Squier dares to experiment with guitars a lot more than Fender does. Maybe they're budget guitars but are perfect for modding and creating some wild axes. The contemporary series is awesome, maybe they all require some modding before rising up to their potential but by mere aesthetic value they're already collection items.

I received two of these a couple weeks ago. And didn't want to comment on them until I worked them hard. Nice workmanship, I just adjusted the truss rod and let the Floyd acclimate and stretch the springs. Finally locked the nut plugged it into my Marshall 20 DSL and Evh 2x12 no pedals. Holy smokes! I'm impressed, yes I realize it's a squire, yes the pick ups aren't emgs but this thing rocks, the clean tones are (I play funk) also are great. The dirty channel Wow!! I played the Hendrix strat and it couldn't rock like this beast. I got two of them because I know these are going to go fast. I have real Stratocasters, PRS, etc but this is fun to play! I've done 5 gigs with these babies, from country to metal. If you can't get a good sound out this guitar then you better start looking to play another instrument. Peace

This Squire is like the results of a heavy metal guy from the early 90's modifying his Stratocaster with the differences being a poplar body instead of alder and Squire branded pickups rather than EMG's. The difference in the sounds between the ESP and this Squire is close enough for me to think that Squire have emulated the EMG sound quite well. It is close enough to be explained by the difference in body woods, construction and string type.

It brings me great joy to witness you & a strat! Now I want one of those, I’ve always loved KK Downing of J Priest reverse headstock strat! I know your a Les Paul guy, & I respect your honest evaluations of these guitars. I’m a 56 year old man with a collection of about 30 guitars. I have some great axes that I scored for almost nothing, & you review lots of cost effective six string joy bringers. I appreciate what you do, I don’t care if your a kid, your right on target

Add 100$/€ to this Squier Contemporary strat that you can buy today (pink or green ones) and you can buy the Jackson SDX Adrian Smith Signature strat instead, very similar to this but has a much nicer 12-16” Compound maple neck, so more spice at lower frets where you mostly play chords and faster higher frets where you mostly play solos. Well worth 100€$ to get that jackson strat instead of this squier :P

This guitar is really awesome, I have just deal one in marketplace. For me the best in a guitar should be the neck, when feel comfortable with, the rest you can upgrade. In the case of this piece of wonder you don’t need to upgrade anything and the neck is perfect to my hands.
Thank you for the tip mate, I watched it here before having it and no regret at all!

I feel like I would buy this guitar A) because that white on black is awesome and B) as a guitar to use to get acquainted with a Floyd rose and active pickups. I've always avoided guitars with Floyd's cause they seem tedious to me. Always wanted to explore active pickups though

Having a Rectifier definitely helps the pickups sound better. I'd like to hear them through a more affordable tube amp or even a digital, as budget players who own those amps are likely the ones who are going to buy this guitar.

  • @ryanohlson4181

This thing is pretty sweet. I'd still probably choose a Jackson myself, but this is definitely a worthy starter metal guitar. Also, still not a big fan of active pickups, but the Squier ones sound way better than the EMGs, especially the bridge. So much less fizzy and harsh sounding, they sound pretty dang good for actives.

  • @Yetimusmaximus

    • @PhillipBlanton
      @PhillipBlanton 4 роки тому

In fact I was thinking of removing the "Squier" logo and putting on an upside down Fender logo so that it looks more like a left-handed neck on a right-handed guitar, but I think Squier earned their spot on the headstock so I'm leaving it.
      Update: I didn't. photos.google.com/share/AF1QipPxUUCYZNCv6kowUeWaiFHB6Wd7fFYJQvzA_2q30mv8o--7dB8k0vMIG7W6P_Z_pA/photo/AF1QipNpQhw_vugP6if6n95LVIcmRSadM9lS3BjQm6s0?key=cUtsSDdBYm1GYWVOOFg1SWM0UXlDUi1SV2dTc0ZB

The EMGs in the EC1000 sound warmer and more present. The Squier Actives sound a bit brighter and not as clear. This to me though sounds like the woods used in the body over just pickups. The Squier active don't sound that bad.

I just saw this video hahaha, I bought this guitar about 6 months ago, only I put a maple hockey stick shredder neck on it, with stainless frets, and I love it. For the money its a nice little unit. Very comfortable to play, and yes, it has a little weight to it,which I prefer. Good video dude.😉

I’m not a Fender guy. But I really like this guitar. Especially for the price. And although I like the EMG’s grittiness a bit more, those Squire pickups will most definitely work. Nice guitar. I don’t even need one. I’ve got the exact same ESP as you do. But strangely, I want that budget fender too. Why are they making so many great cheap guitars! Arrrrgh !!! I look around at all my 400-600$ guitars and start thinking, “I could of gotten another ESP!” But sometimes I look at my ESP and think “I could’ve bought 4 killer cheap guitars!” Lol. There’s no winning when you’re guitarded .

Recently bought one of the Seafoam Pearl Special Edition Mexican Standard Strats, beautiful! Solid build quality as well, just deciding which mini humbucker to install in the bridge (probably going with the Duncan custom shop Lil Pearly Gates). I do prefer Sonic Blue to Daphne Blue (especially with the mint pickguard), but both are great.

Man, I wish I had known these were available before I bought a Fender Standard Strat the other day!! I've always avoided the Squier line due to the tiny fret wire. But if these have jumbo fret wire, and active pickups, then this is a great value!!!
