Brother, as a disabled veteran, I live vicariously through your videos! I haven't been off shore fishing since being stationed in central Alaska from 1990-1995. Thanks for another great trip! God bless you and yours!
Glad I looked up surf fishing and ran across this channel. Been 35 years since I've been to Gulf Shores and looking forward to our trip in June. Hope weather cooperates. Keep up the great content. Well deserved success keeping unnecessary fillers in your vids.
Stephen, you had me sitting on the edge of my seat! Living in the coastal area of NC, we had a fisherman with a hand gaff with the rope around his wrist that was pulling some kind of large fish in and it pulled him overboard and he was never found. That was about ten years ago. Take care of yourself and BE SAFE!
Gotta say that you and Viktor (Landshark) are the strongest fishers out there ! I'm impressed. You could pull an anchor up if it gave headshakes. Keep it up please
Thanks!! And I like keeping the small profile for these Spanish and also , it inhibits the action on these jigs for how I work it. But if im jigging it over a reef or on the bottom, I like a curly tail
You're so awesome, and informative, guess what, I'm gonna be there Sunday and plan on fishing early on the beach directly across from gulf state park. Come on and and bring mama she will catch more than both of us. Thanks for your channel
My wife and I come down to gulf shores every June and I love fishing from the pier! I know it probably won’t be open so I’m going to try to fish from the beach this year! Love your videos
Great video, "as always". Several years ago, I had a lot of redfish fillets and decided to break out my extra large cast iron skillet and do some blackening on them (redfish fillets). I had much more than we could eat, so I called a couple of friends over. They in turn called a couple of friends, who called a couple of friends, and I ended up with about 20 people at my house for blackened redfish. What to do? I also had some shark fillets. I decided to blacken those as well. Long story short... The shark was gone before the redfish.
Hey man my family just got a condo on little lagoon and I was wondering if you could give me some advice on fishing there because I fish freshwater and I am trying to get into salt water fishing
Berkley Gulp 3" Shrimp in New Penny color. 1/4 oz Red Jighead. You can catch anything on that! Also early morning and late evening, use a topwater like the Nomad Riptide Fatso or Zara Super Spook
@@BamaSaltwater thank you man so much you are a great guy and I gladly appreciate you for giving me advice I could not thank you enough for what you have done god bless you
I grew up fishing on the state pier back in the olden days of the 70s. Many Spanish Mackerel, the occasional King, Ling(AKA Cobia) life was good. Thanks for the video.
Another great video,I was wondering if you were gonna be fishing any of the piers anytime the first week of june I'll be fishing the whole week and was hoping to get to meet you and fish with you ,thanks for the videos
I really like the situations where you are fishing with a simple rig inshore. it wouldn't be too hard for the average fisherman to replicate your technique.
My wife, myself, and our three sons will be at almost that exact location in a few weeks! We were hoping the pier would be open. We’d love to say hi in person and have you sign some merch if you’d be open to it!
Which types of shark do you eat? I had black tip that I caught on that pier 30 years ago but that is the only type I have tried. I liked the blue fish caught on that pier when promptly bled and well cleaned.
Great news on the pier. Can’t wait to be back on the rail. But we definitely need to thin out the tax men some. Too many fish wasted on them. Great video bro! 👍🏻🤙🏻
Those blue fish make some of the best smoked fish dip you’ll ever eat. Try going that route with em and see how you like em. I’ll bet you start keeping a lot more of em after you do. We used to go catch our 10 per person per day when that was the limit just for smoked dip. We smoked what we needed to keep dip while we were there but when we got home all the blues, kings and bones from all the fish we caught got smoked and added to the dip. I miss coming down there at least 5 times a year since my accident. I plan on getting back down there maybe for a week this year or maybe even after the start of deer season and fish until 1 then go climb and stand and hunt until dark. That’s what I really loved to do. We used to fish after we got out of the woods and got the deer taken care of. Throw out some lines with an alarm for when we got a fish in case we fell asleep lol.
The video isn't over but that shark reminds me. I was shark fishing south of New Smyrna, Fl when my big rod shook once and bent over. I dove and caught it at the surf and buddy it was on. 45 minutes of what felt like submarine with an occasional shake and vibration in the line. Headed north in the current, I landed it over 400 yards north of my coolers n stuff. My PB black trash bag...
Man thats awesome👍👍 We were staying in the first condo west of the pier in mid april n were slamming blues n Spanish in the evenings from shore in that same spot. Cut one for shark and hooked up twice n lost them both. So many blues and Spanish i think they were hitting the FG knot and cutting off the shock leader.
There is an old expression that perfectly describes fighting a shark on spinning tackle. "Too much sugar for a dime". They are really hard on your reel's gears and tons of rods have given up the ghost messing with them. They would be fun on some of the new reels like the speedmaster. You could put the screws to them.
Any chance you could go over what weather and any tips when you go off shore? Do you leave your single engine running the whole time? Do you change your fluids or do you have a marine service?
Awesome video, thanks for sharing. Every time you threw a Blue Fish or Shad as we call them here in South Africa, I cringed!! They are actually superb eating fish and an even better live bait. One of those as a drift bait using a 8/0 to 10/0 circle hook will get you something large, be it a Zambezi Shark (Bull Shark), Big Couta, GT, Grey Shark/Spinner Shark, Blackfin Shark, Wahoo, maybe even a Dorado or a Tiger Shark, you get the point.
You should pop by soldier creek sometime, where I launch from. State record snook was caught back there this week. Only 7lbs which is kind of funny that it’s our state record; they’re rare up here.
Haha, definitely! I've caught two in there so far. Small but cool for Alabama. I wish they'd make them catch and release only in Alabama until they really populate properly.
Stephen, I may be coming down that direction soon and I plan to go surf fishing for small sharks within 20 pounds. What type line and pound do you recommend and also what leader? I would put it on a 7000 size reel
Hey Steven! Love your channel bro! I’m Coming through Alabama first week or so of August. Is it possible to schedule a fishing trip? I’d be glad to contribute whatever you request!
Sharks are so powerful you can barely hold them down once they're on shore and boy are they dangerous. Unlike other fish they can reach back and bite their tail no problem!
Hey Steve, hello from Ft. Hood Tx now that I started the comment I realized my question is stupid so i"ll redirect can you make 2 or 3 videos a year on special occasions of other Bama locations between (fresh & brackish) on foot or your small boat. I've heard that if you filet the blue fish and put it in a bowl of milk overnight it'll take some of the oil out of it.
Do you boil it in milk
@@ZaviaaDHagwood no, you leave it in your fridge.
Buttermilk helps a lot or Milk and lemon juice, dry it off then store or cook it! Not bad but not my favorite fish to eat
Blue fish have a great fight to them. But are fishy tasting if not bled right away and iced.
