Big k charcoal looks good, which one is it, prefer the bigger lumps. Good video just bought a chicken beer can, Kamado Joe ceramic one, can’t wait to try.
Hi Collin. I used to use a few different charcoals. Always Lump charcoal and large blocks. Big K restaurant grade lump charcoal. 15kg bag. Been in contact with Alex at BigK they are really stepping up their game in the last few years. I'm going to do a new video soon, where I Invest the chicken with marinade ontop of a bear can! Look out for it. Enjoy the Kamado!
Nice vid! I see there are a few cooks with problems trying to fit the chicken in their Joe Jr. I’ve ran across this issue as well with my Joe Jr. What i did was placing my chickensitter directly on top of the deflectorplate. This might be a bit fiddly but it works for me. Hope this helps. We could use more Joe Jr. videos, keep ‘em coming!👍🏻
Hey Justin, originally it was a tight fit and I saw the top of the chicken was hitting the dome as it was upright. So I removed the grill grates and sat the beer can stand on the tripod. This way I had the deflector shields working. I did however think next time might be worth removing the top layer of the firebox.
Hi mate. Going to be honest I haven't had the chance to do new videos for a while and it's been a shame. But positive comments definitely motivated me to continue to do more. On the subject of Joe jr. By far the most dynamic one in the series. It works perfectly with the big joe. Most the cooks I do for mrs and I is on the Joe jr. Worth every penny. Good luck
Prep: 1 large chicken put in a bowl with water chopped up 1 lemon, malt vinegar 2 teaspoons, store in fridge for a couple hours. rub: dry off excess water with paper towel apply a good amount of olive oil for binding 1 table spoon paprika 2 teaspoons garlic granuels 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1 teaspoon black pepper 1 teaspoon salt flakes 1 table spoon mixed herbs
Hey emmgeevideo, good question! This also happened to me. If you can see I actually sat the beer can stand on the tripod. However if this is not an option if you remove the second ceramic ring on the fire box the grill sits a lot lower. Hope this helps!

Completely agree. That's exactly what I done in the end! Even so literally fell in love with how great the jr works.
Does this fit ok as I herd people just putting heat deflected with hooks right near the top of where the chorcaol ends so everything can fit

Love the channel mate! Was looking for a Joe Jr and you’ve convinced me it’s the one. Subscribe! 👊🏼

Thanks Matt! Looking forward to how it turns out
what does the beer do? adds flavour or its just to keep it moist?
Hi Ish. Two things... Keeps the chicken nice and moist. And believe it or not does add to the flavour. Does not taste of beer or alcohol...
My first beer can chicken hit the top of the dome. How did you keep that from happening?

what exactly does the beer do? i dont get it?
great video :)
That’s some serious cross contamination going here!
