We use bedskirts to cover the box springs. Everything is coming together beautifully, take your time. The girls are so cute and helpful! Happy 4th to your family!
Covering a box spring: I love the open feeling of seeing the floor beneath the bed so I avoid bedskirts. I prefer using a solid-toned fitted sheet. It’s simple, economical and gives the bed a nice finished look.
Yes, buy a $10 cheap white fitted sheet from Walmart or Target and cover the box spring, especially since the comforter doesn't go down enough to cover it. You can't use a bedskirt to cover a box spring because it will look goofy when it isn't long enough to touch the floor. Bed skirts are meant to go under the boxspring and go all the way to the floor to prevent/camouflage dust bunnies.
I buy the elastic bedskirts from Amazon. The are super affordable and don't require taking the top mattress off to wash or change them. The elastic at the top holds them on nicely. Also a quick tip I learned from Home Interior parties way back when: buy straight pins in the sewing section of Walmart or a fabric store. Get the ones that have the little plastic balls on the head. If you have a sheet rock wall, and don't try to put it in a stud, you'll find you can push them in the wall with your thumb. You'll be surprised at what they can hold, and if it's something a little heavy, I put 2 pins side by side. I've been using the command strips that are velcro and they are great, too. Especially for awkward things. I used them recently to hang a toile tray on the wall. By the by, the sconces, bird and vine pieces, and the little picture that cracked are all Home Interior pieces from the 70's.🙂
Love that you are filming real life problems and not trying to cut them out of the video. We all have plans that everything will be easy and fit our visions. Then you don't have everything you need. Love the interaction with the girls also. Keep up the good work.
We use a bedskirt to cover the box spring. Your room is coming together beautifully. Every UA-cam video I have watched has been sponsored by Brooklinen lately. By the way your kiddos are adorable. God bless you, your hubby, and daughters.
I use bed skirts to cover box springs and bed rails. Great score on the bed. I have my great grandmother’s metal bed that my mother slept in as a baby. I’m currently not using it but I will never get rid of it.
I loved Rosie’s design input!! 💕 and I think the way you have it is beautiful so that the birds are what you see behind you in the reflection of the mirror. It’s looking beautiful!
I personally found the easiest thing to use to cover a box spring is a fitted sheet. You don’t have to worry about it shifting around as a bed skit can do. Simple and clean! I hope this comment helps!! ☺️♥️
You guys look so happy. I’m delighted for you. I either put a bed skirt on my box spring if I’m using a comforter or an extra fitted sheet if I’m using a full spread. Best wishes to you.
Setting up a home takes so much time! Your is going to be gorgeous. Your bedroom looks so cozy and comfortable now. Hide the bed springs with a dust ruffle. It will look really finished. I don’t know how you get as much done as you do with three kiddos except that you are young ….loving and patient. Our lord does work things out for us. God bless you and your family
A dust ruffle is what you need to finish off the bed. Make sure you get one that has an elastic band----if you don't you will end up taking the bed apart AGAIN (hahahaha). Dust ruffles that do not have the elastic band are basically a flat sheet with a ruffle around it that goes between the mattress and the box springs. Which reminds me of another option---you can take the mattress off the bed (again) and position a flat sheet on top of the box springs to where it drapes over the side to about one inch above the floor. You will need at least two sheets to cover all four sides---three sheets if you want the same hem to show on all sides. As for me, I'm okay with two sheets, putting the skinny hem on the side that you can't see from the doorway. Everything looks great!
Sconces will look good on either side of the vanity. You will most likely want to put lamps or lighted wall sconces on either side of the bed. It looks great and I cant wait to see the final product! Also, you want a Bed Skirt to cover the box spring.
Kristen, I put a white Walmart fitted sheet on my box springs . That way the bed looks finished and you don’t spend an arm & a leg for a sheet for your box springs. Or you could use a bed skirt. I prefer the sheet cause I just feel like the bed skirts just attract dust. The sheet option is easy to clean cause you can just vacuum the sides of the box springs.
You buy a bed skirt to cover the box spring they have antique ones if you can find a white one that would look stunning I have one in white with white embroidery it really makes a difference
I love a linen bed skirt. It gives nice storage coverage under the bed for clothing too. I use that space for seasonal items and extra shoes with under the bed storage boxes. Another option is a box spring cover. They slide on and zip up so the whole thing is covered
I know it’s way easier said than done, but don’t be discouraged about how long it takes to pull your room together. Creating a home takes time and intentionality. Creating a home also involves raising your babies and balancing everything else in life and you’re doing a great job. Sorry things are so chaotic but your room and your whole house and your family is beautiful ❤️
A dust ruffle I think is what you want to cover your box spring. It will have a plain, flat piece of fabric the size of the box springs foundation and it just sandwiches between the mattress and the box springs and from the edges of the perimeter fabric hangs down. Btw, those sweet children are the 'little nails' that will hold your family together.
I think you are doing a wonderful job! Everything is coming together so lovely! You would probably love a dust ruffle on your bottom mattress. It would fit your style if you like it, otherwise just add a sheet. Your girls are sweet too and you and your husband are great to watch together! Enjoy the moments! Putting together a home takes time! You will get there, but I love how you show the struggle....just like life!
Apple kisses are the best!😘Your home is turning out so pretty! Love the idea of pics on either side of the bed! Maybe a gallery wall incorporating the sconces? Or the sconces on either side of a fireplace? The possibilities are endless! Have fun!🙏🏻🤗🙏🏻
That bed is beautiful and you have inspired me! You are doing a great job!! So much to do and take your time. I actually bought a very simple 80's brass chandelier and painted it with a $6 can of Rustoleum Metallic Flat Burnished Amber for my cottage style kitchen. I got it for $5 at Habitat for Humanity and it looks AMAZING and high end!! Try a bedskirt for between your mattress and box spring. I love seeing your family videos! ❤
I always appreciate how real you are in your videos! Real life projects take time and lots of energy, especially when working with kiddos around. Your home is coming together beautifully.
My grandmother/and mom always had bedskirts/they are so pretty//it goes on the box spring first/then down goes your matress/sheet/top sheet/comforter/amen done/
I use a bed skirt to cover box springs. There are all kinds of styles, so you can do a really simple, tailored look, or a gathered style that literally looks like a skirt! The house is looking great! You have the sweetest family! ❤
Your home is awesome. You look so good in your glasses. You are doing great in taking your time to style your home just like you want. God’s blessings.
Bedskirts would be so pretty...that is what I use and ruffled ones would give the bed such a romantic look! Love Rosie's design ideas... she is a natural and actually thinking it through as to how much brown wood there would be if put by the dressing table compared to the bed is very impressive!!....I agree with her, and also if you put battery operated candles in the holders they could possibly reflect the pretty stained glass you have in the window depending on where you put them...... but if not reflective in the glass, they would still give a pretty glow of cozy ambiance on either side of the bed!...The outcome will be so pretty when all is done....
Use baby oil on your antique furniture, I let it dry for 24 hrs before putting on dresser scarves. If you use a paint brush you will be able to moisturize all the carved areas. Everyone will tell you mineral oil, but it doesn't absorb as well and leaves gummy areas. Try it on a random wood piece first. It also works great on wicker.
Take it easy sweetie. Take your time and make it an adventure, not a race. Plus this way you can make videos for decorating each room. Hugs and bless you all.
Get a dust ruffle for your bed! And for the broken glass in the picture maybe just take the glass out and hang the picture anyway? Or look for another frame that’s similar and just move the print into the “new” frame? Or, have a new piece of glass cut?
That is going to be a lovely home when you get it together. I just sold my old victorian and watching you makes me miss it but its gone to a younger couple that will love her so enjoy this process even though sometimes it can be very frustrating
For our antique beds that we didn’t want to use bedskirt on, we bought actual box spring covers at Restoration Hardware outlet 👏👏 that are like a fitted sheet but thicker and with a slight pattern on the solid gray color. They’re amazing and we’re only $39- each 👏👏!! They give a really finished look.
Your home is looking great! We have a coordinating fitted sheet on our box spring, and I have also used bedskirts. Our Walmart sells some really nice box spring covers, and I'm thinking of switching to one of those.
Yes! I have seen the one at Walmart as well, they resemble a fitted sheet at first glance just about; but I think are probably made to grip the corners slightly better and have a more polished edge look and they weren't pricey either if I recall.
Take your time setting up your new home. It is beautiful! I have used a skirt for my box spring in the past. The bird pictures would look very nice on the wall where you headboard is. May God bless your family and new home.
You should get a bedskirt or a box spring cover. Better Homes and Gardens has some really pretty box spring covers at Walmart! Love your videos and following your journey! Your sweet girls are so precious!
You could place a sheet or any cool material over the box spring (under the mattress) and just tuck it/fold it in the space between the box spring and mattress so it looks like a straight bed skirt. That's my little hack.
Usually you put a bedskirt between the mattress and box springs to cover it but a fitted sheet would work too! Just depends on the look you are going for. Everything looks great! Rosie is so adorable with her design ideas!!! 😍
Love how God is so faithful to supply all our needs. Thank you so much for sharing that story. Your bed frame is beautiful. The room is coming together so nicely! For the box spring you can get a fitted sheet, or a bed skirt. You can get a piece of glass cut for the cracked one.
I always use a bed skirt to cover the box spring, or a table cloth whatever I have available. The room is going to be gorgeous! Thanks for sharing especially the road blocks, I'm sure it's frustrating, been there, done that, but in the end it will all be worth it!! Can't wait to see the finished product!!
Bedskirt for your box spring cover. Maybe this is where you can bring in a little color, something that maybe matches your little pillow? I love your bed 🥰
A bedspread that hangs over the edges just past the box spring or some even go to the floor....the tufted chenille ones are nice. A folded quilt on the end can also drape down the sides. Beautiful bedroom so far. God Bless.
Looking good Kristen!! It is so fun to watch everything come together! I love how after watching all your vids, it's like "Oh! there's Kristen's dream bedspread! The blue and white $$$ one! LOL What! Rosie is a natural designer!!! I'm with her, put the candle holders beside the bed to bring the natural wood to that area to balance the room!
Oh my gosh, love the story about how you found your bed (I'm looking for a similar style and color too!). I love when God shows up like that! And how adorable is it to see your husband just as excited about your bedding as you are. 😄
I would put the bird pictures on each side of window. Then place birds on each side of bed and matching leaves over headboard. I think you will like it.
An alternative to buying a bed skirt is to thrift a vintage chenille bedspread (white) and drape it over the box spring. Queen size is big enough because they are meant to hang to the floor. It adds great texture and vintage vibe
We use bedskirts to cover the box springs. Everything is coming together beautifully, take your time. The girls are so cute and helpful! Happy 4th to your family!
Thank you, Angela!
I was going to suggest that also.
That was what I was coming to suggest also. Bedskirt for covering the box springs.
Covering a box spring: I love the open feeling of seeing the floor beneath the bed so I avoid bedskirts. I prefer using a solid-toned fitted sheet. It’s simple, economical and gives the bed a nice finished look.
I think this is what we will do!
What an awesome idea!
That's what I used on my king sized bed too
Also, can I just say that I love that you give credit where credit is due when you are given provisions from above. God knows our heart y’all!
He is so good to us!
Yes, buy a $10 cheap white fitted sheet from Walmart or Target and cover the box spring, especially since the comforter doesn't go down enough to cover it. It’s looking really good! Your dad is right. It takes a while, but you’re building a home and lots of memories!

Yep- about Brookline sponsorship. The big question is- “Would you get them if you had to buy them yourself, as a thrifter?”
Thank you, Carol!
Hi Kristen! We use a bedskirt to cover the box spring. I prefer the tailored cut bedskirt, rather than the frilly ones.
I've used dust ruffles or you could get a fitted sheet and cover it that way. Your bedroom looks beautiful!!
Thank you, Joyce!
You and your family are so adorable! Yes, we use bed skirts to cover the box springs .
Thank you, Kimberly!
I use dust ruffles on the boxsprings. It completes the look of the bed ensemble and hides the dust bunnies under the bed.😉
I just got linen sheets for my first time ever and I will never go back to cotton!! They are pure luxury!
Seriously!
I use bedskirts to hide the box spring if the comforter or bedspread doesn't reach down enough. I love how the master looks. What a lovely space.
I love your stained glass windows throughout the house!
I do too, Terri!
I use bed skirts to cover box springs and bed rails. Great score on the bed. I have my great grandmother’s metal bed that my mother slept in as a baby. I’m currently not using it but I will never get rid of it.

Yes, I do cover my box springs with fitted sheets.
I love the simplicity of a fitted sheet to cover the box springs 💜
You guys look so happy. I’m delighted for you. I either put a bed skirt on my box spring if I’m using a comforter or an extra fitted sheet if I’m using a full spread. Best wishes to you.

What a cute room. Can't wait to see it completed. It was great seeing all the little snafus along the way. The girls are stars.
Always so many road blocks!

Isn’t that another word for a bed skirt?
@@velmaarvizu7659 Yes it is!
I feel like I’m always in the struggle! Haha

You can buy a dust ruffle to cover your box springs. That's what I do all the time. They have various colors but white is a good color to use.
I use a bed skirt to cover box springs. There are all kinds of styles, so you can do a really simple, tailored look, or a gathered style that literally looks like a skirt! The house is looking great! You have the sweetest family! ❤

It is taking forever, Judy! I’m over it. Haha!

If you do not like the idea of a bed skirt just add a fitted sheet to the box spring. Looks like it all is coming together! Love the look. ❤️
Rosie is wise beyond her years!
You could place a sheet or any cool material over the box spring (under the mattress) and just tuck it/fold it in the space between the box spring and mattress so it looks like a straight bed skirt. That's my little hack.
I use a fitted sheet to cover the box springs, but you can also use a bedskirt or staple a pretty fabric around the three sides of the box springs
Good idea!
I’m loving your videos Kristen! You are so funny and sweet. I’ve almost watched them all. You’ve inspired me to do some more thrift shopping.
Walmart sells a box spring cover. I got one in grey and I love it. A bed skirt gets stepped on and torn.
Your stained glass in your window is stunning , Kristen. Also, you look Fab in blue.😍
I enjoy the process of decorating.
Usually you put a bedskirt between the mattress and box springs to cover it but a fitted sheet would work too! Just depends on the look you are going for. Everything looks great! Rosie is so adorable with her design ideas!!! 😍
Isn’t she great?!
Love how God is so faithful to supply all our needs. Thank you so much for sharing that story. Your bed frame is beautiful. The room is coming together so nicely! For the box spring you can get a fitted sheet, or a bed skirt. You can get a piece of glass cut for the cracked one.
Thank you so much 🤗
I have these on my box springs and I love them.
You get a skirt for on top of the knot the mattress to the other part under the mattress and then it hangs down to the floor it’s a dust ruffle
I use dist ruffles or bed skirts to cover the box springs. Everything is looking great
Great tip!
I like the sconces on each side of the vanity.
What a beautiful home and family! Such an exciting process!
Thank you so much!
You can purchase covers for your mattress and box springs, usually find them at stores that sell allergy products.
Yes! Thank you!
Bedskirt for your box spring cover. Maybe this is where you can bring in a little color, something that maybe matches your little pillow? I love your bed 🥰
Cute idea!
Everything looks beautiful ❤
I have the same picture that was broken. I love that vintage print.
Your bed looks fabulous. Renovation's take time.
It will all work out beautifully Kristen. 😍
You can use a king fitted sheet or 2 twin sheets to cover the box springs.
Extra long twins
I definitely agree with Rosie for the sconces.
She is so smart!
You can buy a zippered cover for the box spring, or use a bed skirt. I just love the stained glass in your window!
I’m truly excited to see you and your beautiful family in your new home 🏡 it will all come together in time.
It’s taking forever! Haha
The bedroom looks lovely already... 💗💗💗
A bedspread that hangs over the edges just past the box spring or some even go to the floor....the tufted chenille ones are nice. A folded quilt on the end can also drape down the sides. Beautiful bedroom so far. God Bless.
So cute!! Your style has inspired me so much ☺️ Excited to see the rest of the house eventually!
Everything- just beautiful 🇬🇧🇺🇸🌸🌸
Great job so far! It's coming along great!
Fitted sheet or bed skirt to cover the box spring, it just depends on the look you want. Looks good!! It's all coming together nicely.
Thanks for the tips!
We have a bedskirt, but you could use a fitted sheet to cover it too if you don't like the bedskirt idea.
Good idea!
Looking good! Fitted sheet on box spring.👍🏻
Ummm, I just love your bed! 💗 Your room looks great & thanks for a fun video!
If you want to cover up underneath your bed, use a dust ruffle ( bed skirt). If you want to see under the bed you can use another fitted sheet.
Oh my gosh, love the story about how you found your bed (I'm looking for a similar style and color too!). I love when God shows up like that! And how adorable is it to see your husband just as excited about your bedding as you are. 😄
Yes! Thank you!
Your home is really coming together and is so pretty! A dust ruffle will cover the bo x springs and add another layer as well as hide under the bed.
Thank you!
I would put the bird pictures on each side of window. Then place birds on each side of bed and matching leaves over headboard. I think you will like it.
Looking good!!👍💖
You need a bed skirt for your box springs. It will cover it and make the bed look complete. 😊
I do!
I cover box spring with same color bottom sheet and looks more complete that way 🥰
Good idea, Brenda!
You can get bed sacks to fully cover your box springs or use a bedskirt. Love your new old home.
I guess I always thought bedskirts were supposed to go to the floor.
An alternative to buying a bed skirt is to thrift a vintage chenille bedspread (white) and drape it over the box spring. Queen size is big enough because they are meant to hang to the floor. It adds great texture and vintage vibe
Great idea!!
Your bedroom furniture is beautiful! ❤️👍
Thank you, Libby!
Oh you are at the fun part! Enjoy it, take you time!😊
It's going to look pretty when you get it all together, to hide your box springs you can get a bed skirt it will cover it up your box spring
