I have been surrounded by amazing photographers for my entire life in the places I've lived. For the past 27 years I have lived in Zion Canyon (Zion National Park). I know all of the professional photographers in the galleries and then some. Then there are photographers that photograph here often and from abroad. Your photos and videography are incredible and amazing!!!
They should give you an award for that first photo. It’s like we could « see » the chant through its breath. It is really wonderful, astonishing !

This was indeed super cool. I, too, have never seen it, but I’ve smelled it! And it’s soooo lovely! I have a wee parrot and every time I give him a kiss on his beak, I can smell his breath through his nostrils. It’s indescribable, but it’s so sweet and it gives you the same feeling in your heart as if you’re smelling a newborn baby, or puppy’s breath, you know? It’s the smell of innocence and nothing offensive in the slightest.
And to be honest, it’s addicting. 🙃 Whenever I give him a kiss, I have to steal *just one more* from him. I wish it was something I could capture in a jar or something, because it makes me sad that one day he’s going to die and I won’t be able to smell it ever again. I can look at pictures of him, watch videos, and feel beautiful feathers of his that molted that I saved in a memory box, but no more smelling sweet birdy breath with kisses on his beak. 😢

Hope you enjoyed one of my favorite moments in nature! Here are the settings for the photos, it wasn't very aesthetically pleasing to include them in the video haha.
Photo #1: 571mm, f/6.3, 1/640th, ISO1000
Photo #2: 600mm, f/6.3, 1/250th, ISO200
Thanks for sharing this, Stefano! The only question I have is, Do you shoot in Manual or Aperture mode? I have the exact same gear setup as yours, but shoot Manual, but keep ISO to auto. I guess, I shoot at 1/2000th of a second and that blows by ISO around 8000! Should try lowering the SS and see the results. Also great to see that you are shooting at the SS lower than 600. That's impressive.
Thank you! Majority of the time I'm in Manual with auto ISO. In this instance, I wanted to be really specific with my exposure. So I was in full manual. I think about 60-70% of what I shoot is below a SS of 1/640th. I like to shoot in darker conditions a lot haha.

I live in Oregon state Capitol, which is a big stopping place on the migration route, twice a year for the Canadian geese. Every year a few couples ( yes, fidelitous mates) of older or injured geese stay through the winter on the state prison grounds and other fenced areas, I love to see and listen to them.
Wow I just shed a tear because that breath looked like a DNA spiral... seeing a frequency.. so magical

This was amazing to watch. When I first noticed the whisps seemingly protruding from the beak (nearly said mouth), I thought to myself, 'what is that'? Then it hit me, its the birds breath during song, tweeting so fast that it's breathes look preserved in the frigid air, only to melt away a second later. Stunning.
