  • The HDMI ARC is still the best way to connect your soundbar to your TV, but if you run into issues after you make that connection, then here are some settings in the TV & soundbar to try to resolve the issue.

Spent nearly a day trying to connect my soundbar via the ARC connection...it just wouldn't link. I could use my soundbar with devices plugged directly into it. But not my TV....turns out it was the cable..got a decent HDMI cable and it connected in 2 seconds after powering on again....sounds simple but I would never have thought a cable could make the difference...so thanks man.

Great video. I purchased an open box samsung q850a. It is synced to my Samsung 8000 uhd. I opted to use my firestick opposed to using built-in apps. The FS is connected to hdmi 3 on the television. I get sound and surround. Here is where it gets weird. I tried to play the Transformers 1 movie 5.1. The sound is good for a while, then cuts out and the sound bar shuts down. Other movie series with 5.1 are fine. Just seems when there are more packets of sound (action scenes) that it cuts out. Should I connect the FS to the soundbar instead? TIA.

My TV is a Samsung MU7000 and the soundbar is the Samsung HW-E450. There are only 3 sound setting options on my TV - Sound Output: TV Speaker, Audio Out/Optical and Bluetooth Speaker List. I can only get sound if I choose to use TV Speaker, even though I 'm pretty sure I have the HDMI ARC cable plugged in correctly (in at the TV, out at the soundbar), Anynet+ is enabled, and the ARC port source is chosen (in at the TV), since I'm using the HDMI cable for the TV and soundbar. I currently have the soundbar setting set as HDMI, even though one website said to set it at D. in. Neither setting has resulted in sound. I've tried both. By the way, I was getting sound with the optical cable (although the wireless subwoofer wasn't functioning). I have verified that both the TV and the soundbar have ARC ports, and that the HDMI cable is ARC capable. I would rather get the HDMI settings to work for audio, just because everyone says it provides the best sound. I don't know what else to do - if you have any suggestions, I'd appreciate it!

You're are welcome, as far as the Sub, check the volume for the Sub, that's usually a setting by itself, two, play music with a lot of bass to test it, TV show and movies varies when it comes to low frequencies.

If i connect the soundbar to Arc hdmi, will the surround always come on? I want to have tv speakers then if want sound bar to turn it on, as I have a roommate and the Els are next to each other. So I play when roommate bit home. Any suggestions. I have a 4k 5 input one out switcher. I am just trying to get surround bar sound to all my devices but able to have tv speakers first then option for surround bar, if possible. Currently I have the 2.1 sound bar connected tthrough optical on the TV. I have 3 hdmi inputs including ARC ON TV. I have dish hopoer connected to the ARC hdmi (not sure why) nvidia shield on another and the Switcher on other. The Nvidia Shield is my 1st choice for streaming but not always. On the 5 input switcher, I have tivo, I use often. Fire TV box use sometimes, Chromecast and a roku. I do not necessarily need the roku or Chromcast so those ports could open up. On the surround bar, I have an HDMI tv ARC out, a regular HDMI, optical input, USB, aux in, digital audio in (Optical) which I am using now.
How best to connect to have all devices so they all "including tv" can use the 2.1 surround bar-Sub and separately use TV speakers easily if trying to stay quite fir roommate. All suggestions for different setups and outcomes are appreciated and welcome. I definitely need help.
Also, a good suggestion - Link for a good HDMI cable 6' or best 8 or 10'. Maybe can use 6'.

Great videos. Just want to clarify how the HDMI ARC ports work with a set top cable box. I have a Vizo sound bar with only one HDMI port which is an ARC port. I plan on connecting that to my Vizio TV HDMI-1 port which is the ARC/CEC port. Currently I have my AT&T set top box connected to this port. If I move this HDMI cable from my AT&T set top box to, for example HDMI-3 on my TV, then when I watch TV via HDMI-3 the sound will come thru my sound bar on HDMI-1 ARC/CEC? Correct? If not, I will have to use the Digital Audio Optical cable.

out of the surround speakers when i watch any apps on the smart tv (amazon, netflix, etc)

Try removing the optical cable, since you are already using the ARC
Try connecting the Roku and the DVD player to the TV instead
Try changing the TV settings to ARC only
Choose the HDMI ARC port on the Receiver where the TV is connected to.
If HDMI ARC is not providing any sound from the TV, try using the optical and see what happens

Yes you can still connect them together, but you won't get the best of both world. Once you connect the sound-bar to the TV all the sound will come out of the sound-bar only, until you disconnect it from the TV to get the sound coming out of TV speakers.

      *Optical* Cord Connection
Set the TV volume lower as much as possible while viewing.

Since my LG CX55 has 4 HDMI 2.1 ports (used one for E-ARC from soundbar to E-ARC of CX55), I will left with remaining ports of, 1 spare from soundbar SN9YG and 3 spare ports from LG CX55. So I have 3 device to connect. Do I connect all to remaining TV 3 HDMI ports? Or can I spilt it to 2 for TV and make use of 1 for soundbar (which let me have 1 left for CX55 tv HDMI port). Does connecting to the soundbar spare port makes any different to the TV spare ports? Thanks in advance!

Have you tried control the volume through the soundbar only? The best thing to do when ever you have the opportunity to do it, is to upgrade your soundbar to one that can accept HDMI - ARC.

Hello, just bought a Samsung HW-Q70R soundbar and I have a few issues I can't figure out. First, when I try to use BT to listen to my phone's music it works for about 2 -3 min and then it automatically switches back to HDMI and cuts the BT off. Second, I keep adjusting the Sound Contol settings to where I'd like them to be but it keeps resetting all to 0 and I have to keep adjusting them. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank You!!

    • @ChardTheTechGuy
      @ChardTheTechGuy  3 роки тому

Hello, with the first question I would recommend that you not have the TV on when you're using the Bluetooth. Because if the TV is on the HDMI tends to take over the sound bar, which overrides the Bluetooth. As far as the second question it's hard to say what's causing that issue. The only thing I can think of is that each one of those sound settings is set for each different ports, HDMI and Bluetooth. If it continues doing it I would recommend you call customer service.

Elijah, it all depends on the source, not every media source is output 5.1 audio, no.2 for 5.1 audio you need an optical connection from the TV to the Denon. If you have it connected the right way and the Denon on the right surround sound settings, then make sure the TV/Movies on the Firestick is putting out 5.1 audio.

I would recommend that you connect the cable box to the TV directly in one of the HDMI ports, then connect the soundbar to the HDMI ARC port on the back of the TV. The TV will automatically feed the sound through the arc ports to the sound bar. So the only thing you need to do is choose the port on the TV that you have the cable box connected to. First, make sure you connect the TV and the sound-bar use the HDMI ARC on both ends. Then connect the Blue-Ray player to any other available HDMI port on the TV. Samsung will not respond, and their engineers are brushing off the problem. If you experience this switch to optical input and forget ARC. Apparently Samsung will not fix, address the issue, and their only suggestion is to unplug everything and plug it back in. Have done it a dozen time and now the tv doesn't recognise HDMI pass through signal. Put the optical cable back in and all better. SHAME ON SAMSUNG!
