I live in turkey and quit my well paid government IT job without a plan and with a little savings nearly 4 months ago. My family, collegues, relatives all thought that i'm stupid. I didn't die when i submitted the resignation letter and still haven't died yet :) I have always desired to study philosophy but never attempted to do it because of the financial lies. Now i am preparing for university entrance exams again at 27 and you can guess what i will study :) Probably i will never land again a job that pays well like the one which i quit from. I am trying to reduce my expenses. I want to do bachelors, masters and phd in philosophy while working on part-times i guess. After all of these educations, i don't know what i am gonna do next but i don't care. I realized that i don't have a dream job, i realized that i have a dream life. Yeah probably i am gonna live in poverty line and it's okay. I won't be a part of this consuming madness. I want to live the life which "i desire". I took the leap of faith and i don't f care :)

Be careful about what you choose to study in university. Unless you are going into Medicine, Law, Dentistry, Engineering, or something that requires strict educational requirements, regulations, and certifications then you may want to think twice. Also, isn’t the Lira loosing value?

I've been struggling recently trying to figure out what kind of life I want. Last year, I migrated from my full time job into a contracting developer job. Although, paychecks vary each month, I've learned to live off less and ultimately found my mental health improve drastically. Rachel great video and advice. I also think that best way to reduce the risk is to not to put all your eggs in one basket. Love the idea of building small mini or micro empires. Also don't forget it's not a race it's a marathon you plan for the long run and most importantly don't forget to enjoy life, and build a good network of people you can connect and stay in touch with. Always need the support for a rainy day and nothing like catching up with friends, mentors and your network for that support. Happy new year and best wishes for 2023.

Heya. I felt the same when I was working in a profession that wasn't a right fit for me, so I decided to work as a designer. I also felt what you felt when I am in a full-time job, so I planned carefully and quit to become an independent designer.
You mentioned "but if I continue like this I won't know what awaits me." --> The same sentence popped up in my mind countless times too.
Sometimes you gotta go with your gut. Plan ahead, take calculated risks. Change is not easy. After you take the leap, if you realize the new path isn't for you, you could always pivot. The point I'm trying to make is, I rather you take action than wondering how would your life become if you took the leap.
No matter what path you decide to embark on, enjoy the journey, best of luck to you!

I do miss great colleagues, but when you're at a job forced to waste time at useless meetings and getting pressured to do more with minimal raises, the benefit of self employment outweighs being a slave at a company that doesn't care about you very much. hmm.... no jobs in Malaysia is “high paying job” as long as you’re an employee working for someone, doesn’t matter what type of job/what company you’re working at...
I am speaking as a Malaysian... and yes, like you, I quit my high paying job from a very well known firm in malaysia 6 years ago after working in the firm straight out of uni for 6 years....

You wanted meaning and purpose. That's why I got back into easier, lower-paying IT work. I wanted the visibility and appreciation. In addition, I wanted something that was a 9-5 job and after that I could be done. No more 10-12 hr days.
