I had the cheaper Jin Bao version which was virtually identical to this miraphone contrabass. The miraphone had a much heavier slide. I worked with the jin bao for about 6 hours across 2 days to try to get it to work for me as a low brass man. (see Singapore Slingers on this channel) The miraphone was better due to its heavier slide carrying more sound through, but neither worked very well for me. I sent the Jin Bao back. Another low brass repairman buddy of mine thought that something was jammed in the Jin Bao. But nothing was. Since both horns played similarly, they just did not work for me.

The contrabass trombone is a Miraphone and is pretty expensive. Jin Bao makes a similar instrument for a lot less money but having played both, the Jin Bao has a lighter slide and seems to lose some of the sound. I bought one on approval but it did not work for me and I returned it, others say it plays ok for them. The travel tuba is also called the Mighty Midget and can be bought from Wessex tubas. The big music houses can get the miraphone trombone. The Jin Bao can be had from M&M tubas or music in florida. Other people get jin bao's and put their name on the instrument sort of like stencil instruments of the past. I.e. Martin made saxaphones for Wurlitzer back in the 20s, etc.
