LIRR: Grand Central Simulation Trains Running Along Queens Main Line

While Grand Central service remained closed off to the public due to a faulty ventilation fan, LIRR had ran test simulation trains between Jamaica station Track 5 and Grand Central Terminal as part of a test to see how shuttle service would mingle with regular branch service. These trains ran every hour during peak times and every half hour during off peak midday times, which is how shuttle service will also run. LIRR Grand Central Shuttle service, named Grand Central Direct, will commence revenue/passenger service tomorrow (January 25th, 2023), with peak trains every hour (stopping at Jamaica, Woodside and Grand Central) and off peak trains running every half hour (with one running nonstop between Jamaica and Grand Central, while the other makes local stops at Kew Gardens, Forest Hills, and Woodside before continuing to Grand Central).
