This video is Komyoji Temple, which I wanted to visit at least once.
Komyoji Temple is the 28th Fudasho of the New Saigoku 33 Temples.
The founder of Komyoji Temple is said to be Hodo Hermit.
In the southern part of Hyogo Prefecture, there are many temples that are said to have been founded by Hodo Hermit.
I have introduced the temple in previous videos.
I have released videos of just a few of the temples, such as Ichijoji, Chokoji, Nyoiji(Nie-yoh-e-ji), and Sairinji.
In the future, I would like to continue to pay attention to the temples that have inherited the foundation of Hodo Hermit.
Komyoji Temple is a temple of the Shingon sect located in Kato City, Hyogo Prefecture.
Ashikaga Takauji(Taka-woo-ji), who fought against Ashikaga Naoyoshi(Now-yoshi) and is also an older brother, is a person with a connection to Hyogo Prefecture.
Takauji's mother is said to have been from the former Tanba Province (a part of Kyoto Prefecture and Hyogo Prefecture), and there may be many anecdotes related to this relationship.
The steep slope leading from the parking lot of Komyoji Temple to the approach to the shrine almost broke my heart.
With some effort, I was able to reach the main hall.
It was a steep slope, but when I went up, I think it was worth it.
A few decades ago, I read Yoshikawa Eiji's "Shihon Taiheiki" and Yamaoka Sohachi's "New Taiheiki", so I was interested in this temple.
There was a stone monument of "Komyoji Honjin Ruins" behind the main hall.
When I saw the stone monument, it was so quiet that I could not believe that there had been a fierce battle in this area nearly 700 years ago.
Though it is an unnecessary addition.
In the Battle of Komyoji Temple, there is a legend that the Ashikaga Naoyoshi army that protected Komyoji Temple consisted of about 5,000 men, while the Ashikaga Takauji army attacked it with about 10,000 men.
This is my layman's opinion, but if Komyoji Temple at that time was considered a mountain castle, if the forces attacking the mountain castle were only twice as strong, the attacking side would probably have been forced to fight hard.
As a result of the battle, it is said that reinforcements from Ashikaga Naoyoshi's army will come, so the attacking Ashikaga Takauji army withdrew.

今回の動画は、一度は訪れたいと思っていた光明寺です。
光明寺は、新西国三十三所の｢２８番札所｣です。
光明寺の開基は、法道仙人と言われています。
兵庫県南部地域には、法道仙人開基と伝わるお寺が多数あります。
今までの動画でも、そのお寺を紹介してきました。
一乗寺、朝光寺、如意寺、西林寺など、ほんの一部を動画で公開しました。
今後も、法道仙人開基伝承のお寺については注目して行きたいと思っています。
光明寺は、兵庫県加東市にある真言宗のお寺です。
境内時には、光明寺合戦の足利直義方の本陣跡の石碑があります。
足利直義と戦った、兄でもある足利尊氏は、兵庫県に所縁のある人物です。
尊氏の母が、旧丹波国(京都府と兵庫県の一部)出身だったと言われており、それの関係もあって多くの逸話が残っているのかもしれません。
光明寺の駐車場から参道に入る急な坂道には、少し心が折れそうになりました。
何とか頑張って、本堂まで行くことが出来ました。
急な坂道でしたが、上がってみると、それだけの価値はあったように思います。
数十年前に、吉川英治の｢私本 太平記｣や、山岡荘八の｢新太平記｣を読んだので、このお寺には興味がありました。
本堂裏にある「光明寺本陣跡」の石碑がありましたが、目の当たりにしてみると７００年近く前に、この付近で激戦があったとは思えないほど静かでした。
蛇足です。
光明寺合戦では、光明寺に籠った｢足利直義｣方(５千人と言われている)と、寄せての｢足利尊氏｣方(1万人と言われている)との伝承があるそうです。
素人考えですが、当時の光明寺を山城と考えると、それを攻める側の兵力が２倍だったとすれば、攻める側は、苦戦を強いられたのだろうと想像します。
最終的には、足利直義方の後詰めの援軍が来ると言うので、寄せ手の足利尊氏方は引き下がったそうです。
