IIRC outside of the movies, theres a part where Dooku's friend tried to convince him to abandon the dark side and they would fight the sith together. Dooku responded by saying it was too late and killed them.

The thing is that the Jedi Council believed that the position of Chancellor would be too obvious for a Sith Lord, so they were more suspicious of Mass Ameda and others close to Palpatine, but they did not completely rule him out, and the fact that he could be the Sith Lord was more terrifying, because that would mean that getting rid of him would be much more dangerous and difficult.
Every single sith lord apprentice tries to get another apprentice to team up with them and take down their master and become the new sith lord and apprentence. Im guessing thats the logic but Dooku should have known obi won wouldnt turn to the dark side. Might have had more luck with qui gon

Dooku wasn't really for the Sith (depending on the writer for the EU, his personality can change greatly when it comes to the clone wars). He didn't like the Jedi because of the blind support for a senate which showed obvious corruption and how they seemingly turned their back on the little people which they should be protecting. He wanted reforms more than anything. Telling Obi Wan this would give him an out while still being able to try and force reforms with the separatist movement. What DO you think "The Dark Side obscures everything" means? "Wait a minute. How did this happen? We're smarter than this." Yes, but usually Palpatine isn't standing two feet away. It's a shroud that blinds the mind's eye.
Well, I mean, technically Dooku did tell Obi-Wan to his face that the Republic is controlled by the Sith and the Chanciler is the head of Republic's government so it's not hard to put 2 and 2 together and at least strongly suspect Palpatine is a Sith and they find out there is evidence the Sith are behind the creation of the clone army which are effectively sleeper agents they, for some reason, decided to let into the republic. It does kinda seem like all the pieces are there for the Jedi to figure this out.
They eventually suspected that the Sith Lord was someone Palpatine knew personally. They never figured out that Palpatine was the Sith Lord. (Palpatine had to tell Anakin, who then told the Council.)
@@MCSPARTAN501 In the novel it was also mentioned by, I think Mace, that the only reason Palpatine wasn't suspected directly was that he already effectively ruled the republic although I'm not sure I agree with that line of reasoning.
Dooku should have said, "it could be Mas Amedda." The Jedi actually believed Mas Amedda was a likely candidate to be the Sith Lord. They thought the Sith would be controlling the Senate through a puppet rather than actually having a Sith Lord as Supreme Chancellor.
Dooku in this scenario: "Wait, you weren't supposed to believe me. You were supposed to think I was tricking you. Why must you be so gullible Obi-Wan?"
Palpatine's whole plan hinged on the Jedi being stupid. Imagine if Obi-Wan had figured it out there and then, and told the other Jedi. The Clones wouldn't be spread out enough to kill every Jedi and make it look like a "Jedi rebellion".
The Lego shorts are even more hilarious with Palpatine twisting his Lego head peak a boo style to reveal his sith appearance. Obiwan comments to Yoda that the chancellor has an odd twitch. Another time when he gets mixed up on holo calls and speaks to the Jedi in his sith appearance then explains the calls got mixed up, Yoda responds with “Chancellor, converse with sith lords you should not”
Obi wan: *doesn't get knocked out.* Palpatine: "Well, here goes my whole Anakin plot. Guess, I will just go put myself in cuffs on my own since they will now figure me out."
Ah yes, the "What if Obi-Wan mastered connect the dots game" Unfortunately non canon for the crime of trying to shorten and divert the Prequels. A crime punishable by having Sheev daddy snap his neck like a stale space Slim Jim from three planets away. 😔🤙
The big issue with targeting the Chancellor is that being a Sith isn't really an offence. Granted, the Sith nearly destroyed the GR in the New Sith Wars a millenia ago, but that doesn't mean people can actually tell the Jedi and Sith apart. They're the same thing to most people, so if the Jedi actually did go straight for the Chancellor, the GR would absolutely retaliate and protect the guy.

IIRC outside of the movies, theres a part where Dooku's friend tried to convince him to abandon the dark side and they would fight the sith together. Dooku responded by saying it was too late and killed them.
No, Dooku was pulling a double bluff. He wanted them to think, "Wait, but Dooku is a Sith himself. Why would he try to sell out his own master like that? He must be trying to deceive us." And just like that, Palpatine is at the bottom of the Jedi's list of suspects, even if they end up not liking his choices.
@@Kjf365 IIRC the jedi did suspect people near palpatine, but palpatine played the part of a politician so well that he fooled everyone. that and they didnt think a sith lord would put themselves in the limelight as chancellor, they spent thousands of years hiding in the shadows.
Yes and no. Dooku technically could of turned back at that point but practically he couldn’t have. For one he wouldn’t have gone back to the Jedi counsel since at the end of the day their corruption and failings is what lead to him turning to the dark side. Qui gon could have convinced him that just because the Jedi counsel suck it doesn’t mean their enemies are better and that he should find his own path. Qui gon was kinda dead though
Now i feel bad for Dooku :( #justicefordooku
"What are you people, idiots?"
- Zapp Brannigan when discussing how the jedi never figured out it was palpatine
Attack of the Clones but the jedi aren't dumb . . . for plot reasons.
To be fair the clone wars implied that the Jedi were very close to figuring out palptine was the Sith Lord
@@guycrew3973 I think some of the lore said that they didn't consider Palpaine, but were convinced that someone in his inner circle was the sith lord and was manipulating Palpatine. The Jedi couldn't conceive Palpatine actually being the sith lord.
@@cyberinsecuregaming2890
They did consider it, that's why Mace said (paraphrasing) when Anakin revealed the truth "then our worst fears have come true."
Jedi if they had more brain cells than a b1 battle droid
I appreciate Palpatine having the same voice they use in Robot Chicken
Fantastic deep-cut reference with the "techno union!"
So.
Obi wan told the council about this. And the council said, "Nah fam he lyin" and it was never brought up again.
Obi-Wan with 10000 IQ
0:35 Well, I'm sure they'll enjoy front row seats for podracing there😂
When he said “banking clan” that killed me😂😂
"there is no bounty hunter here" (unless you brought it with you)
The real master Dooku was the hard rock bass guy Wat Tambor.
Darth Maul got split in two by Obi-Wan’s sabre and he walks funny ever since.
Poor Dooku
It always bothered me how Kenobi never put 2 and 2 together or ever bothered telling anyone
Obi Wan if he actually paid attention to politics.
Plot holes, so many plot holes, not possible to dodge them all.
I mean it's not a plot hole, Dooku was legitimately willing to ally with Obi-wan to take down Palpatine in this scene
+ Dooku knew that Obi-wan wouldn't belive him
@@invictus7736 source?
@@pylotlightsomeone could say 1 + 1 is 2 and idiots like you would ask for a source.
Every single sith lord apprentice tries to get another apprentice to team up with them and take down their master and become the new sith lord and apprentence. Im guessing thats the logic but Dooku should have known obi won wouldnt turn to the dark side. Might have had more luck with qui gon
But really, why did Dooku spill his guts like that? And why didn't he just kill Obi-Wan?
Is he stupid?
Dooku at the start of the Clone Wars, the Battle of Geonosis, wasn't entirely set with the Sith, if Obi-Wan had believed him and acted on it, Dooku was prepared to leave the Sith behind too.
He is a metaphor for Martin Luther or something idk
Plot reasons.
He is also sentimental and was more favorable to Obi Wan because he was Qui Gon's apprentice
Thanks for these IARESMART. I was having crap day and these always bring a smile to face. 😊
Also as fellow Michigander, stay cool as you can in this crazy heat wave we're having.
I'm glad to hear it, and I'll try to stay cool
The real reason Palpatine made Anakin kill Dooku
When obi wan told yoda he told him that is a lie by the sith
Dooku through the force: Plot reasons bitc-
What DO you think "The Dark Side obscures everything" means?
"Wait a minute. How did this happen? We're smarter than this."
Yes, but usually Palpatine isn't standing two feet away.
@@MCSPARTAN501
In the novel it was also mentioned by, I think Mace, that the only reason Palpatine wasn't suspected directly was that he already effectively ruled the republic although I'm not sure I agree with that line of reasoning.
I actually love the impressions
I just found this channel and I am so happy I did, lmao
Well I'm glad too
Finally Dooku saved the galaxy and order 66 never happen yet
Dooku just trying to get out of an abusive relationship
no-fault divorce I believe the GOP call that
This finds another gear in the last 20 seconds
Wow!
Palpatine is MAD!!
This is a conversation between a grandson and his grandfather...
Star Wars if the Jedi had brain cells.
Dooku should have said, "it could be Mas Amedda." The Jedi actually believed Mas Amedda was a likely candidate to be the Sith Lord. They thought the Sith would be controlling the Senate through a puppet rather than actually having a Sith Lord as Supreme Chancellor.
Ironically that was Lucas' original plan for the Emperor in the OT for him to be a puppet leader controlled by a Sith council.
Dooku in this scenario: "Wait, you weren't supposed to believe me. You were supposed to think I was tricking you. Why must you be so gullible Obi-Wan?"
1:32
In Episode 1 Palpatine literally said that Valorum had little power and the burocrats more or less controlled the senate.
I hope Obi One can tell Anderson Skydiver about Paperplane so he can add an anex into his Thesis.
Dooku: dont stab him dont stab him dont-
Remember Palps plan only worked because being prequels meant he had plot armor.
Palpatine's whole plan hinged on the Jedi being stupid. Imagine if Obi-Wan had figured it out there and then, and told the other Jedi. The Clones wouldn't be spread out enough to kill every Jedi and make it look like a "Jedi rebellion".
Palpatines plan revolved around the Jedi being in too much urgent danger to spend time asking questions.
I have absolutely no problems believing the "Banking Clan" gets a say (or the only say) in things.
The Lego shorts are even more hilarious with Palpatine twisting his Lego head peak a boo style to reveal his sith appearance.
Obiwan comments to Yoda that the chancellor has an odd twitch.
Another time when he gets mixed up on holo calls and speaks to the Jedi in his sith appearance then explains the calls got mixed up, Yoda responds with “Chancellor, converse with sith lords you should not”
If Obi-Wan was actually really, really smart and figured out really really quickly
Smart Obiwan
Cant believe Kenobi was stupid enough to not figure out Palpatine was a sith
Obi wan: *doesn't get knocked out.*
Palpatine: "Well, here goes my whole Anakin plot. Guess, I will just go put myself in cuffs on my own since they will now figure me out."
Adding space in front of something never gets old
Dooku is just honoring the traditional past time of The Rule of Two, betraying the master Sith as the Apperentice
you know if this was played straight it would actually make a good sean
Senators being "under the influence" of a Sith Lord could mean that a Sith Lord is mind-tricking or bribing the Senators.
Should've stick with Jar Jar if you ask me.
Honestly if only Obi-wont had actually been Obi-won and listened to Dooku and belived him in that scene of the movies 😢
Figure out the Droid attack on the Wookies next.
Ah yes, the
"What if Obi-Wan mastered connect the dots game"
Unfortunately non canon for the crime of trying to shorten and divert the Prequels. A crime punishable by having Sheev daddy snap his neck like a stale space Slim Jim from three planets away. 😔🤙
He could have said Jar jar
and you wonder why Palpatine ordered Anakin to decapitate Dooku.
Gosh I am getting all confused between the 4 timelines, the real one, the Seals one, the Iaresmart one and the JJ Solid one
I could never get, why did Dooku tell Obi Wan that Palpatines is a Sith Lord and why Obi Wan did not do anything about it. Idiot Ball much?
*HISHE!Attack of the Clones* !!!
And then they say that only the sequels had plot holes and the characters act dumb sometimes...
Adding Dooku was such a mistake. They should have stayed committed to Darth Jar Jar!

Wasn’t dooku’s goal to convince obi wan to join him based on this very information? I don’t think he would have said anything to palps
1:39 mas amedda maybe
He could have just killed him at that point.
Well if this conversation happened, then Dooku should kill obiwan tbh 😂
These are funny
Why is Obi Wan so camp?? 😂
my theory: doku want not the destruction of the jedi... he want fore a reform of it. he join the darkforce and sidious becaus he hope this conflict will reform the jedi temply and he could later secretly get some jedi on his side that then reform the jedi order under his watch.
He want obiwan as one of those Jedi he inform how the jedi must reform.
During the movie he hope this way could work...
Until the clone army arrive and save the jedi...
In exact that moment Count Dooku realise the plan of Darth sisious have reach his final stage.
There was no way back. If he want survifal he must stick to sidious.
