It will be awesome! It is crazy to me to hear people wanting or expecting revolutionary stuff all the time, it usually takes a few generation for revolutionary stuff to happen. I personally think it will be great no matter what.

Of course people want these crazy features, the camera phones are providing some of that (although with a lot of software help), which pushes camera manufacturers to improve their tech, to not have them eat further into their business. For the long wait, it needs to be be on another level, to put Nikon back in the top of mind for camera considerations.

@@waynerm002 True, true, let's see what they bring, personally I tend to just be happy with whatever they do, there is not a perfect camera at the moment and there might never be lol, specially since there are so many opinions and perspectives about everything in this world lol

@@felm.974 I hear you. The techie part of me is hoping Nikon brings forth some new technology that pushes the industry forward. I’ve said before, the old ways of trickling down tech from the flagship camera should change. That was fine in the photo days but, today most of the tech people want, they want it in a smaller more affordable device. If they can seek quadruple or more of the mid tier cameras, I think that would cover their costs from what they would get from having it only in the flagship unit that don’t sell as much. The multi-angle screen like Panasonic or Sony’s could be introduced on Z6 III and then improved to be used across others in the brand. I have some thoughts but, let’s wait to see what Nikon delivers on Monday.

The teaser didn't give away much. Pre-capture is nothing new, and an improved EVF is nice, but no one really complains about the Z8/9 EVFs, so nothing significant there. There's some improvements to video capture which are likely to be evolutionary rather than revolutionary.
We've been waiting so long that we do want to see something really exciting and revolutionary, but we probably need to temper our expectations as this is a mid-tier camera. We should be happy with Z9 level auto-focus and a sensor shield 😄

Camera manufacturers typically have top cameras with extra features, pre-capture isn't something we would normally get on the mid-tier cameras. I believe the specs game is going to focus more on the video side . Yes, photo side will get attention but, the new generation is focused on video as a big feature in their camera. As well as auto focus and image stabilization. With what Fuji and Panasonic has been bringing to their competitor product, with as long as we have waited for this camera, there is some expectations for a "do it all" system, similar to Z9/8, in it's price point.

I'm excited for the mid-tier users. Everyone should get into some of this Nikon glass and hopefully this gets the mid-tier crowd in and those the II's some nice new features.

I’m hoping for some improvements in video features and active cooling, 10 bit 4:2:2 this time not 4:2:0, 6K RAW with clean ISO in the lower and upper regions. Would make workflow faster if there is less noise to clean up in post, my poor laptop and I suffered during that 8K video, got PTSD now. 🥺

I would be happy if it catches the A74.

The A7 IV has some pretty decent specs when it came out, 1 year after Z6 II, so it should. This Z6 III will surpass it, as there are new tech now which the Z6 III needs to meet and exceed, if Nikon really wants this camera to take the top spot (as folks are saying). While it has the higher level of photo MP, the video levels have been surpassed by others already, that is where the Z6 III needs it's focus.

For me if camera has no STACKED BSI sensor, and Pre-Capture mode (IN RAW!! NOT JPEG!!!)- is landing in trash can instantly. I can not imagine upgrading up, without these features, thinking still it beeing absent in my camera from today, for next 5 years. No way.

Maybe one day in the future we will see stacked sensor in the mid to lower tier cameras. The Sony A9/9II has a 24MP BSI stacked sensor which sold for $4500. If Nikon puts a stacked sensor in the Z6 III and sells it for under $3K, with all the features you mentioned, plus what folks on the video wants, this would make it a top seller when it launches.

@@waynerm002 I might expect pre-capture, but for sure not stacked sensor. But if we look lower, there are OM-1 mark I, which were released in 2021 (?) with stacked sensor, today with price of 1,700$ and even x2.0 tc added for free.. That's a huge gap. I would be in shock if Z6III would have not pre-capture, because lastly I was thinking if every manufacturer will keep this feature only for top tier like a1/a9, r3/r5, z8/z9..

@@pentagramyt417 Fujifilm also has a 26MP stacked sensor in the XH2 S however, most people have a thing for full frame sensor, so those guys don't get as much attention. Maybe sensor yield from the manufacturing process (FF vs APSC vs Mircro 4/3) leads to less chips for full frame, which makes them cost more. I feel if the camera has the tech one needs, then it's the one you choose. I went with the Z6 II over the A7 IV as it had a better screen and ergonomics, the 33MP was tempting from a photography perspective but, the Z6 II felt better in the hands. Later, I chose the FX30 over the A7 IV, due to having a better screen, was more video focused and had active stabilization, even though it has an APSC sensor, it performs quite well. I'm not too much a fan of the cinema look, I thought I would like it but when I use S-Cinetone, I feel it is ok, I much prefer the Nikon look. Maybe that will change, who knows.
I'm hoping the Z6 III delivers a lot on the video front as I love using the Z8 for photography, it feels wrong to have it on a tripod shooting video. The FX30 typically doing most of the videos indoors, while I tend to shoot more photos when I have the Z8 in my hands. The Z6 III I would like to have as that lighter camera that I can do both photography and record video when I'm out and about.

@@waynerm002 Exactly, in short, a camera is just a tool, but the situation is harder for a lot of customers when they can not afford a two systems, with two different lens set up. Knowing the needs, sometimes we end up on the mid-top tier cameras. There is also a psychological effect, when you know camera was made for something, like FX30 you won't go out to do photography, but rather video. In addition, I'd say photography is a niche yet, a lot of people getting interested in, but I feel the "fullframe lobby" is really a thing, as a lot of people convice amateurs that "you need fullframe!" and the voices of these who say YOU DON'T exist in small number, that creates a big prices for full-frame, because there are customers, so there is a movement on the market. Amateur won't believe 1 on 10, that you don't need the fullframe sensor, there is likely no chance to defend themselves from that, they buy it at first, then they start thinking about what they really need and it appears they could buy something else, but they invested a lot of money so usually there is no combing back and lack of motivation.. Personally as a A7-IV + 200-600 mm owner, I can't say this is the set up I would like to keep, but I like what I get from that. It doesn't motivate me to go outside (mostly because of the weight combined), but when I got the pack of shots, I am really enjoying the quality of the photos and no noise at 12,800 if properly exposed. That's how the situation works for me... No soul in the camera. Just like a tool in hands, taking back all of the fun. I'd like to try Z8 + 400 mm f4.5 / 600 mm f6.3 primes, or OM-1 + 40-150 f2.8 / 300 mm f4, to see the differences. I am not looking for 3rd party lenses attribute, but rather beeing lightweight with good features and quality. Though I am not a videomaker, so this is the last thing I am looking at. Weight, compactness and quality on the first place.
