I was at this race and will never forget seeing my very first GTP car being driven in anger. It was Geoff Brabham in the Nissan come toward the quick left-right-left on the opposite side of the front straight. I saw his car coming at a tremendous speed and remember thinking "Oh no...he's not going to make the turn!" Of corse he did make the turns and I was shocked that I didn't see a horrendous accident! Also was going over the footbridge afterward and the sound of those cars was absolutely thunderous. I was stunned at how loud they were. Ah, good times.
Thank you so very much for these blasts from the relatively recent past. A brilliant era with fantastic cars and drivers. Lovely to see the late Bob Wollek. Much missed and was thoroughly deserving of the Le Mans win he never achieved. More please!
Upload more of these please! Just upload the whole season. It would be nice to start the year from the beginning and see how the championship unfolded. I was a little too young to remember these so it’s like watching them new, and very exciting. Thanks!
I miss Sears Point with it no longer being in top-level Sportscar racing, and no, the layout IndyCar uses now is just painful to watch. I'm looking forward to more of these IMSA GTP races. As for anything more recent, if it pops up, 1998 with the old GT1s wouldn't go amiss. Also, 2001 ELMS and 2002 GA at VIR and Mont Tremblant. Thanks again for the IMSA GTP races.
I thought it was interesting that both TWR ran the 12 cylinder and V6 turbo (really Ford V6) cars while the Busbee Porsche team ran both an air cooled and water cooled version of the 962 with two different aero kits on both cars as well to try and beat the newer Nissan and Toyota GTP cars. BTW: I really miss seeing the Dyson 16 & 20 cars on the racetrack
This clip ends with a tribute to Tom Blackaller, a veteran IMSA race driver and America's Cup skipper, who tragically passed away while practicing for a Sports 2000 race he was scheduled to run at Sears Point.
The way the track flows in this video is amazing, now the track has a few crappy modernized corners reminiscent of the sharp, awkward turns and downright terrible no-flow layouts of recently designed race courses of today
Please post something with GTP, GTO, Racing events from the 88, or 89 seasons the content is so amazing sad those cross over races at Road America do not appear anywhere on here.
We have our team digging in the archives and should have more content by the end of this week or early next. Enjoy!
OMG this is amazing. A race from lime rock would be great :)
hopefully you have some pre 2011 Grand-Am races as well! maybe some Rolex 24's as well?
kriswascher97 1991 rolex 24hrs at Daytona in 720p 60fps would be so freaking awesome :)
