True in long run to much electronics is headache. In my personal experience we have old scorpio and it was not starting, we literally toe it went to workshop, the meachanic just replaced one couple which has some carbon and vehicle restarted in one go.. on that day I realize if there are so much electronics it will be headache in long run

While I love buttons, a touchscreen is also really good especially if you have co passengers. So a car with panoramic screen on dash with dedicated buttons just below it is my choice.
8:27 Toyota is also giving highly premium buttons with a nice feel in Lexus cars. Lexus cars these days give the feel of actual luxury i.e. touch & feel rather than fingerprint magnet screens.

Why don't more manufacturers launch RWD body on frame sub 4m suv like mahindra bolero neo? Sub 4m suv market is currently the largest almost every single brand have their offering yet all they're jacked up hatchbacks with no character or uniqueness.
I think cars should have a mode to either turn off or dim the displays automatically at night. There was a car company named SAAB who used to offer such a mode called the pilot mode. Edit: It was inspired by airplane tech as the company used to manufacture aircrafts

Personally a mic of both is good. Touchscreens have the benefit of allowing more features without making it too clustered. Yet there are various functions that should be kept to buttons like climate controls, Volume, next music, change modes etc. Buttons should be kept but screens should be kept as well. Screens should not be too big that they get distracting but not too small that they are difficult to use. Voice assist has it's benefits but currently it is unreliable and so we can't say it would be used in the short term. Anyways, it can't replace the feeling of buttons and slightly lacks functionality of screens. Like you can't remembername of every feature to call it.
We really miss those simple old school low cost manual transmission run hatchbacks, sedans and SUVs which were produced mass market and sold with need based simple mechanicals just a decade ago...! Now every car costs minimum two times more than what it used to be with a lot of unwanted new technology...!
Subscription plans to use features of a car you buy is ridiculous. Mahindra sells 4-5 lakh cars each year. Locking the features already available in the car and charging thousands per user, to unlock them for a year, is next level greed. It's not like they are producing something new each year or the use of features costs anything to the company. It requires basic maintenance cost which is dirt cheap for a car company. Alexa, sony, also takes a huge chunk.

you are partially wrong.....screens can include more functionality and yeah I'm not saying we don't need buttons....we need the combo of both and also, sunroof is useful, not me but researchers say, it makes the car feel more spacious and makes the cabin look less claustrophobic....maybe do some research before you speak next time.

I think its quite simple. Basic functions keliye buttons dials aur Knobs ho, and for displaying info Screen. Even for shifting info there could be physical scroller.
People are annoyed by the touchscreens. Companies think that it'll reduce the customer's efforts, but add some additional useless features, thus increasing the driver's pain to find the actually useful and important features
this is happening to mostly old gens and those who r weak in english or overall factor of understandability.....every thing has its own pros and cons....giving screen makes the interior more clean and yeah looks good to an average person. There should be an infotainment system that needs to do a few things like navigation, music and mobile notifications but, all other controls need to in buttons.

I'm happy with my Punch EV adventure, simple Fluorescent MID and basic 8" infotainment, with atleast dedicated capacitive touch panel, (would've preferred physical switches) but atleast none of the core car controls are via touchscreen and the most important controls (AC, mirrors, drive mode etc) are still physical unlike MG. If a misbehaved kid smashes the control touchscreen the car is screwed. Also with age you can have screen discoloration and green lines like smartphones
I saw the video of bmw x3 in carwow . They have increased size of screens but downgraded material quality and buttons . What also dangerous is that the x3's touchscreen became laggy and stopped working . Imagine if touchscreen doesn't work how could we operate ac controls through screen

Not just in one year, I can adapt to the buttons without knowing in my TIGOR XZplus but till date ( after owning for over 5 yrs) I very very rarely used the tuch screen coz it is really frustrating while in road.
Mujhe tata ki gaadi acchi toh lagti hain, lekin woh buttons ki jagah touch console dete hain, aur gear knob ka koi feedback hi nehin hain, aur direct sunlight main toh dikhta bhi nehin konsa mode selected hain. Lekin aab jo mahindra ka transition ho rha hain, woh toh aur bhi khatarnak hone wala hain. Main wish karta hu ki Harrier EV main 4x4 ko full physical with feedback rakkhe, warna problem ho jayega.
Recently purchased Skoda Slavia Top model. I can attest to the fact that touch controls for AC are most complicated thing in this car. Not at all user friendly. Second bad thing is it’s virtual Cockpit. Unnecessarily complicated without any actual upgrade in information. Should have gone for mid spec variant.
Isliye mere pas jo wagon r he use me bech nahi raha simple dashboard with practical features rather technological features no irritating simple car to drive with button radio . Keep a car like a car❤

Can you find a button on touch screen & then push it without even taking your off eyes of the road . Naa never with touch screen even that has big touch buttons. With physical buttons you can easily do it , as physical buttons may come in different shapes which let your hands know what that button is for just by feel & they are at specific spots so with muscle memory one can find them without taking their eyes out of the road with one hand . Another plus point on physical buttons is if one button doesn't work then 1 button doesn't work but with touch screen systems if software is buggy or whole touch system fails then nothing can be done to ACs , sound systems , . Its like a single point failure point .

I don't care what people think - I want screens. Multiple. Large, 12-15" screens in my car. With Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and everything. However, at the exact same time, I want physical, click-able, tactile, real buttons, dials and levers for AC, Radio, Gearbox, Handbrake, Cruise control, etc. And the more involved the better. I don't want a button handbrake, I want a level. I don't want a rotary gear selector, I want a real lever even if it is automatic. I don't want tap to increase/decrease temperature, I want a real rotatable dial. I don't want on-screen cruise control, I want it to be a stalk on the steering column, or buttons on the steering wheel.
Screens are less usefull in controls, you cannot use everything without seeing at screen, But in physical button, you can control everything without seeing

Buttons are more premium , thats why premium cars like rolls royce have more buttons because the feel better.
Actually, they're mostly chauffer driven, so they give more buttons to look premium nor gives functionalities like other cars with screens offer

Another plus point on physical buttons is if one button doesn't work then 1 button doesn't work but with touch screen systems if software is buggy or whole touch system fails then nothing can be done to ACs , sound systems , . Its like a single point failure point .
Buttons , Actuators , Rotary switch and Tactile switches are expensive for manufacturers given a single screen benfits the manufacturer ..
I only like cars with the traditional approach.I hate these screens and electronics.
Bikes are fine with tft screens. But I feel cars should not have moved away from standard analog dials.
Screens for information and buttons for controlling us the best combination . Like a laptop.

I don't care what people think - I want screens. Multiple. Large, 12-15" screens in my car. With Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and everything.
However, at the exact same time, I want physical, click-able, tactile, real buttons, dials and levers for AC, Radio, Gearbox, Handbrake, Cruise control, etc.
And the more involved the better.
I don't want a button handbrake, I want a level. I don't want a rotary gear selector, I want a real lever even if it is automatic. I don't want tap to increase/decrease temperature, I want a real rotatable dial. I don't want on-screen cruise control, I want it to be a stalk on the steering column, or buttons on the steering wheel.
When it Comes to screens Ford use in the most perfect way ... A full screen with nob
Buttons are more reliable than touch exactly I also feel hactic to use touch sometime in car I miss my old car these days
Bottom line is ac control should be buttons and volume should be round dial

Screens are less usefull in controls, you cannot use everything without seeing at screen,
But in physical button, you can control everything without seeing
