Portable USB-C monitors are fantastic pieces of tech. Having a second screen on the go with no need for power or anything more than a USB-C cable is not only productivity-boosting: it is freeing. Not long ago a multi-monitor setup was relegated to a desk setup and you simply lost that extra screen real estate when on the go.
Today, we're unboxing a device that solves both of these issues and comes from a company we've honestly never heard of. I don't know much of anything about WIMAXIT, but I can tell you that this portable monitor is brighter than any that I've used and the touch input out of the box JUST WORKS. No drivers, no installs, no work whatsoever.

I'm watching this vid on a little Wimaxit 10.1" screen right now. (I have it set like a "heads-up" display on a swinging arm on my desk. Rather than have a huge monitor dominating the room, I can have a high-resolution little monitor I can position appropriately and then push out of the way. I don't like my work space to look like the interior of an air traffic control booth).
Anyway, I'm impressed with the company.
My monitor has the ports inset on the back, so the cables are somewhat hidden when mounted. The one thing I don't like about most of these modern portables is that the cables stick out and seem vulnerable. I'd like to see a small inset plug on the back so that there is some better flexibility when positioning the screen on a desk or table top.
Good idea about the inputs located at the back, however I think it would make the monitors a bit thicker, because the plug holes need depth room to work.
@@markuskildemaa2351The plugs on the back would still go in sideways, they just don't stick out of the edge. That's what I mean by "inset". Lots of devices use this approach. It would probably add a few millimeters in thickness, but nothing that should be a problem.
Devices are thin enough these days. After a certain point, who cares?
If anyone in your team has a chance to use this screen to interact with Samsung Dex I would definitely be gracious for that feed back. I've been looking for a decent screen and especially one that's touch that can interact with it well.
Can you let us know - in the full review - what happens if you plug this into an Android phone? Can we use this for some mobile cellular-powered productivity? (Not just Dex) thx
For your full review, I'd really like to see some testing on latency for that monitor. If it's so versatile, I would want it to handle game consoles and things like that, too.
Basically, my loungeroom setup has the TV, a Hori portable gaming monitor (excellent refresh rate, terrible viewing angles), and a matrix switcher for sending various devices to either screen. Nintendo Switch, nVidia Shield, DVD player, etc. I'd want it to be feasible to just drop this Wimaxit screen into my setup, and not notice any major latency if I use it for games.
Why not just use a PC monitor 🤷🏻
You need to give the complete specs of a device when you review it - like resolution etc.
oh he needs to now
i realize I am kinda off topic but do anyone know a good site to stream new tv shows online?
@Elliot Jordy Lately I have been using Flixzone. You can find it on google =)
@Elliot Jordy try flixzone. Just google for it :)

A. Does this work with Linux distros?
B. Will the touchscreen work if the primary device does not support touch?
@@matthews4159 What does this have to do with my question?
nope doesnt work with linux, the screen is not compatible with ubuntu or other distros. also yes the touchscreen does work even if a device isnt configured to work with touch.
Check with www.displaylink.com for models supported in Linux.
@@cameroncameron6800 Have you tested this device with Ubuntu? Also, which other distros? And which kernel?
Great vid! I'm not in the market for a portable monitor, but if I was than I'd definitely consider this one. Been watching the channel for a few weeks, and I love it!!
This looks great! I don't know how many times I've been in a situation where a portable monitor like this would have come in handy.
Excuse my rambling but I just have to say it ... I am not one to normally comment on vids but you guys are Awesome!!... I'm not looking to buy something like this but I love how you go into detail in your videos. I bought a Samsung Plus V2 64GB for $450 and got a Google mini free... Shopped around and looked at a ton of reviews and compared a lot. Why I mentioned that idk but your reviews are always 💯 great. I just had to let you know that your work is very much appreciated. Thanks!!
This plus a chromebit sounds great.
I'd like to see a rollable OLED version of this. Maybe burn-in would be too much of an issue with all the static UI elements though.
Elemeny although
Is the monitor compatible with any Chromebook? If so ... Can we use 2 monitors with a single chromebook?
I know your video is a bit old, but is the touch screen responsive? I am planning to buy one.
Could you do a video about Project croissant (a method to turn other laptops into full chrome books with Android and Linux app support)?
Any chance you can run a test on Samsung Dex compatibility, as others have requested? This would be an exceptional tool if it indeed worked.
Samsung Dex work
Is there anyway to use something like this with an SNES Classic mini console with some sort of HDMI adapter? I'm assuming the SNES classic doesn't support video via USB-C.
Very nice video, short and precise! Love that, a bit too expensive though. I have an Asus MB169C+, cheaper than this, only 1 USB-C port and no audio, but good enough to extend my PB functionality. But still good to see more products and they are definitely helpful on increasing productivity. One thing though, I know it's a sponsored by NordVPN but I think it would be nice if you could introduce how to use NordVPN on Chromebook easily in these videos or make one particular one. I am using VPN all the time (will change to NordVPN later this year) and found it very easy to use and having a peace of mind.
Hi. Will the monitor work with "only" using the usb-a to usb- c cable? Also, do you know if it will work with Mac Osx?
I have a different monitor that I was able to power and project from the type c to type c cable...but then one day it just stopped working... I have to use an HDMI and the power cable now and it breaks my heart lol I loved the one cord set up. Any ideas as to why this is happening?
Same here... did you solve it? Which are the exact specification for the dual USB C ? Thank you in advance for any info you can provide
I am looking for a 4k monitor that I can use while traveling on the road. Do you have any suggestions?
I love my Wistino monitor. I'm just having trouble connecting it at the moment with my HP laptop via JUST USB-C. It only works so far with the HDMI port-- which is a bit problematic for me since I want to work with 2 extra monitors.
can we that monitor as a wacom or drawing tablet
Wow! Definitely getting this! Thank you for the video.
My USB type C have just broken down. I've tried with several dual USB type C cables but the didn't work directly without HDMI cable... could anyone provide the specs for this cable? Thank you!
Could you also test/use it also as a video monitor? power via a power bank and signal via a (mini)hdmi cable from your dslr/camera. My camera does not have a flip screen... How easy is it to see yourself in the shade outside? thx, bart
How you try this on Mac ??
I have connect it via HDMI, then I need a usb c power right? I have a Surface so mini DP is my only option
The problem I experienced with these monitors is that so many android phones aren't compatible with them..I had a Lepow and tried Pixel,One Plus 6t and Realme x2Pro and none of them worked...seems that some Galaxy phones work but that's it as far as I know...I returned my Lepow monitor to Amazon but really would like to try different brand to see if it's same problem with phones...
my pc only has a hdmi output. is there an adapter available ? hdmi-->type C
it is touchscreen? i wonder know it that suitable for writing note
Hi. i want to know does it work with Vivo Nex, Redmi Note 7 Pro and Mi Mix 2
I read somewhere that Asus its coming out with its own touchscreen down the line. I hope you do a comparison between the Zen and this one. I was fixing pull the trigger on the new powered Zen GO, but now.....
It’s USB Type C, but does it require DisplayPort, or just any USB 3.1 Type C?
USB 3.1
usb-c 3.1 Gen2
Can you attach an iphone 6 with a lightning connector to usb c ?
Hello... May I know which Chromebook model is that? my HP G1 doesn't support touch after connecting... anyone knows why?
which mic u use dude? awesome vocal output
Is there a meaning to connect the screen to the pc with a usb c and power the screen with a wall charging ?
Screen resolution?! You have interesting content but you need to check your details
I’m a little lost.. so a potable monitor once u connect it to your laptop it works as a second laptop?? You can do anything u would be able to do as the main one it’s connected to?
it's basically turned into your 2nd monitor that you can extend or duplicate depending on your need.
Would hooking it up to a pixel 3 and powering it from there be an option and then hooking up pixel buds to it? edge case use I know but curious.
I can see how this will help me as an architect, show case my work to clients!! amazing
They even make a wireless hdmi thingy. So maybe you don't even need it hooked up with a wire at all
Do you need to connect it up to a device
I tried an HP X3 lapdock for my note 9, it works but it constantly glitches the phone and makes everything slow, hopefully no damages come and im still waiting for my refund
Can you connect it to a Pixel 3 phone ?. Thanks for the review.
Same question, does it support external mouse/keyboard when being connected to Android device? Any lagging when playing games?
Will you recommend this screen to mount on the wall and view CCTV 24/7?
Can we write/ draw using a pen on this monitor? Thanks and more power to your channel!
Hey... great... first time saw it... do you think I can use it as monitor for camera? My cameras are canon 5d mkii and sony a5500
I've connected it to my Canon cameras using HDMI, not USB-C and it works fine. Note however that when using HDMI you need to provide power to the display by plugging it into the wall or battery pack.
Would be nice to have the option for touch to reposition the cursor.
Can it work with WIndows? Chrome laptops have tiny bit of disc space so it's a not an option.
Great video. Can you suggest one that use pen. Thank you.
is it any better than Asus ZenScreen? It's from famous brand and cost even cheeper than this one
I'd like to know as well.
Do you have a Switch to test?
actually this monitor support switch, you can buy one and try it
Can I use photoshop with it and use a stylus pen too?
I like the idea of adding this to a phone to give you a huge screen for movies etc.
Does pen pressure works on it?
Hii Can I use this display with asus rog 2 Mobile Phone please reply me
Could you put it with a none touch screen laptop and still get touch on the monitor ,?.
Can you just use type C to HDMI, to just use the monitor and or power it
A good one is hard to find, can't disagree with your there
Does this work with a newer thunderbolt 3 (usb-c) Macbook Pro's?
Thunderbolt can stream two 4K screens simultaneously so I figure this thing won't be a problem...
@@ijsbert6174 What about touch screen?
Is the Zenscreen a touch or is there a touch version of it?
They are currently working on touch version.
I must know! Will Android Auto run on this???
Yes but you need to program that personally for using it for android auto
Can you connect this to pixel phones?
Any update video?
Can I plug a USB stick into the monitor to be recognized on the laptop?
no dice
Can I use this to turn Mac Mini into touchscreen?
Apple's products cannot use touch function ~ 99% sure ! only external screen can work with this
Work with pc?
needs USB 3.1 Gen 2 interfaces ~ i guess you don't know if your PC got this
@@charlierick5828 it has a blue usb 3.0 port or another way usb a 3 idk if it's 3.1 or 3.0 how do you check
@@fortitude9932 no idea how , you can try to transfer some big files to see the speed if it is USB 3.0 (USB 3.1 Gen1) = 5.0Gbps(500MB/s) or higher =USB 3.1 gen 2
@@charlierick5828 is blue hub now called usb a 3.0 (standard usb)and usb c is now 3.1 I'm so confused 😆
@@fortitude9932 it's said that the blue one is 3.0 , and the bluegreen port is 3.1 ~ shiiit ~ confused too..INTEL really did a good job
I need HDMI and I hate those that has HDMI to mini HDMI. Also this video is about portable monitor on phone or laptop. I'm looking for PC
can we use a pen like the surface pro 6
not work with surface pen for sure ~ you can try the others
out of stock at Amazon so dont rush to look
Does it work with MAC with touch ?
no
@@andycineofficial Why does it not work? Are you sure? Does it work with windows?
The screen colour seems off.
why the power usbc port? I would just charge my chromebook instead???
For HDMI devices. And if you don't want your USB-C device powering a monitor.
Anybody else's external touchscreen monitor just stop working?? (registering touch input); still works just fine as an external monitor.
What would be the Use-Case for someone having a portable monitor? I can't see this being used at home and on the go I would not have an aditional screen in my bag.
Actually this would be great for someone with one of the Samsung flagship phones that has Dex support built in. Dex converts your phone display so that it has a desktop style UI oh, so projecting your phone to a monitor like this gives a portable computing solution.
For me it would be great to have multiple screen for trading. Having extra charts on another screen whilst being away from home is a great use case for me.
@@stickii2131 I see, sounds indeed like a valid Use-Case I have not thought off.
I can see freelancers loving this - if you prefer to work with multiple displays, this is a way of having them without needing to rely on the client to provide them.
Does it work from a cellphone
yes Samsung Dex note9
Wimaxit 15.6
And to think I used to believe that Windows was the worst operating system.
Buying this
how do you feel ?
Y r u not touching it?
Don't question. 😏 Lol.
Ps4 slim/ pro testing please. Thank you
as far as i know , it can output as external screen.
glassy screen is a killer for a portable monitor ☹️☹️☹️
Damn you lookalike Gabe Moen...
Now that we know Goggle is basically hitler will you be exploring other technologies?
What is a micro usb c?!
"micro usb-c" ??? never heard of that, what is that ... maybe usb "micro usb" ???
and no specs in video ...
Or you can use an iPad with the duet app lol
Sounds great. Do it :)
Review the Vinpok Split. I'm sure it's a better product and slightly cheaper
Isn't it still a Kickstarter campaign
@@Mike01029 yes i think so. There is preorder on their official website as well. I'd like to see a proper review on the product before thinking about purchasing it.
@@stickii2131 yeah I'm still on the fence about the Nexdock Kickstarter, by the time they release I'm sure Samsung would make their own or something
Personally I'm wait the teach screen monitor to become more popular wen this happen will became cheaper and i will have butter tach support with meny application (program)

Why people need this device?
If this is a sponsored video, then, you should bring that intent front and center.
Watch the first 60 seconds of video. Yes, the video is sponsored by NordVPN. Yes, Wimaxit contacted him and sent him a unit to review.
I had one and it was garbage. Maybe i was unlucky but never again this brand, cheap Chinese product
No one should use a chrome book.
"the speakers PROBABLY sound great" ??? what kind of review is this... lame!
Um.... he said "Probably DONT sound great". Given their size not much should be expected of a tiny cheap speaker built into a monitor.
Was wondering if you have to Install anything to make it run
