ha! You were up in my neck of the woods. If you get back to Virginia, please take time to visit the Peaks of Otter. You can walk up, or you can ride a tour bus to near the top and, I promise, you won't be disappointed with the views from the top after a short walk. They also have a hotel at the lake there. Crabtree Falls in Nelson County, VA are also wonderful to see. Unfortunately, many of the wonderful places I've been require a lot of tough hiking into the back of beyond, so I'll probably never get back there again. Back in the day, I used to backpack the area regularly.
Bret is semi-disabled, so very short hikes are about all we can take these days. We can take the tour bus up to the Peaks of Otter though, thanks for telling me about it. We'll definitely go up there. Thanks for watching and taking time to watch and comment!
In the California Central Valley in the winter time, we get valley fog so dense when you drive through it you litterally can't see you hand in fron t of your face and that ain't no lie! Coming from the Yosemite Valley we get down in elevation ther you can see the blncket of dense fog, woo wee what a drive it is to keep from getting nailed by an on coming car or truck and slammed into from behind!
We can`t wait to ride The Blue Ridge on the motorcycle. We rode it in the car in 2021, but have to do it on the motorcycle. We`re from Massachusetts so trying to figure out the best way to get our bike down there.
I was sorry to see your first two days were so bad. I think that stretch of the Parkway is - well, it really is not any better than the parts farther north, just too bad you didn't get to enjoy it. When we lived in Sylva that was our choice for a Sunday drive whenever we could afford the gas. If it had been clear your first day, you could actually see Brasstown Bald from Clingman's Dome. I really enjoyed the show, like going back since I had just done it alone not long ago and Sharon and I drove the Parkway to Sparta even more recently. God Bless you.
I remember the Sunday drives, they were one of the best parts of childhood. It wasn't that our first two days were bad, they were just very memorable :P We're planning on going back soon by car, possibly by convertible if the weather allows, to see what we missed. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment. God Bless You!
After hours on a bike, I wasn't able to walk even a short distance, I remember Little Switzerland, and we camped in Crabtree Falls campground. I would have loved to see the falls.
Beautiful! God is great!
Yes he is Paula! Thanks for watching and taking time to comment!
Thank you for sharing this and for showing us God’s beautiful landscape.

Thanks for watching and taking time to comment! God is wonderful!
My mom and dad took us on the trip when we were children with a camper. Spent lots of time in the smokies.

We just got back from there. It. Is. Beautiful. Looking over the mountains you actually think “ My God, what an awesome God you are to have created this beauty”
We might have passed you on the road somewhere. It is beautiful, and God makes the most beautiful things. Thank you very much for watching!
The earth was created from chaos

Thanks for watching Cindy!
Amen! God's wonderful Handcrafted mountains!
God's country for sure! So many memories for you. A motorcycle is the best way to see all the beauty. Bless you Becky.
I know you were in awe of God's goodness up there. I was just looking at the video. Be safe, God bless you both.
Yes I was! God is an awesome creator of beautiful things. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment Norman!

Thank you for sharing your life with Brett with the world.
Breathtaking, thank you so much for sharing. God bless you❤️
Thank you for the ride. Pray y’all made many more rides like this before God called Brett home.
That roadway is truly a national treasure!👊🏼
God's artwork. How majestic. My husband and I have driven the total parkway many times and everytime we are in awe. God bless you and thank you for sharing
We're going to see it again this year, but this time in a more comfortable van. Thank you for watching!

We love it too! We're planning another trip back there already :)

Love to do it on a cruiser.

I'm just riding along with you Becky. I agree Western North Carolina is awesome and beautiful.
The most perfect motorcycle road I’ve ever ridden on!
Im so happy for you both to make your dream trip. I love how you describe the roadways through the mountains as a sculpture. Very unique thought on that and accurate as well.

I had plans to get to Shanendoa state park last year. Then Covid hit. I am hoping this year I may be able to get there with my van and camp.
Great memories
We can`t wait to ride The Blue Ridge on the motorcycle. We rode it in the car in 2021, but have to do it on the motorcycle. We`re from Massachusetts so trying to figure out the best way to get our bike down there.
Great video and comments!
becket did a great job of narrating
Beautiful
Great video! I love the BRP
Me too!
Thank you , very good informative video

Thank you! I totally enjoyed it!
Thanks for watching!
Loved the video! ♥️♥️
If you are in north Carolina near little Switzerland take the short hike to Crabtree falls
After hours on a bike, I wasn't able to walk even a short distance, I remember Little Switzerland, and we camped in Crabtree Falls campground. I would have loved to see the falls.
