    Wow that was a brillaint video. I've been reading the history behind the Kasparov/Karpov World Championship matches recently, and stumbled upon this gem.Thank you GM King. The battle between the two Ks is surely the greatest in chess history.

    This takes me back. I was in my first year at university and had made it onto my university’s chess team.
    I loved watching and analysing these games.

    This is great. What battles they had! Also I think that Kasparov was the greatest chess player in history so it's excellent revisiting his games. Thanks!

    Move 18 (8:35) If bxc5 then instead of Rxb8 I think Nxc8 then Bb7 would be very strong. I have not engine checked the idea so I could be wrong. great video!

      The idea is to fork the Na6 and the rook on c8 after the B is captured

    How did you use the book covering the years 1988-2009 to go over a game from 1985? :D

    dat hair!
    The crown to the king.

  • @danielmanahan692
    @danielmanahan692 10 років тому +1

    11:31 this looks inaccurate to take with the king instead of the rook.
    by taking with the king, the king, it appears to lose a tempo. Because the rook might want to go somewhere else, while the king was better placed centralized.
    Did Kasparov mention this as a mistake in the book? Houdini doesn't like Kxe8 as much.

    • @PowerPlayChess
      @PowerPlayChess  10 років тому +2

      Kasparov does analyse 20...Rxe8 and concludes '...if the capture 20...Rxe8 did reduce Black's difficulties, it would have been only slightly, and it would not have fundamentally changed the evaluation of the position.'
      In the short analysis of games in these video clips I aim to tell a story and in so doing I can only focus on the most critical positions - and this is clearly not one of them.

    • @raviparimi1997
      @raviparimi1997 10 років тому +4

      That would definitely be amazing. We should start a campaign to fund Daniel for his effort, especially for the games he covers outside of regular tournaments. That way we can submit requests for game analysis and also benefit from more recordings posted to the youtube channel!

    I don't know if it was this first game or the 84 1st game that Bobby Fischer declared every move was prearranged? I always wondered if there was any basis for his conclusion?

    • @PowerPlayChess
      @PowerPlayChess  6 років тому +2

      There is absolutely no basis for Fischer's accusations.

    Too many commercial breaks ruined the enjoyment of the video.

    • @davidblack2970
      @davidblack2970 4 роки тому

      So you are getting probably the best grandmaster analysis available on the internet for free, and your complaint is that it's not free enough? If GM King showed up on your doorstep you'd probably complain if he didn't bring snacks.

    • @mpeterll
      @mpeterll 4 роки тому

      @@davidblack2970 I think you have misinterpreted my meaning. I have no problem sitting through a few commercials at the start of the video. The trouble is that having a commercial break every couple of minutes ruins the game analysis.

    • @davidblack2970
      @davidblack2970 4 роки тому +1

      @@mpeterll my apologies. Some years ago a comedian suggested that they should show all of the commercials at the end and we would just all be HonorBound to watch them. I don't know if there is that much honor left in the world anymore. Personally, I don't mind a couple commercials during the segment. I just wish they wouldn't always throw one in three or four minutes before the end when you are most engaged. Sorry about my sarcasm. at least after the first commercial each time they usually give you the option to skip the rest of the ads.
