The way that bastard Bosman ended Doddie’s tour was one of the most cowardly acts ever seen on the rugby pitch. Doddie’s stoicism when he was told his tour was over was truly remarkable. Looking back with hindsight, it’s no wonder he’s facing MND was such valour. A hero and an inspiration to all, especially through these uncertain times we’re living through.
I must have watched the Living with Lions film about 20 times but after watching it the first time I have to fast forward that bit as it’s too painful to watch. Every tour there’s players who miss out due to injury but when it’s horrendous foul play like that it sticks in the throat.
@@jameswilson1984 The interesting things is 1. Doddie was looking to be playing Jeremy Davidsons role next to Martin Johnson in the tests. 2. Bosman actually ended up playing rugby in Ireland, Ive no idea what he was like but those who knew him said that he developed into a well rounded and decent man who regretted his actions that day. He died long before Doddie passed away.
A true warrior then and a fantastic person. He came to our club for a chat and it was totally obvious he was loved by players and he loved all, be it grass roots or a lion. Fantastic man, god bless you Doddie.🏴
