This works so well! such a cool technique, I love it :-) The colors the texture, and the black frame all came together great. I challenge you to find a way to paint the center of the tank to tie those two halves together... I can't think of any clever strategies for that... but I bet you can do it!!!

Maybe _not_ tying it together is the way to go? Maybe the center should be inspired by Rembrandt? :D

Paint the center Bauhaus style to integrate the reds and blues?

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it.
Yeah, I'm trying to come up with something 😊 Perhaps van Gogh style painting but rainbow colors?

I love the colors and art is an expression of who we are as people so let the rainbows flow!

    Beautiful 🥰
I wonder how I can apply this to my Tyranids... maybe as a splinter fleet? 🤔

I think it has potential! If you do try it I would love to see the result!

Looks great, this is what came to mind when I first heard there was a chapter called rainbow warriors rather than the mostly blue scheme with a little rainbow on the helm.
The starry night one is also cool :D

It looks fantastic Emma - you really make our miniature painting hobby into more expressive art.
I don’t know if it works as camouflage unless the tank was in a pride parade 😂
I’m excited to see how the final tank comes out.
Ignore any silly people who don’t like rainbow tanks - I think it looks cool

Yeah, perhaps these colors aren't the best choice for camo unless you're on a very colorful world 😅
I usually try to ignore just thought it was important to adress so I wouldn't have to spend too much time on it 😊

Hmmm I kinda want to use this for an Ork army with artistic grots that brush paint on all the Ork vehicles and armour. In my mind at least, squigs would make lovely bright paint colours.

10:50 That's such a great point and it really made the model. I saw this on IG but the video is amazing, that's fantastic, Emma.
16:00 They can piss off, paint their models how they like, or click a different video. Honestly, don't respond to them because they like that.

This might actually be good technique for me to practice with because even though iv looked up many videos on it i just can't seem to get the hang of fading and highlighting

I really like the result. I'd like to see how this technique applies to smaller miniatures. I've been trying to get something similar with Bretonnian knights without success at all xD

Thank you! I'm not sure if it could work on smaller minis but I'm definitely going to try it out 😀

    1. I apologize for the stupid question in advance, but is there a reason for why you had the "warm" colours at he bottom, and the "cold" colurs at the top?
    2. The second one looks awesome!
    3. Have you thought about painting a "aurora borealis" colour scheme on a vehicle?
2:30 LOL! "A little bit of pink never hurt anyone!"
Have you ever heard about the "Rainbow Warriors" space marine chapter. I think they have been de-canonized, because they were named after the Greenpeace ship the French sunk, and GW didn't want to look like they were making a political statement ... or something. But I think you might like the colour scheme they used.
Now, I am on the complete opposite with you, I think this works only because it is a large, mostly flat surface. I think it would not work on something smaller, like a space marine.
And besides, to me, painting colours like this, ranging from the infra-red to the ultra violet range has always looked more to me like something the Tyranids would do.
I mean, they would not write numbers, or letter or entire slogans on themselves ... but they might paint something like this ... like how plants look when viewed by insects. Does that make any sense???

I really loved seeing this method in action, it is very counter intuitive but that is why it creates something that really stands out from a lot of the indistinguishable traditional blended approaches.
And let's be honest as a side note, validation of human rights and inclusion is the perfect counterpoint to keep in mind compared to the extremely political Imperium of Man that is founded on every conceivable bigotry and violations of rights in the galaxy.

I am not sure if you are serious or not. But I think a camo scheme like that could actually work!
Just google "poppy field painting" to see what I mean.
