1992 Cadillac Allante Start Up, Exhaust, and In Depth Tour

  • In this video I give a full in depth tour of the 1992 Cadillac Allante. The car back in the day was as impressive as it's history. Making trips to italy and pininfarina design, and cadillac's first $50k + automobile. It was updated in 1993, which was also it's last year of production, with the northstar V8, the first cadillac to be fitted with it. By end of production it was topping $65-70k. Liquid crystal gauges, unique interior and exterior make this car one of the most unique cadillacs built at the time. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

    It may have been overpriced, underpowered, and wrong-wheel-drive, but the neat look of the Allanté would go on to inspire the last generation Eldorados and Sevilles. When you consider that design dates back to the 1980s, it certainly aged well.

      GM has a lot of cars like that. Some Oldsmobile Toronados talked, many Cadillacs had digital gauges and onboard computers as early as 1981, GM began using ALDL (OBD1) across all of their cars very early on, many Cadillacs have true onboard diagnostics which can print codes and messages right on the screen of the dash or the fuel center.
      There was even an early electric car (EV-1) which was pretty decent, and an Oldsmobile with a touch screen CRT interface in the center console.
      How the mighty have fallen!

    • @AiOinc1
      @AiOinc1 4 роки тому

      @@mentallyhandicappedpoptart2649 The C4 had them in 1984 but Cadillac was putting trip computers in their dash boards in the late 1970s and full onboard diagnostics by 1982. That, and the Cadillac system shown here in the Allante is much more complex than the ones fitted to even late model C4s.

    This car looks like a mix between a 1992 Maserati Ghibli (AM336) and a 1989 Aston Martin Virage, which is good company to have. I'm from the UK and a big fan of Cadillacs, Cadillacs are special cars. This Allante was ahead of its time and going from the promotional video a really well thought out and designed package for the Cadillac driver to enjoy.

    There is so much information about this car that you could have shared. Like the fact that the body was built in Italy by a subsidiary of Ferrari by the name of pininfarina, or that at nearly $63,000 in 1992, it was the most expensive car Cadillac ever built and was not surpassed until over a decade later by the Escalade.. Or that it had a nickname of "the flying Caddy" because a Boeing 747 was specially equipped to fly 56 completed bodies at a time from Italy to the US where they were then fitted with their mechanicals components

    In GTA IV, the Albany Primo retains its four-door sedan design, but is influenced heavily by the 1987-1993 Cadillac Allante but has a four door sedan design most likely from a 90s/80s GM A-body, like the 1989-1996 Buick Century. The top of the trunk lid seems loosely inspired by 1992-2004 Cadillac Sevilles

    @abweiss I almost bought one of these (and a Reatta) a few years ago, problem with both cars is they used mostly specialty parts (and other electronic do-dads) which are difficult to replace. The Reatta had a little 4in CRT touch screen for its trip computer looked similar to Space Invaders, good luck replacing it.

    Curious.....Approx. how much were you asking for this car? You've probably sold it, seeing it was almost 2 years ago.... But if not? and if you did, what did you get for it?

    Gotta love that ugly legion of similar-looking buttons on the dash.
