Rutger's influence really made a difference. Hobo with a Shotgun isn't just cheap grindhouse entertainment, its bloody violence and raw emotion tells a powerful story of desperation and the ends to which a man must go to combat the evil in the world, and the dangers of becoming as bad as the monsters you fight. It's a classic tale of vigilante justice, up there with Dirty Harry. It's not just cheap grindhouse it's a man's soul bared on screen in the raw. I say Hobo with a Shotgun is ART.

Without Rutger this movie might as well been named Homo With a Super Soaker. Good thing they choose him the movie was like a time machine to the 80's Rutger action movies.

I adore Mr. Hauer, ever since I saw him in Blind Fury when it came out. I was a little boy then and slowly got captivated by his effortlessness and naturalistic style of acting. He may not be considered one of the greats, but he can do so much more than those other guys. Keep on rockin Rutger....BTW you need to phone the Oscars, they owe you a little gold statue for Blade Runner.

It's great to witness a truly cerebral and passionate actor discuss what makes films special and motivating. Rutger is the real deal, I wish he was utilised more often. I couldn't agree more with what he had to say regarding the "glossy" film convention.

I grew up on Hauer-movies, saw The hitcher at the age of 5 becouse my dad loved Rutgers performance, its one of my top favorite movies these days and i love the scene between Rutger and the girl in Hobo at the hospital, if you really listen to the music there, i really think its some kind of respect hint back to Mark ishams beautiful end theme score for the Hitcher, the opening of Hobo makes me cry, so perfect and deep and beautiful

There ain't many like Mr Hauer around that's for sure, and not many men reach even 60 and look this good. Sure he's a bit mysterious maybe a bit scary, but he's still very articulate and handsome.. The Hitcher is my fav Hauer Classic, he's perfect in it as Ryder, the sexy psychopath! :)

Awesome representation of the struggle of good and evil. Prime example of two wrongs do not make a right. Rutger showing more depth than I thought possible for him but he admits it was the direction he received. I expect he grew a lot from his work here. Excellent essay of right being victorious over evil. Good even loses the battles while ultimately winning the wars.
