As a decorator for 25+ years what you did there was absolutely spot on to what I do for a stripped wall. Customers are amazed to what can be achieved without a full re-plaster or applying lining paper!
This is the only video I could find that shows directly what to do, why and how to do it. Not too much talk and straight to the point! You're awesome! 💯👏👏
I’m glad I came across your video and paid particularly close attention to your statement of progress not perfection. I have an older home in need of a modern renovation and even with me breaking down everything to the lowest common denominator, doing a room or even a portion of a room in a set amount of time, I’ve made no progress. I’m disappointed in myself in that aspect at this point. I know it will be no cake walk. Learning and executing home improvement is a language in and of itself. But I would really want to show the before and after Or accomplishment of something cosmetic with this house no matter the size of the project. Having to go elsewhere to entertain company is getting expensive and old.
Hi, also we have busy life's aswell, and projects can be overwhelming. If you can, pick a project like a little bedroom then dedicate 1 hour a day towards doing room. but the trick is to do that hour a day, with time the hours soon compound or even if you are doing research on how to do tasks, that still counts as work towardsthe project, if i can give you any tips just message me on here.

Wow, really informative, thank you! One question, should the first coat of paint be watered down as I' ve heared this advice from a friend? Basically he suggested to get the cheapest paint and water it down 50/50 to create a base coat. But I've never heard this anywhere else.
Peeling wall paper and where the wall paper has been peeled in certain areas it has peeled down to cardboard. It makes wall not very smooth do I use filler in uneven areas ?
Is it advisable to clean the walls before painting to get rid of any wallpaper plaster residue and do I need to take any additional steps to remove wallpaper that's been painted over?
I give the walls a good sand down when dry the next day, never had a problem with paste residue. you can wash walls if needed or paint in zinsser guardz if you do have any problems. this video might help with wallpaper stripping ua-cam.com/video/TwWg1F4FLMM/v-deo.html
Hi great video mate. Just wanted to ask. You didn't mention anything about removing the glue leftover after wallpaper removal. What's the best way of doing that?
Thankyou very much, all ii have done is give the walls a good sand the day after being stripped, that has worked for the last 25 years, if there was a problem i would put a coat of zinsser guardz on.
Hi great video 👍🏾 Would you recommend giving a white base coat first even if painting the wall a different colour? Or would you base coat it with the different colour instead. Thank you!
Hi great vid! really perfect for what I need, quick question tho, do you use/recommend 230mm or 280mm caulking board? Or does it not really matter what size....? Thanks 😊👍
Steven, I wish I could fill like you, you make it look easy!! If you know your hole needs 2 fills do you still go ahead and paint wall first or can you fill straight away after the 1st fill is dry? Do you need to seal the 1st fill? Also is your coat paint of white like a primer, is it diluted? Thank you so much, Im learning so much from you.
Hiya! Glad to have stumbled upon your channel! I have just purchased my first home and have found myself with problem walls that were hidden behind frames and bulky furniture. What would you recommend for uneven walls? It looks like the previous owner gave up halfway during wallpaper removal and simply painted over everything. I have taken off the flaking/blistered parts of the paint/wallpaper and have no clue what would be the best approach in terms of leveling the walls before repainting. I have filled all the holes from screws but I can't bare to paint the walls as they are.. Any advise would be much appreciated! Thank you very much 😊
Hi mate, any suggestions on filling large holes? I’m using easifill and it’s shrinking and not setting, any suggestions? Should I take it all out and do it again? Or use toupret maybe
Great video but I have a few questions... If some of the wall had lots od bare plaster, some of it had paint, what would you do to the bare plaster areas? Are you supposed to mist coat just those areas? are you supposed to do anything else?
This is a phenomenal video, really raising my confidence now, that every wall can be fixed. I really hate when people go: reskim reskim. UA-cam is full of all those easy do this and that videos that never teach you anything about real life work. This is world class. Thanks a lot and all the best!
Hi Steven, I spend hours watching lots of videos recently, all I can say is that I’m a bit confused now, 1. First of all I have to remove the wallpaper, more likely I will use a steamer 2. Sand down and dust off the wall 3. in some of the video people using sugar soap to clean the wall, or recently I watched a video where he’s using ZINSSER prime sealer, and after that 2 layers of skim coat the whole room. Do I have to skim coat the whole room or just sort it out locally where necessary?

Game changer. Obviously not a diy tool but i could not live without one now

I have a new sander now lol.

Yes fill cleanly so you dont have very little sanding,

Whats lime plaster? Your video is great. Thank you for recording it.
Thankyou very much. I am not an expert on it, the used it years ago. Before plaster as we know it today.
_progress over perfection_ , that's a good one. Far too often I take too much time trying to get things right, much to the annoyance of the Mrs.
lol, perfection just does not exist, all we can do is our best and it will be ok.

You can fill it a 2nd time if you like, the first coat of white is not waterd down, it would be if it was bare plaster.
Thankyou Steven

Its just a white matt emulsion.

Sorry for late reply, i mostly use vinyl matt, thankyou for watching the video.

Did you fill with lime plaster?
No with easi fill
Can you also plaster after removing wallpaper
Yes, you can skim the wall, check out some plastering channels to see how its done.
Is your coat of paint a mist coat or do you prep it with undiluted emulsion?
You mist coat new plaster, i just coated it up in white first just to get a base to work of.

@@VladymirSL strip all the paper of all the walls, then see what condition the walls are in.

once you have your first coat on then filled, maybe 2nd fill were needed, then touch up filler with emulsion, then 2nd coat.
