    My issue with these tablets is that Samsung doesn't support the official covers/keyboard covers nearly long enough. Good luck sourcing an S9 keyboard cover now, or in the future. If you're going to buy into this ecosystem, get everything you want up front.

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  День тому

      I do tend to find the keyboard covers pretty easily even after a year or two. But you do have to look on several websites, they do tend to sell out on samsung. And also, they do change the designs on future devices. One of the benefits of a Surface Pro is that the keyboard covers tend to work in future years. So I do wish that they made some changes to how they do these things. And I wish they had their keyboard covers more available overall

      I'm with you on this one. The Dimensity chip only improvement was the multi-core on Geekbench 6, Single core is the same as SD8G2. I mainly use my Tab S9 for media consumption and playing emulators. Emulators are single core dependent so this generation wouldn't improve anything for my usage.

    I still disagree with you, lol. About upgrading from s8 ultra to s10 ultra. S8 ultra is still great today. They still have 2 more UI upgrade and at least 3 more security years of upgrade. Even trade in, I don't think it's worth it. I don't think I will see insignificant improvement a couple of generations from the s8 ultra to s10 ultra. Maybe once the security update runs out for the s8 ultra I be ready for the s12 ultra or s13 ultra series. The s8 ultra only 2 years and 8 months. And I only bought the s8 ultra last black friday deals in 2023. The s8 ultra still feels new to me.

      @gregoriopassport I was mad I learn that the s9 got the ip 68 rating after I bought the s8 ultra but I was happy because I paid only $699 compared to over $1000 for a tablet and I just learn that s8 ultra has 90.0% screen to body ratio vs and s9 ultra s10 ultra has 90.7% screen to body ratio. So that's the only thing is 2 things I,m missing. Maybe I get the s9 ultra when the price is down like the s8 ultra during black friday. I don't like to trade in devices.

    Excellent review. A VERY GOOD POINT IS MADE HERE: Paraphrasing, "You won't see a screen like the S10 Ultra on most laptops." I was able to secure a 1 TB S10 Ultra for $1100 and change after my trade-in and $200 off with a teacher's discount (my wife is a teacher but they didn't even ask me for verification). I also have the 11" M4 Ipad Pro and I will tell you, the anti-glare screen is profound on the S10 Ultra. The S10 Ultra is snappy and the screen is just a real pleasure to look at it. IT IS A LITTLE HEAVY WHEN MATED WITH THE RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE SAMSUNG S10 ULTRA KEYBOARD/TRACKPAD CASE. I have Android and Apple phones so having both works for me. Apple is really falling behind and considering I can add a 1 TB MicroSD card to my S10, I will have a 2TB tablet for just over $1200, you WILL NEVER see that from Apple, even used.

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  21 годину тому +1

      Right. Not only do they have worse trade-in deals, oh pretty much everything is way more expensive.
      And thank you for seeing those points. For some reason I'm seeing a lot more hate this year than previous years. I get why someone would prefer not to buy this tablet. But I'm surprised about the hate

    On the S9U, sometimes video force closess, which i believe is from video processing. I am hoping they fixed this because i watch 1080p - 4K video on a daily basis. I dont want to have to go back into my program again just because i want to watch in HD for a long time.
    The small book cover keyboard came free with preorder and an $800 rebate for trading in the s9U.

    • @AndroidDigest

      Tablets have a little bit of a different focus. So it depends on the person. There's a lot of people that don't need Windows programs. So they might want better speakers, a better screen, they might want to focus on the stylus experience. Or taking notes for class. And using a stylus in that process. I understand you can do something like that on a laptop, but it's not quite the focus like it is on a tablet. On a tablet there is a lot of easy and quick and intuitive touch screen multitasking. There is very quick access to basic apps for banking or for ordering fast food. There are some things that are just a lot quicker on a tablet.
      So it depends if that person needs Windows programs or not. And it depends if they are looking for a tablet or a laptop. Because I do think they serve a little bit of different purposes. For someone who wants a tablet first, and a laptop second, they just want a little bit of extra productivity but they also want to use it as a tablet, or maybe they want to get productive but they want to use the touch screen and other things to do it, I think a tablet can still be a very good choice.

    Why no 11 inch model? My tab S9 is the perfect Tab for my use and needs. For doing most normal tablet things a whole lot of people prefer the smaller more portable size especially now that they gave the 11 inch a super amoled display. Not everyone wants a tablet the size of a laptop! It'd be a stupid decision on Samsung's part to just give away the 11" flagship market to Apple.

    Honestly I would just buy this because the newest Samsung UI lets you set up pictures for your alarm plus use the songs you have in the tablet storage and I think thats worth the 1k alone to me. The only dumb part about android overall is that unlike the iPad and iPhones, you can’t have the screen on forever and use as a digital photo frame when not in use, max it’s like 10 mins or 15.

    I can't find any videos comparing the S10 ultra to the S8 ultra tablet. Maybe you can show a comparison between the two? I just want to see if the upgrade is worth it.

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  17 годин тому

      At some point, I may make a video on it. I've still got to go over the tab s 10 plus and then go over more with impressions. But quite often I do make comparisons in my videos so keep an eye out.
      But let me make you a comparison through messages. Though I'm voice texting so hopefully it comes through okay. Basically, you're going to go up in brightness from around 400 nits to about 900 nits. So the brightness is much brighter on the tab S9 Ultra and the S10 ultra. You also get water resistance, which you don't currently have in your tablet. I would say you will have a more efficient processor, because the processor in your tablet isn't quite as efficient. And you're going to get that anti-reflective screen, along with better performance. Those are really the differences between the two. And I guess one more difference is 7 years of operating system updates on the newer tablet. I'm going off the top of my head but I believe the S8 Ultra had 4 years of updates. And we're nearly 2 years I believe from when it came out. Also, don't forget that the processor didn't just get a big jump up with the tab s9 Ultra, but we're getting another jump up this year. So you're talking two full generations of processor upgrades, that water resistance again, the brighter anti-reflective display.
      There's a lot of upgrades for sure. But now we're talking about finding s8 ultra devices around $450 on ebay. So for those people that want a monster screen, if you're okay sacrificing a little bit of power, some brightness, and that anti-reflective display, yeah, the S8 Ultra is still a good value. But like I said, at least in the pre-order deals, they were offering $650 to $750 whenever you traded in an S8 ultra. So they were offering you over $200 more than what it's worth if you sold it on your own. That's pretty significant.
      That's why in my comments especially it seems to be a toss up. You still have a great AMOLED display, just less brightness, and a more reflective display. So a lot of people are still enjoying their S8 Ultra. A lot of people don't need the absolutely best performance, so they don't notice a big difference between this S8 Ultra and S10 ultra. And some people just don't like to upgrade every few years. On the other hand, they are offering amazing deals. And those two years of processor upgrades are noticeable in my opinion. I do think you'll notice more power, and you will notice a better display, assuming you won't just cover it up with a tempered glass anyway. So yeah, I think it's definitely a nice upgrade. But you still have some time to enjoy the S8 Ultra if you decide to wait until an s11 Ultra or something. But it's a good time to upgrade in my opinion with all the deals. At least in the us. But if you wait, you are still getting a good value.

    • @ambrosgonzales
      @ambrosgonzales 13 годин тому

      @AndroidDigest Yep, you just sold me. I'm doing it. It just makes more sense to upgrade just for the faster processor. The seven years of support alone helps.
      Thank you so much for commenting back.

    I currently have the 6th gen iPad pro and honestly I've been thinking about getting the Samsung tablet ultra since last year, and honestly the 10 ultra seems better than the M4 iPad. Should I upgrade now?

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  Годину тому

      It's better in some ways. Worse than others.
      First off, I would consider what ecosystem you're in. Yes you can be in both, if you have a bunch of Samsung devices already or Android devices, it's a good time to switch.
      I'd say the iPad does technically have a little more power but again, I don't think it does much with it that you'll notice. These tablets are massively fast and I don't notice any hiccups.
      The iPad has that tandem OLED screen, but personally I would lean towards the Samsung antireflective AMOLED display, but even if you do like the tandem OLED better, it's only slightly better..
      The Samsung is much better when it comes to value, when it comes to customization, it's much better with the fact that you can have an SD card slot, you could download things like emulators if you play ROMs. There's just a lot of flexibility on android.
      When it comes to the ultra, it's just a whole different beast. The screen is massive, and if that's really what you want in a tablet, yes, it's a lot heavier. But considering you pay $300 for extra screen size just to go up to the 13-inch ipad, going up to a 14.6 inch screen is definitely worth something.
      So you're getting an s pen in the box, you're getting a larger screen, you're getting the ability to use an SD card, so even if the performance and the screen are pretty equal, there are a lot of advantages. Another advantage in my opinion is Samsung dex. Once you turn on classic dex in the settings, it's like an awesome laptop interface, where you can open up multiple web browsers, you can have several windows open at the same time. It's just pretty handy and I think it's a lot better for productivity.
      Apple has slightly more optimized apps, or at least a few more optimized apps. Samsung has great workarounds when you can go into the settings and adjust how apps look in landscape va portrait (the labs setting).
      Apple also has final cut, and a couple extra video editing apps that you don't get on android.
      So it really is a preference thing. I really do think both are great. I think Samsung is a far better value, but when you're spending this type of money, it really depends on what you're wanting.

      That's sort of like asking if you can upgrade your 2008 Toyota to a 2024 toyota. One of them will be way cheaper. But it's also going to have those compromises from the past.
      Obviously the s10 ultra and the Plus model, they are massive steps up from what you have now. Absolutely massive. But you're also talking about a massive cost.
      Some people would rather buy $600 laptop and find a cheaper $400 Android tablet out there for the same cost. Like you could always get an S9 Fe or something and paired with a laptop. Everyone is different. Some people just want a super premium tablet. A super premium tablet will often have better speakers than a laptop, a tablet like this will often have a far better screen than a laptop, you will have a great stylist experience, better than a laptop. So some people want all of those things in their tablet. But some people need Windows programs or other things, so they spend that money and spread it out among their devices.
      As far as what you do, it's obviously up to you. You could find plenty of cheaper upgrades around 5 or $600 like the OnePlus Pad 2, you can get some massive upgrades and still save money. But if you do want to get one of the best Android tablets out, it's going to be the ultra or the Plus

    Im the market for a new tab. But how much better is this than the tab s9 ultra to be specific

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  День тому +2

      So the tab S9 is just a smaller version of the tab S9 plus and the S9 ultra. With not many differences. Outside of the base model only having 8 gigabytes of ram.
      But let's compare the tab S9 plus and the tab S9 ultra. It's like I said in the video, you're getting three things. An anti-reflective screen. The screen is going to be the same brightness levels, same resolution, same everything really, just a anti-reflective screen coating. Personally I think it makes a massive difference. But you can make up some of that anyway by buying a screen protector from samsung. But only one comes in the box in their anti-reflective screen protectors and obviously they are hard to apply perfectly.
      The second big difference is performance. This is something that I don't think a lot of people would notice day today. I noticed a nice jump up, but it might only practically be like a 20% gain in day-to-day usage.
      The third thing is AI features. And I guess the fourth thing, I guess there is one more thing, is going to be 7 years of operating system updates instead of four (I'm going off the top of my head but I believe it's four)
      So there are some reasons to upgrade. Bl especially if it's only a $100 or $200 difference for you. but if you want a smaller tablet, you could still get the regular S9. Or if you find a really really good deal on the older models, they're still terrific. But the anterior reflective screen is a big game changer for me and like I said in the video, it's something I really really noticed.

      @AndroidDigest nice! The anti-reflective coating wouldnt matter to me anyway. Because just like my S24U, I'd throw on a screen protector.

    Strictly for diehard Samsung fans. For example in the UK, base model is £1200 and generously Samsung will give you £130 trade-in for the Tab S8 Ultra! What has the Tab S10U over the S8U? Certainly not close enough for a £1070 cost to upgrade. So, sane sensible people in the UK, and probably other regions will not be upgrading from an older Ultra. The question is then, who on earth will pay £1200 for this? You do get a free keyboard which will save you £350 but their keyboard is awful and I don’t see that as a bonus. Though you could probably sell it for £100 on ebay. If I had circa £1200 I would get the iPad Pro m4 13-inch, a better tablet in my humble opinion and getting good discounts now, so cheaper than the Tab S10U (I have seen it for around £1000, though I am sure the Tab S10U will be similar in a month or two).
    However, it probably comes down to brand and/or OS loyalty. Samsung fans buying the Tab, and Apple fans buying the iPad. So a comparison is not really instructive as people will ignore the negatives of each device as they are outweighed by the brand loyalty. Enjoy whatever you choose, but these are both ultra-premium tablets and a lot of people will find better value alternatives though obviously not as premium.

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  День тому +1

      I actually do agree with you that a lot of iPad comparisons are pretty pointless. People will mainly get the device that is in their ecosystem. The Samsung tablets are great and premium for people who want to buy a premium tablet, the same is true of apple. These new iPads are my point was simply that compared to the competition they are providing some value.
      Realistically, I think a lot of people will just need to buy a laptop anyway. And if they want a tablet they could always buy a cheaper one. But there are a lot of people who want to premium tablet. And I think this, along with the iPad pros, I think they stand above the rest. That was my main point there.
      And just like you say these tablets are for Samsung diehards, I think Apple ipads, the pro models, I think those are for diehards too

      That's amazing. I hope you enjoy it. There's pros and cons, there's no doubt. A little less app optimization. But you can use the settings, and go to advanced labs, and you could change apps that were made for phones, apps that don't go full screen, you can force into full screen. Even though we have less app optimization, I believe there's a lot more customization. You can add an SD card. We also have Samsung dex, the pen in the box. And we still have things like quick share which really work just as good, if not better than Apple's file sharing like air drop. Once you get fully transferred over, it's a fun experience

      Dexnor makes a magnetic typing cover that is very similar to the iPad magic keyboard, if that's what you're looking for. The touchpad is a little meh but you can easily turn it off by using a keyboard shortcut then you can use a Bluetooth mouse. It's pretty great imo

      @@GoodGuyGoneGreatWhat a ridiculous argument. Yes Samsung manufacture and supply screens for Apple, BUT Apple "designs" the screen.
      Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 was fabricated by Samsung, but Qualcomm designs the architecture of the chip: therefore it's still a Qualcomm chip. See how that works?
      They later refresh the 8 Gen 1 to 8+ Gen 1 using TSMC for better efficiency.
