I remember watching this live on TV. By the end I felt like I had played. What a game. 2 teams filled with giants of the game. RIP Joost you were a joy to watch.
3:26 I stopped playing rugby eight years ago at the age of 52, there are aspects of playing that I don't miss at all and I particularly don't miss Sunday mornings and barely being able to get out of bed, but I desperately miss this! The five minutes of revving yourself up in the huddle with your teammates before the game begins, watching this almost brings me to tears, it's something that cannot be replicated!
I know, I stopped at 48 due to a permanent bicep injury and def had PTSD after for awhile. Why, well playing a sport that puts you in a situation where you'd be 15 mins into a game on a freezing rainy/sleety November evening, not feeling your fingers, seeing blood but not know where it's coming from, putting in hits, sometimes winning but not always, part of a team where you had made a difference but sometimes knew you could have done more. That 15 mins in you asked yourself, what the fuck am I doing, why not play cricket in the sun. Then 2 hours later in the bar, with mates, you are looking forward to the next game. Some game.
I genuinely love how we all dislike each other, and fight like cat and dog. But put the four of us together and we are unstoppable. That spirit once ruled the world
Brilliant game. The B & I Lions really shocked our nation, took us years to get over this loss! We couldn't handle the fact we scored 3 tries to nil and still lost! But when you have no reliable kicker, big gamble! Jenkins was a killer kicker, and Scott Gibbs and Guscutt were an awesome center pairing! The B & I Lions were filled with lots of characters! Coached by the brilliant Ian McGeechan
Some great players- Johnson, Dallaglio, Gibbs, Wood, Guscott, Hill & Townsend; some played in that series like great players Jenkins, Davison etc. and some were unexpected stars like Bentley & Tait- best Lions series ever!
On a lions video binge tonight, this is probably my favourite, some team, even if very few Irish players, but that’s the beauty of the lions, doesn’t matter.
He was. The age old question was answered about what happens when an irresistible force (Gibbs) meets an immovable object (the all time legend Os Durant). That had been talked up a lot in the series buildup. Result, Gibbs knocked Os on his butt. And that's rather a difficult thing to do...
I bumped into Neil Jenkins plus a 6’5” lock in their Llanelli club blazers & ties on the street late at night, slightly swaying, in central London in the late 90s. I congratulated him on the series victory and we shook hands . He took a moment or two to compose himself, looked me in the eye and said, “ where’s Stringfellows?”
As a bok supporter, well done Lions. Love Jeremy Guscotts words, respect.Jim Telfer was a classic.I cant believe we had Carel " hadnt even coached a primary school in one game" du Plessis as a coach. About as crap as Rudolph Streuli. What were Sarfu smoking ? Well done Lions.
Heart at 8:05 as quiet man Gus' slightly raises his voice "now let's play some fuckin' 🏉" ... Karma after 12:00 when 19 punches 8 followed by Gus' drop goal
Yes I agree which my friend should give the lions all the more reason to kick the spring good arses the lions match's are so special they the lions players shouldn't need much motivation.four great nations coming together as one mighty team playing as a team.you Welsh are playing some good rugby which in term makes it easier for Warren to play most of the Welsh team however because what happening at the six Nations the English players have a lot to prove and as a half English and Irish I finding it hard to pick any of England or Ireland players who Warren can pick and do a good job for the lions.any way good luck to all the Welsh fans and hope yours team go on to win the grand slam.
Just admit it!!! The Sprinboks were better than England in the world cup!!! 32-12. Go Bokke🏆🏆🏆. They played two less world cup tournaments than the other with 3 titels to show.
Did you spot the springbok fan gloating into Telfer& McGeechan’s faces when Boks went ahead? Nowhere to be seen letter on in the vid, firmly in his seat!
The Springbok fly half Henry Honibal was nicknamed 'Lem' which means blade in Afrikaans because of the way he cut through defences. He was put under so much pressure in the first two tests he was dropped for the third.
Honibal was the first player I ever seriously took note of and saw how good he was. As a young English lad first getting to know the game, he was awesome.
Jacq? Springboks - most competitive players & the worst losers- it is the best sport ever to watch a Boks’ chat show after a defeat- 🤣😂😵💫🙀hi- lar- ious
Lol who is it for? A question lingering on everyone's minds. Four countries trying to beat one and even if they win where is the cup kept. The players look confused when asked who do you play for 😁
You clearly don’t know anything about test rugby or probably rugby at all- maybe you think the Lions go on the pitch with 60 players?! There is a very good reason why select teams like the Baabaas with players from the world invariably lose heavily to National teams- the technical aspects of the scrum, line out & set moves dominate rugby & as we all know practise make the perfect.

Spot on. Frenemies.
Unstoppable? Don't the Lions usually lose?? 😂
@@Comerford1986 aye on the pitch maybe, don't often lose when it counts ball bag 🇬🇧
@@chriswade9871 If it doesn't count on the pitch, then when?? Bizarre statement you've made there, fella.
I agree with the second part but the first part is that the celts hate the English which is not reciprocated

Just like the shiver you get when your square peg round hole gets pegged
Bjp Gm123 You are very Low IQ,
Keith Wood. Beast of a player 💪🏉
As they left the changing room I was struck with how many leaders they had on the team. Brutal series of matches.
Some great players- Johnson, Dallaglio, Gibbs, Wood, Guscott, Hill & Townsend; some played in that series like great players Jenkins, Davison etc. and some were unexpected stars like Bentley & Tait- best Lions series ever!
My old schoolmaster, Geech doing it in the way he always has. Pure class, thanks Geech!!!
Tell you what, Dawson has thrown out some historic passes for drop goals
Best ever comment in a changing room......”he’s going to give penalties he’s a Frenchman” 😂
If he wasn't french we probably would have lost...
Plus Johnson’s one - “say the names Kruger, du Randt , Teichmann- they’re all gonna f*cling get it!”
What a set of players - and management!
What passion!
SO SO EXCITED about 2021, have my tour booked already
Ouch!

Gibbs was a monster on that tour

"Wally! First scrum, twist that bahstad du Randt roond!". Love it.

Jesus that's intense from 4:00....you can hear someone, maybe more retching with nerves and tension...incredible atmosphere, pressure, intensity
That's Jenkins, absolute nervousness before the game. Absolute ice cool under the highest pressure from any angle when it matters.

Quite what Richard Hill was doing on the bench is anyones guess.
He wasnt, he started the game at no.7, neil back came on second half after having a great tour
Rodber no 8 at 12 mins in takes a punch to the face. Wrong choice of player to try that with.
Francois Pienaar gave him two punches at Sarries and that shut him up for good.
thats a tiny dressing room
That ref was Dodgy as F&ck!!!

Waw what a horrible language the speak at half time
It wasn’t too long ago that black people had separate facilities in your country. A bit of bad language shouldn’t phase you
