In case you were wondering who was your 44th upvoter, it was me. Thanks for the lesson on how to get my hatchet ready to use. (Yes, I got a Harbor Freight hatchet, it was $12.99. I got the last one at that price, after that they went to $14.99)
Check the handles carefully for the wood grain direction. If I am seeing correctly, yours is running side to side instead of front to back. In a hatchet it shouldn't become a problem but, in an axe it would be disastrous. Growing up in the Appalachian Mountains I would often use broken window panes to scrape the varnish or whatever finish was on the handle because it would bring up blisters when your hands started sweating.
Clamped mine down like this while I was scraping it and it was moving around just like yours :-P Glad to see im not the only one risking my life with a HUGE camp knife Hhahahahaha
@@RabbitHole-xyz hmmm. I actually made a quick sheath for it with about a 4x4or 5x5 piece of leather. Folded it hammered rivets along the edge and bottom an 2 holes where the handle would be. Ran a foot or so of paracord through them forming a loop basically. Pull one end and it secures the axe. Then wrap the cord around a few times and tuck it under. Works great.

👍🏻👍🏻
Just bought 2of these for my kids
problem is it;s like $15, but then you have to come up with a sheath somehow. that probably adds another $35. so now you're up to $50
You can make a basic sheath from an old jacket or jeans from the closet or goodwill for a lot cheaper.
They sell leather sheaths for axes on Ebay for ten bucks...
How many sheaths can I seek you at $35.00 each? 😊
