It was the year 1988-1989 ... I really love this song. It reminds me of my childhood, my mom, my dad, my brothers, my aunts, my house, my dog, family parties on Saturday nights, and Sunday meals. They were such happy days when my only concern was to paint my drawings without getting out of line. Thank you very much Mr. Astley for making my childhood such happy days.
I so love this comment. Me too. I remember my life when this song came out. Everything about it. Where I worked, going out, listening to the radio in my car at night. Such happy, sweet memories of a younger me.💙
I am apparently your age. My 7th grade year was 88/89 and it's all still so meaningful to me. I absolutely love the way you worded your message. It just strikes a chord in me, there is nothing like this kind of song, filled with so much "yesteryear". Nostalgia runs high when these type of songs play. I look-back upon that time period so fondly, and I'm glad to be Generation X. Very glad to have grown up in that time period. Thank you for a great comment!
I truly believe in my heart that "It Would Take a Strong, Strong Man" was the classiest single record released in the 80s. That vocal performance coupled with that amazing guitar bit after the bridge and those backing vocals. An all-around flawless recording.
@@RocStarr913 And strangely (at least to me), it was released as a single only in the US and Canada. Also interesting to me that no other artists have recorded their own version since then.
@Ernie I totally agree! I've always loved that guitar solo and the wink to "Feels So Good" by Chuck Mangione (ua-cam.com/video/NDSBV0vTfTo/v-deo.html guitar solo starts around 5:20). I can't ever listen to this song just once...it's always gotta be a triple lol
I still have this 45 (single). Wasn't into anything else he did, but THIS song... I can't explain the massive appeal it holds for me. The chord changes are so sweet - although the descending hook that starts the song and is heard under the words "to ever let you go" were lifted directly from "Walk Away Renee" but whatever ... pop music always tends to mimic itself.
I love this song. I have no idea how I missed this song until today when Rick Astley was on Kelly Clarkson's show. I just played it about 20 times. This is one of my all-time favorite songs already.
Best song ever by Rick, loved it back then and still play it on my all time favourites. Brilliant performer and one of the best uk male singers up there with George Michael , Ed Sherran,
Definitely his best song ever! Both the melody and the harmony freaking thrill me... and as for his voice in this song ... no comments needed. Outstanding song!
More proof of what a fantastic decade this was for music. Nothing today is remotely comparable to talent like this and most garbage today will fade while songs like this will always be with us.
Rick Astley is the genuine true blue ultimate unique mega voice of phenomenal talent. He was a kid when he originally sang this song & he has only become better. This man has a voice that is a force to be recond with....& he is kind, giving, talented & a great husband & dad. Amazing!!! & soooo much happiness & fun. I am addicted to Cry for Help, Angels, Uptown Funk & much more. Thank you Rick!!!!
How could "Never Gonna Give You Up" have a billion views, "Together Forever" have 136 million, and this gem have less than 500,000? Of all his songs this was the best!
In his songs, he sounds sincere. That's a huge part of his appeal. Many guys will talk the talk never walk the walk. Just saying everything never meaning anything. The world needs more sincerity.
I was 16 when this song came out and I bought this album too. I met my very first love and she broke my heart. This song was played on repeat on my Walkman...bitter sweet memory!
On vacation from work and listening to some old freestyle. Rick is an amazing singer and we hope he is doing well. No one had such a strong voice like his.
God willing you may see this someday... Regardless, it's truth in my perception. This is my favorite of your songs and, in my opinionz yours is the absolute best voice from the 80's or 90's. God bless you , Sir... And much love for your work. God bless.
Beautiful songs, sang by a true legend. Rick Astley's music was part of a good era of music that will never be outdated and will remain popular to future generations. Regards, Denver. DHK
I'm crying... wonderfully nostalgic. When this song was released, I was a university student, enjoying my youth while wondering about the future. The 1980s was the best time for music.
@@callaco3176 i'm pretty sure they still keep the master recording (don't know what to call it) somewhere. they can scan the film in 4K like what they did to Dead or Alive video
I keep thinking, maybe tomorrow... ha! Amazing song about unrequited love and Rick's voice can move mountains. Thanks UA-cam for adding the "Loop" button!
Quel bonheur!!! Elles sont toutes belles ses chansons ses clips..Rick Astley vraiment une légende vivante 😉 je suis fan depuis toujours 💖 un artiste accompli et une voix 😚😚😚😚😚
I love this song. I saw the story where the writers composed this song to appeal to the US audience. It’s amazing what lengths the UK songwriters and producers went to just to captivate us out here. Still, I’m grateful for this. It’s probably my favorite song of his. Then Together Forever is my next favorite after this one.
Hello Rick .You are really so amazing and I love your voice and you are really so handsome.Thank you for sharing your video with me.God blessed you always.😍😍😍
I believe that Rick Ashley should also be appreciated as a musician, not just a huge meme. Wonder why Rick Astley is so underrated without his signature hit.
One of the most incredible but most underrated voices of our times. Wow. Wow. Wow.
Like he is súper famous
This song was #1 only in Canada. And we're gosh darn proud of that. Good man and a great singer.
Only Never Gonna Give You Up and Together Forever made it to #1 In Canada\USA
Wow what a voice for a 23 yr old. Talent beyond his years!

Man nobody writes and sings lyrics like these anymore.
They're too busy rapping about their vaginas to even pay attention to real music.
God gave this man one of the best voices in music history. Please give thanks to God and Jesus for your gift Rick.
Decades have passed yet the song remains timeless.
He sang it when i saw him last Feb in Cardiff

He killed it the other night at the mixtape tour
Topped only by his song hold me in your arms 🥰
This is it.
En mexico se necesita un hombre fuerte fuerte !!!!!!!
This sounds like a Motown song recorded in the late 80s by a young man from England with a soulful voice.
Songs like this remind me of how much I miss the 80s
