I'm always having trouble finding the texture or absorption of canvases, but don't have the money to keep trying different canvases. Thanks for making a comparison video! Wish more people did this kind of thing.

I just started oil painting and this was very informative, thank you. Currently I’m using the cheaper canvas pads that are pre treated with a gesso and I tape them to a piece of hard board. Again thanks for making this video.

Thank you so much for this video. (And a few others) I go into my local stores here and scratch my head for an hour with not much help from employees. THIS video was very helpful! I recognize all these brands but didn't know half as much trying to learn on my own. Thank you so much! I'm looking forward to trying the masterpiece linen someday. Maybe someday I'll have a sponsor. Haha
I lived on canned beans for a month, so I could afford my first Fredrix blue label canvas, and it was really nice. Ha!!
Your work is beautiful. I'm an acrylic artist right now, but I'll look forward to your oil tutorials in the future.
    Happy painting to you, too!

Hi Jason, you are most welcome! The linen is pricey for sure. Masterpiece usually has a sale once or twice a year (this year it was on Earth Day), which is when I've stocked up. Glad you are enjoying the art and videos. Nikita

Have you ever tried painting on Ampersand's Pastelbord? Its amazing! I really wanted to love Gessobord but I've experienced too many problems with the corners chipping.

Hey Rachel, I haven't used Pastelbord -- do you just use pastels or do use you use other mediums on it as well?

@@NikitaCoulombe the first time I tried it I used soft pastels on it. But then I tried using acrylics and oils and those work amazing too. I really love the rigid support. Last year I worked really hard on a canvas painting and one day a hole was poked in it. After that I started experimenting with different brands on panels to paint on and so far I enjoy pastelbord the most.

@@rachelrochelle3714 thank you for sharing! Hopefully this will help another person watching, who wants to experiment with different supports.
