Jason X fits right with Leprechaun, Hellraiser, and Critters all got in common. Last things you expect is Jason Voorhees going against Captain Kirk from Star Trek.
I worked at a theater when this came out and watched it every chance I could sneak in. I've always loved this film and had to endure ridicule from friends for not just liking it, but buying it on dvd when it came out. When the space station blows up I still lose it every time. Classic horror comedy.
I was 10 when this came out and remember seeing the poster in the movie ads of the newspaper. I asked my dad what it was and he got all excited and took me to see it the next day. It was awesome. I know it's a bad movie now but I still love it
Once again, just like with Jason Goes to Hell (1993), New Line Cinema used their rights to the Jason Voorhees character to make another sequel, but was unable to legally include 'Friday the 13th' in the film's title, as Paramount Pictures still owned the trademarked title. While this film was a critical and financial failure in its initial release in theaters, it made more than triple the cost of production in DVD and post-theater sales. Statistically, It is one of the most successful 'Friday the 13th' films. Despite initial negative critical feedback, over time it has become more popular among younger fans of the franchise, mainly for its self-deprecating humor and inventive death scenes. The film only suffered a couple seconds of cuts to earn an "R" rating, making it the least censored entry in the entire 'Friday the 13th' series. Jason Voorhees' eyes never blink when they are shown. The first film in the Friday the 13th series to rely on digital effects for death and gore shots. Betsy Palmer was doing a play in Toronto at the time Jason X was filming. According to Palmer, one of the producers contacted her about possibly reprising her role as Pamela Voorhees, most likely in the holosimulation. They did not come to an agreement, and the character was not included in the film. at around 1h 21 mins) The music played during Jason's first look at the virtual reality Camp Crystal Lake is the same musical score as the one in Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981). One of the things which won over everyone to the concept of Jason in space was the idea of the crew seemingly killing Jason, only for him to be recreated into something even scarier via futuristic technology. The mechanism of this change ended up being nanotechnology. Once David Cronenberg came on board, he quickly noticed some problems with the script, and began rewriting most of his character's lines. According to director James Isaac, one of those lines was "I want him soft" in response to the request to have Jason cryogenically frozen. Screenwriter Todd Farmer based much of the film on Alien (1979), even naming one of the characters (whom he also played himself) Dallas, after Tom Skerritt's character in the Ridley Scott film. Kane Hodder's final appearance as Jason. Ken Kirzinger assumed the role for Freddy vs. Jason (2003), while Derek Mears took on the role for the reboot Friday the 13th (2009). This makes Hodder the only actor to play Jason four times. New Line Cinema loved the script so much that they gave the film three times the budget of the most expensive previous film in the series (which had been Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989), with a $5 million budget). However, during production, the budget was still wasn't big enough for creating many sets and effects, leaving many scenes in the script to be changed, or taken out completely. Although the movie was shot on 35mm film, it was then transferred to high-definition video to aid in the creation of its extensive and elaborate visual effects shots. This made it the first feature-length film ever to be completed entirely in the digital realm. Because Jim Isaac wanted the acting in his film to "blow every other Friday movie out of water," the rehearsals were videotaped on a camcorder for Isaac, who would then view them afterward to get ideas from seeing his characters in action. The problem was that, with all the script re-writes, a lot of the time Isaac didn't even know if what the actors were rehearsing was still going to be in the movie. Producer Sean S. Cunningham said what he loved about the script was they weren't telling the exact same tired old story the films had been retreading for 20 years. The character Adrienne is a reference to Adrienne King, who played Alice Hardy in Friday the 13th (1980) and Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981). (at around 15 mins) The space debris floating in space has "Cunningham Realty" written on the side. This is a reference to the name of producer Noel Cunningham, the son of executive producer and maker of the original Friday the 13th (1980), Sean S. Cunningham. The name "Tiamat" comes from Babylonian mythology. She is a goddess of the sea, who was slain by the god Marduk who then formed the land from her carcass. In Andromeda (2000), Lexa Doig played the avatar of the ship's artificial intelligence and Lisa Ryder played a crew member. In this movie, Ryder is an AI construct and Doig joins the crew. The scene when Jason snapped Sven's neck was originally a much quicker snap in the script. Kane Hodder felt it's been overly done and improvised the kill by having Jason instead slowly break his neck until you'd a crunching sound as he's twisting and squeezing his neck. Several of the characters in the film are named after screenwriter Todd Farmer's online friends in the PC game EverQuest (1999). Jason X" is the first "Friday the 13th" film to be rated "15" in the UK. Although "Friday the 13th" parts 2, 3 and 6 were originally rated "18" they were re-rated to "15": part 6 in 2002 and parts 2 and 3 in 2008. Adrienne's death is based directly on a death from season 1, episode 23 of The X-Files (1993). Roland, who is possessed by his deceased brother in the scene, kills a scientist by dunking his head in a barrel of liquid nitrogen and then smashing his head to pieces on the floor. The character Waylander is sometimes referred to as "Wayland". Like the character named Dallas, this is also a reference to Alien (1979), with the Company in that series called Weyland-Yutani. There is even a "Kane" (the Alien's first victim) among the cast: Kane Hodder, who plays Jason. Über Jason doesn't have a face under his mask. If he did, it wouldn't fit in his mask. Kane Hodder just had contacts that match his eyes put in. That way, the mask could hide Hodder's face while filming the movie. The character Janessa was originally named Jessica, after producer Sean Cunningham's sister. Colin Cunningham, who worked on this movie's visual effects is a frequent guest on the movie review UA-cam site Red Letter Media. An episode of Re-View mentions this during their Friday the 13th series review shows. at around 38 mins) In the scene where Dallas is smashed against the wall by Jason, the stuntman who did this actually broke his nose. In the scene where Stony opens the door and gets stabbed to death and his blood sprays in Kinsa's face, she screams. Melody Johnson's reaction was real. According to the audio commentary, the effects guys weren't supposed to spray the blood liquid into her face and it was accidental. She was screaming not because she just saw her boyfriend die, but because the fake blood substance was burning her eyes. The take was kept because of Johnson's authentic reaction. at around 1h 23 mins) The "sleeping bag death" scene was first done in Friday the 13th: The New Blood (1988). Jason repeatedly slamming the bag may refer to the fact that Kane Hodder had to re-shoot the scene in 'The New Blood' over and over, because the bag with the dummy inside was so heavy that he couldn't get it to look right. The shot that appeared in that movie was the final take, after Hodder got so frustrated and angry that he finally nailed it. Stoney's original death was supposed to be Jason slicing him in half with the sliding doors, but they thought it would be to hard to do so they switched it to the machete stab. Brodski is the second male character (and first African American) to kill Jason, the first being Tommy Jarvis. Rowan shoots Jason at the beginning with a Mossberg 590 Compact Cruiser shotgun.
I used to have a mega crush on Lexa Doig, who I first saw in GENE RODENBERRY'S ANDROMEDA. Throughout the JASON X film, I only paid significant attention when Lexa Doig was on screen. My crush was so focused, that I totally overlooked that Lisa Ryder was also in that movie, who is also in ANDROMEDA. Seriously! The presence of Lisa Ryder didn't click in my brain at all. I didn't learn about her until several years afterwards.

Jason X is like a secret lover that you don't want to confess to in public.
I was 10 when this came out and remember seeing the poster in the movie ads of the newspaper. I asked my dad what it was and he got all excited and took me to see it the next day. It was awesome. I know it's a bad movie now but I still love it
42:22 Jason got 'em
Lol
This makes me want a ghost of mars movie roast so bad
37:05 Idk why that’s the funniest kill of this movie for me
9:00 Dude PRFRFRFRFRFRRF BUAJAJAJAJAJA!!!! Billy's facial expression is priceless.🤣😂🤣
Jason Voorhees:-''Cory Don't Forget my Theme Song Drowning Pool-''Let The Bodies Hit The Floor.''
Did anybody else’s video freeze at the 42:23 mark? Or was it just me?
Jason killed them
50:55 made me fall down laughing 😂
I used to have a mega crush on Lexa Doig, who I first saw in GENE RODENBERRY'S ANDROMEDA. Throughout the JASON X film, I only paid significant attention when Lexa Doig was on screen.
My crush was so focused, that I totally overlooked that Lisa Ryder was also in that movie, who is also in ANDROMEDA.
Seriously! The presence of Lisa Ryder didn't click in my brain at all. I didn't learn about her until several years afterwards.
🤣😂🤣I always was like why in the hell would you walk up on Jason or anyone for that matter holding a machete🤣😂🤣
I love these bad movie roasts so much
I'm rewatching it for the third time :) THANKS GUYS, YOU ARE AWESOME
When I first saw this movie in theaters, the very moment I saw the two women from the show Andromeda were in this, playing almost opposite roles I was like "oh hell, let's see where this goes"🤦 lol
Korey, you the man! This is the best Halloween present. I’ve been waiting on this turd since you guys started these roasts 😂
How did he become Robo-Jason? Nanomachines, son!!!
Def a “so bad, it’s good” movie. I always enjoy it. Hilariously entertaining 🤣
I want to get this one in early, but please do 'Jack Frost' this winter. The slasher one, not the family one
OMG YESSSS!!!!
Absolutely yessssss
As early 2000's cheesy as it was, it's one of my favorite Friday The 13th films. 😁
Aren't all Friday the 13th movie's cheesy, tho?
@@percymiller8775 even todays horror films have cheesiness to them. I bet you a hundred bucks in 20 years kids are gonna ask what we saw in those corny horror films from the 2020's.
@@Devilsblood most horror movies now take themselves way too seriously I can't imagine 20 years from now people watching hereditary and midsomer saying man this has way too many jokes in it lol.
@@Anthonycheesman33 midsomer is pretty much a remake of wicker man
@@Devilsblood that wasn't my point basically anything could be called a remake of something lol.
42:20 Double toasted has zero money at this point.
2001 ... "only" 20yrs old. I won't say this is my favorite F13, but it's top3 after IV and VI. This could be topped ... by a Trek parody in which Jason cleans out the TNG cast, kicks Q's ass, and becomes the King of the Borg, after the Borg Queen captures him, realizes assimilating him is futile, and falls in love. Hail to the King, baby!
Two of the franchise's best kills are here: Liquid nitrogen face and shooting star reentry.
This is one of my guilty pleasures. So bad but I love it 😆 🤣
This can't be any worse than Leprechaun in Space
Haven't seen the 2002 movie in 30 years?? o_O
Going into space was a weird trend in horror franchises for a while: Leprechaun, Hellraiser, Friday the 13th.
Hey great video so far but it stops completely @42:23
Guess this is why it's unlisted. It was uploaded yesterday
they got zero money at that point so
Naw, Martin is just taking a breather.
"Yeaaah tonight it's me and you baby" 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Is the last 4 minutes of silence immediately after Martin says "...we have zero money at this point." intended to be interpreted as commentary on the movie running out of gas? Or is my dream just glitches?
*or is my stream just glitched?
The hilarious part is that the stoppage happens right after Martin says "We have ZERO money at this point..."
This is definitely one of the best Jason films imo but I can't even lie when I seen this episode I clicked so quick, I'm ready to see this shit 🤣🤣
Listen, this is one of only two movies that I ever had to walk out on. After Jason stabbed the head security/marine guy and he says 'it'll take more than that to kill me," then Jason stabs him again and the guy makes a 'yep, that'll do it' joke.........I had to walk out. I came for a horror/comedy not just a straight comedy.
But I watched it years later while drunk.....and it was great......while drunk.
Edit: other movie was Street Fighter with JCVD
This is still one of my favorite Jason movies of all times it knows exactly what kind of movie it it, the kills are especially fun to watch
Jason x and Friday the 13th part 6 are my jams. Lol!
You gotta love late 90 and early 2000s "futuristic" movies...
Jason X and Jason Goes to Hell are my guilty pleasure movies😂
I'm embarrassed to admit Jason punching the black dude's head off in Jason takes Manhattan scared the sh*t out of me as a child.
love the way Billy laughs at all Koreys jokes lol
When I was a kid I kept hearing about how scary Jason and Freddy are. When I was 12, Jason X was the first movie I saw from either series. Definitely not what I was expecting from all the Jason hype 😂
None of the Jason movies were scary but they were fun to watch.Freddy was just plain dumb except for the first and third one.I guess part 7 the New Nightmare was ok but I really didn't care for story
Even in 400 years into the future, Jason Voorhees is still making sure that nobody is getting some nooky.
Was it just me or did everyone else assumed there was something wrong with their internet connection? Lol 🤣
No.
Jason teleported his ass right in there and took out Double Toasted 😂😂
Honestly compared to the last 3 movies before this one Jason X is a masterpiece.
Last year’s bad movie review for Halloween: resurrection was hilarious i can’t wait for this one! 🤣 I never understood why the robot lady had her t*ts out I was younger 😂
How has Billy not seen this one? Jason X is a classic.
I really wish we got a proper fight at the end between Jason and that marine. That space suit he was wearing looked kind of badass; instead he just flies Jason and his dumbass towards re-entry.
He was supposed to have a knife with that dude pre-uber but it was scrapped smh they fumbled twice on it
This is literally the only friday the 13th movie I actually enjoy, because it knows exactly what it is. The holodeck scene is comedy gold.
Korey is a national treasure.👑
Do Vampire in Brooklyn! It got bad reviews when it came out but it’s aged well..
Yep Michael has been teleporting too since 1978 lol teleporting everywhere lol freaked Laurie out lol right in front of her eyes lol!
Jason like Michael if you catch him its temporary he's getting out lol
Predicted people killing each other in hockey in 2024
The problem was is that there was a delay with its release date and it was pirated.
Resulting in so many people already had watched it before even going to the theaters……
Out of all the Friday 13th it was the lowest grossing film and ratings
So there wasn’t that many people that hadn’t already watched it and the people that did watch it did not like it
Then the ones who were crazy about it so it got terrible reviews
it’s really sad actually… Movies making it into the theater was a victory because so many a released to video or were shelved
*I want a “shark tale” or Pootie tang bad movie review next*
Or Undercover Brother.
@@dedcaesar2325 that's a good movie. Think you mean Undercover Brother 2
