Hello. I have both autism and depression. Whenever I hear about this story, my heart breaks. I have gone weeks without showering, have over eaten for years on end, and much more when i was in a depressive state. If it weren't for my mom and dads help, I am going to be real, I don't think I would be here. It is your job as a parent to PARENT AND LOVE YOUR CHILD. I struggle to even think about what Lacey was thinking. Rest in peace.

I’m also on the spectrum, and I’m no expert or psychiatrist. But in my opinion, I think Lacey stopped moving and permanently sit in her couch due to her peak limit of overstimulation. When i get overstimulated by unexpected plans, i got overstimulated and shut down so i can see a bit of myself in her.

9:38 I saw someone with Locked In Syndrome a few years ago while I was visiting a friend in the hospital. It was a young boy. He was fully paralyzed and communicated using eye contact. I stayed overnight with my friend and watched as he helplessly tried to grab things around him. Pills, water, his bed remote, to no success.
I decided to help him. Although he seemed like he was fully conscious he was just frozen. I learned eye contact language (ECL) a few days later and started visiting him. That poor boy…

Abuse from caretakers is disgustingly common towards Autistic people; ableism is one hell of a drug. I have both that and Asthma & grew up abused by Special Education teachers until I was 13. Primarily emotionally, but I dealt with a little bit of everything. I even have my own near-death experiences. A lot of us do.
Sometimes, other children in the class who were bullying me would chase me in the halls when no one was around and would essentially almost run me to death; I would always run from them because some of these bullies were also known to, unfortunately, molest me. Teachers knew all of this but would shrug it off, saying they "didn't mean it." So I wound up literally collapsing onto dusty floor after finally getting them off my trail, and having to fumble for my inhaler-- which I wasn't even supposed to have, but carried since I stopped trusting adults by then. There were two incidents where I couldn't do anything but stare up at the ceiling, wheezing, and hoping a class with nicer teachers would find my body. Part of me was scared. But the other part of me hoped I would die. I'm 20 now and still have PTSD.

As someone with ASD I can only imagine how awful her death was, especially since ppl with ASD usually have a heightened sense of touch/smell/taste/etc. So it must have been excruciating to die like that. It breaks my heart and makes me feel grateful that my parents are understanding and caring. And often times I don't understand or sense when I need something, so having my parents around to check in on me is very important for me to live, so that I don't forget to eat or sleep. I hope justice gets served bc I'm sick and tired of criminals getting a slap on the wrist. Rest in peace lacy you deserved so much better 🙏🕊️

8:40 thank you sm for saying that. people think autism makes you inhuman, uncapable of feeling emotions and empathy. people are scared of us, treat us like psychopaths. generalize us. but if we talk ab only Asperger. it is really nothing more than just having a harder time w people. its like you have both anxiety and/or depression or extreme mood swings (loosing energy faster and out of nowhere as well as gaining energy out of nowhere) depression is so normalized these days but somehow autism isnt. so many people have undiagnosed autism. most like 40% of the world population. instead of seeing us as weirdos maybe just consider for once that we might just have it a bit harder than you? or even the same as you.

@@AUZZTIM I know. I’m saying the alternative for someone who is not autistic aka neurotypical is ‘Allistic,’ and imo Allistic is such a pretty fucking word like the way it sounds pronounced looks spelled it’s perfect so I consider it now a compliment to say/call or refer to someone who is allistic. But Lacey’s parents are so full of shit, I don’t think they can even be neurologically functioning correctly. They don’t deserve to be called something that has such a pretty ring and embellishment to it I like, so I would like to use the derogatory use of Neurotypical for sacks of fucking not even of sane mind people like them. Plus neurotypical can be a mouthful another reason why I like allistic better. I’m both neurodivergent and autistic myself, but I know the difference tanks to a wide variety and categories of my friends ranging from autistic to hyper ADHD, combined ADHD, inattentive ADD, and a few friends who aren’t on the spectrum at all but vibe with. I know the difference and understand it well, and I can’t say I understand/experience one of the other more not when I myself do not have ADD but merely a collision of a hybrid of both ADD and ADHD. I can’t completely relate to one and lean heavily to one side because I experience both simultaneously. Sometimes I do mix up struggles found in ADD/or ADHD and autistic burdens however which doesn’t help much.

also!! i wanted to mention, i know you're unaware because you questioned at the beginning if aspergers is apart of autism, while it is, it's an outdated and ableist term. it was made by hans asperger, who was a neo n//zi and people who use that term see autistic individuals as less than human. autism is just autism. there's no other terms, high or low rating, etc. we're all valid. but yeah, i just wanted to inform you for the future incase you think to use that term again. i know you didn't know what it was, so i don't blame you and i'm not mad at you. just educating is all :) i hope you have a good day!!

Lacey deserves a better life and a family than those two disgusting demons from hell who treated her like shit with no heart and soul all these years and still sees her as an animal instead of a human being due to their rat-sized brains, really.
And I am so glad that poor angel is finally resting in a better place with her other loved ones and the amount of comfort surrounding her. May your soul rest in peace, dear Lacey.

Oh my GOD. Those pictures of her in the couch were horrifying. I hope those parents enjoy their time in jail, they deserve every single minute and more that they spend there. They practically t0rtured her by leaving her on the couch for 12 years with no food, anyone to see, anyone to talk too, anything to drink!! Honestly, those parents don’t deserve to be called human.

As someone with neurodivergence, a lot of these cases really do scare me, like I was probably always one or two bad, uneducated, or neglectful parents away from ending up either like Chris chan at best, or lacy at worst.
God knows my parents aren’t perfect, but I respect the hell out of my parents, till the day I die, for educating themselves, and I, on my condition. My heart goes out to anyone in a position with parents who are uneducated in neurodivergence.
Also, if somehow, anyone reading this is a parent, who isn’t ready to handle an autistic child, please, just educate yourself. Or if you can’t do that, just put the kid up for adoption. Give the kid SOME sort of life in a better family who is actually prepared to take on the responsibilities of having a neurodivergent kid.

some more information from the case
Lacey seemed to have been aware and was eating the couch’s foam and her own feces in order to keep herself alive
The maggots must have been keeping her alive because they eat dead flesh and apparently did their job well enough to prevent sepsis
Apparently she had tried to move away from the pain but was unable to do so.
It was never confirmed whether or not she had locked in syndrome and some believe she actually had been restrained and her muscles had atrophied as a result
Her hair was so matted it had to be cut with a scalpel, it was also full of maggots
Birkham’s examination revealed that Lacey had suffered from starvation, a bone infection, COVID-19, and kidney failure, and that stage four decubitus ulcers, also known as “bedsores,” littered her ravaged body. These ulcers also contained live maggots.

but they DID happen- and they STILL happen- and people didn’t even try to check in on that poor girl. i’m not saying it’s the neighbors’ faults but at the same time- this poor, sweet amazing girl was pretty much murdered by her own parents and they didn’t even call the police??

As a person who was diagnosed with aspergers at 4 years old, it’s so important for the parents to be there and help. My mum has emotionally and mentally neglected me for the past like, 3 years I’d say. I’m autistic, depressed, have severe anxiety, and I’m queer, but not fully open to my parents due to transphobia. My dad tries to understand where I’m coming from seeing as he has anxiety and autism as well, but he can’t really do much to help me since he’s dealing with a lot of problems already.

Poor girl the parents are absolutely insane she can’t move if she has locked in place syndrome how could they think she’s going to eat or drink any water? They didn’t put any effort into cleaning her and they they left her to just use the bathroom on a couch until the even the floor under couch is rotting they definitely didn’t care about their daughter safety! They should at have life in prison. I’m pretty sure that will be will the only way she will really get to rest in peace.

  • @blackqweenmars
    @blackqweenmars 9 місяців тому +11

The fact that they watched their daughter there for 12 years smelled a horrible smell of it prevented police officers from eating for weeks and just went about it casually until two days after she had died a horrible death. It takes some level of psychopath you to watch your child ride in body and be completely fine with it or if you’re not completely fine with that act like you’re completely fine with it. If anybody I knew was melting on a couch, I would immediately seek to help them. The poor girl probably sustained some sort of trauma, or had some sort of phobia or something that made her not want to leave. I’m a person with autism myself. One thing I know is that no matter what disability you have unless you’re like paralyzed or something it takes a serious problem to make you just sit there. I heard about this happening to a dudes girlfriend before. She was afraid to leave the toilet until her body molded around the toilet, and she had to be cut from the toilet. The dude faced charges for just letting her stay there for that long.

This is actually disgusting, and the thing that makes this worse is that I have a friend who has somewhat similar life styles. Her parents are Christian but he’s trans, so he can’t tell them. They’ve told him to stop whining when he was crying for perfectly valid reasons. And hes only just now getting therapy after all this time. Even though he should’ve been getting it two years ago. And just to make all this worse, he’s autistic and so are his siblings.
