      I had them on my first sportbike over ten years ago, and it wasn’t awful. They never failed, or anything. I ride a 2021 cbr1000rr now, and it’s about an inch taller than the 2006 cbr600rr was, but it’s never obtrusive. I haven’t had any problems riding the liter bike at stock ride height.

      @@thagingerninjer5391 I had a lowered bike once myself. Wasn't a big fan of it because where I live is all mountain Twisties. I live right beside the back of the dragon. I just upgraded from a 2020 R6 to a 2023 R1. I haven't did anything to the R1. I learn the machine stock before I start modifying them. I'll set sag and that is about it but I also where a full suit too.

    At 48 yo and 5’6” I am all about getting bikes that actually fit my body. That’s not easy as an adventure rider but low seats, lowering kits, and being selective about which bikes you buy can get you a bike that actually fits you and it makes life and riding so much easier and it’s safer. 👍🏾

      @urbanadventurer5 Рік тому +1

      @@swift23219 it really depends on the rider and how and where you plan to ride. That being said, to me, the best affordable all around ADV bikes for short riders right now are the KTM 890 Adventure with or without a low seat, the Aprilia Tuareg 660 with a low seat, and the new Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE with a low seat. I am considering adding the Suzuki or the Aprilia to what I have now or trading in for one of those. Both are great bang for your buck bikes.
      The best entry level ADV bikes for newer riders or those exploring adventure riding are the KTM 390 Adventure, the Kawasaki Versys X300, the Honda CB500X, the Kawasaki KLR 650, and the Triumph Tiger 850 Sport.
      The best somewhat reasonably priced off road oriented ADV bikes are the Yamaha Tenere 700, The Triumph Tiger 900 Rally, the Husavarna Norden 901, and the Ducati Desert X but they work best for taller riders and get pricey.
      The best affordable dual sports are the good old Suzuki DRZ 400S, the Honda CRF450RL with an ECU upgrade, the Honda CRF 300L, and the Kawasaki KLX 300.
      The king of the hill for most people is the BMW R1250 GS, which has a low seat version, but they cost a bunch and weigh a ton. It’s the most popular ADV bike in the world by far though.

      @@beem9335 hey buddy. It’s definitely taller. It’s a little shorter than a full sized dirt bike, but it’s still pretty close to that. I’m 5’5”, and I honestly haven’t ran into a lot of problems riding my 2021 cbr1000rr. The seat height is around 32”, and I have a 30” inseam, so I can’t ever flat foot both feet, but I always ride with boots and am comfortable juggling the bike back and forth on each foot. I always make sure I’m in first gear when I pull up to a light, and only put my left foot down, in case I need to accelerate forward to keep from getting rear ended, so it works out naturally that way for me. I do have a reach of over 72”, for some reason, so my arms are a lot longer than most people my size. That tends to help keep me from having such an aggressive riding stance all of the time. I can comfortably sit up on the bike without locking my elbows. I have found that parking spot selection helps me not have to push it around as much, because I’ll likely have to get off it to push it. Lol. The jokes from everyone I ride with are worse than the actual cons of being short in a tall bike. 😂

I had a pair of new balance shoes that were too small for me. I cut the sole off it and bought some logger boots that in themselves give me a 2 in lift. Logger boots are 1 1/2 sizes too big. Dropped the new balance sole into the logger boot adding another inch. Walking feels 95% natural, riding feels 100% normal. Worked like a charm.

    As a person with a shorter wife, I'm always looking at videos to help shorter riders, but on this one, as you shorter folks have to learn these techniques, know that YOU are the blessed ones when it comes to sportbikes, once underway, which is the majority of the time. The ergos are set up for Mark Marquez and other guys the size of horse jockeys. Even Rossi had to have his bikes' ergos made very differently for him, as a guy who'd be tiny standing next to the average guy was still a giant in the MotoGP paddock. Pure sport bike? Smaller folks are at an overall advantage everywhere except the parking lot. I'm not extremely tall at 6', but I might as well be the Jolly Green Giant on a supersport. My elbows bump into my knees.

    If you lower it, there is a formula, so research your bike.
    for example 2004 gsxr 600, if you do 2 inches in the rear, you do 1.5 inches up front. You can also shave the seat 1 inch.
    Twins are usually narrower than a inline 4, if you are a short rider go to a motorcycle shop and sit on everything in there. Some 600 have higher seats than 1000s.
    FZ07s are very narrow also.

  • @motojoe7493
    @motojoe7493 Рік тому +6

    Yeah, I agree on the lowering specially if the bike is mostly being used in the city, being in Asia(Philippines) the combined seat height, weight, short turning radius and that fat ass tank getting on your way when on full lock will make the bike impossible to ride if you got stuck in traffic here so lowering the bike makes it more manageable.
    Also, don't forget to lower your front when lowering the bike. I'm 5'4" and ride a 09 r6 and a low sus, low seat f750gs

    oh my gawd this video was so good. lmao. being 5'7 I needed to see this, especially since im looking at a aprilia. I thought perhaps there were aftermarket seat options to reduce the height but now with seeing how thin the seat actually is there probably isnt much that can be taken away aftermarket. I think once I get back to the dealer and perhaps sit on it i'll see if I have to have the suspension dropped an inch

    I’m 33 years old 5’6 about 140 pounds and I had a 08 r6. Loved that bike but it was a bit too tall for me. I had no issues riding or controlling it at all but I did have to use one leg at lights and use both my tippies lol got rid of the r6 about 2 yrs ago and just got a 2018 Ducati 959. Was gonna get a 636 but got a good deal on the 959. I fit great on the 636 but the 959 is a little bit tall. Not as much as the r6 but enough to be only able to use have of my foot when I have them both down on the ground. I don’t think I could ever use a lower link but I did consider once upon a time for my r6.

    Hey bro, I’ve got a 2023 zx6r now that I’m pretty much tip toe or one foot down on the ball of my foot which I’ve learned to live with but my issue has really been finding gear that fits me. I want to go to the track but I can’t find suits that would even close to fit either too long In the arms or the legs I’m about the same height as you at 5’6 any recommendations? Looking for decent street gear too honestly everything I’ve rode with is too big somewhere

    I’ve gotten used to one foot down as someone who is 5’1 and it’s fine in normal situations, but like when it comes to occasional time in group rides where I got to do slow turns/turns and do a quick stop is where I get all messed up and not so confident. my dream is ride an r1 at stock height lol

    I’m 5’ 1” and had a Kawi ZX-6R. It was way too high for me when I got it so really didn’t have much choice but to lower it. Went to a local bike shop and had them drop it as far as they could go (we’re talking more than a few inches). It was still a bit high so I shaved the seat. It was finally at a height I was comfortable with. I didn’t track the bike so I was wasn’t worried about zig-zaggin too low. Ended up selling the bike but now looking for something else I can modify 😁

      Pogi if you’re a first time rider, try giving the ninja 400 a shot. Very forgiving bike and the seat height is 30.9 which is comfortable height and not too tall. Slow maneuvers is everything when it comes to short people on a big bike so they don’t only depend on their legs. Once your comfortable riding you can master one footing
