Great video Anna. Excellent explanation re socialising v social connection. And yes, SO annoying when people say ‘smile’ in that sarcastic tone of voice they often use. Aaaarrrgggh.

Yes, I do like this type of video. It’s helpful to know I share a common experience with others, for example, people telling me to smile is irritating as hell. I’ve heard that for most of my life. The irritating part is when it’s usually said, I’m perfectly fine!

The part about everyone rushing you and yelling at you is so true! I went to a new dentist on Monday, and they just shoved me around everywhere and fired a million annoying questions at me. Then they took my blood pressure, and made fun of me for it being elevated. I told them it was because I was mad at them for how they were treating me, but they didn't care. I just got up and walked out before even seeing the dentist. I drove to a different place that was nicer to me. I think it's crazy that good people often get ostracized, while mean people often thrive in our society. I would say that I'm someone who doesn't really need socializing nor connection. I talk to two people in the whole world (you being one of them), and that's more than enough for me. I don't see people in real life ever. I don't have a friend or family that I see in real life, and I do just fine. I think a hut in the middle of Iceland with my guitar, computer, and internet connection would suit me just fine, haha.

First of all I think what annoys me but sometimes amuses me depending on my mood is how people assume that people who have Asperger’s are good at Maths and Science in a way that you might of had a degree at Cambridge. I have had that happen to me I ended up doing a bookkeeping course and struggled through it because of the amount of information I had to process. As for the smile thing I have had someone say that to me before and telling me to ‘turn that thrown upside down.’ It really was irritating. He was an irritating person anyway.

Neither myself or the other students in the Autism class in my year left with a GCSE in Maths.
