  • @thenoobfactor
    @thenoobfactor 11 років тому +35

    Yes they would. Invading the continental US is utter insanity that would make Hitlers invasion of Russia look like a good idea. First of all you have to contend with the largest navy in the world cutting your supplies. The resistance would be massive and incredibly well armed, with a huge countryside to fall back into, and numerous natural barriers for defenders to hold. And with all those problems you still have to contend with an vast and lavishly equipped army.

    • @republicempire446
      @republicempire446 7 років тому +6

      thenoobfactor mostly likely factor that they would focus on Europe first and given account war with US would only make things worse back home since it was going to fall anyways. First few months would see Soviet victories but NATO would inflict heavy losses upon Soviet forces. US would continue to reinforce their forces and NATO will reorganize their forces to massive counteroffensive.
      However, Soviets would put up a stiff resistance until uprisings occurring in Eastern Europe and Soviet states would pull out their units. Last few months would see Soviets are retreating back to USSR as NATO liberated Eastern Europe from USSR.
      US and NATO doesn't invade USSR to avoid same mistake that Napoleon and Hitler made and hoping for USSR to sue for peace. USSR collapse after treaty was signed. Thus it is my take on One Year War.

    • @SoulKiller7Eternal
      @SoulKiller7Eternal 6 років тому +1

      Incorrect the Russians would crush the NATO offense very very quickly & brutally.
      Remember the only one who could even beat the Russians when they were defending were Colonel Sawyer, and the only Russian version was killed by his nephew who ended up dead because of this mistake.
      Colonel Sawyer even did recon IN TO Russia and it didn't break the front line for the Soviets.

    You do realize that large ships don't necessarily mean you have a strong navy? On the contrary, it can often me the reverse! Large ships have huge profiles. What most modern navies aim at is having as many small-sized ships as possible that can effectively engage the larger, slower and less-manoeuvrable ships.

    Good question. Although I wonder if neutrality would be feasible or unrealistic for Sweden? I don't know the geography or layout of Scandinavian transport infrastructure (circa 1989). But I theorise the Soviet incursion into Sweden may have been based on the requirements of operational tempo & logistics. Especially as NATO Norway had a shorter border with the USSR. A tightly-defended bottleneck of sorts? Perhaps this may have been the simpler non-nuclear strategic option?

    I think its quite plausible-after all, it didn't say that Russian patriotism collapsed, instead merely that they were shocked to have suffered an incursion into their territory. Only part that I have a problem with was the Soviet ability to be able to invade Seattle. Even if the US pacific fleet is redeployed to the atlantic, the Soviets would still have needed to reckon with the Japanese navy.

      The US and USSR would only retaliate when the other launched nukes on their respective territories, therefore one can conclude that the Soviets couldn't actually retaliate with nukes on the US since the US nuked their own territory. And for the record, the US was prepared to nuke Seattle in case the Chinese landed. If MAD worked the way you think (nukes used by one side, then everybody can use it) the Soviets should have simply nuked the US forces defending against their invasion force. I'm not so sure... just look at what happened at Vietnam.
    At three,
    Free press is now propaganda? Yeah, a few posters here and there during ww2, but i'm not so sure it would be far as "Propaganda".

    Oh, hey look. The Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force is the smallest, I just looked at what ships they have, and they finally just got a few destroyers in the past years. The Soviet Military has larger ships, more submarines, a bigger nuclear threat to pose on them. I bet North Korea could destroy the Japanese.

      Lol comment from 10 Years ago. One does not simply destroy a small but well trained Japanese msdf with crappy ships and lesser trained men. Such an act would result in Korea being Japanese again

    @Spawn40k That's good only in case of defensive war, but people owning guns like in the USA is wrong thing. You're having a lot of murdering and crimes. Here in Europe we have 5 times less murders than America, wonder why? Yes.

      9 Years ago, funny how things change, now that murder is skyrocketing in Europe while in America, only the states that restrict gun rights seem to have the highest gun crime.

    @PoliceAir It is kinda funny, but not unreasonable. Dictatorships enjoy stretching the truth and lying bold faced like to their people, trying to save face. Remember Baghdad Bob? Man, that information minister was hilarious!

    Hey, This country has 80 million gun owners, Id hope at least a few fight back if we get invaded. I know that if a foreign army walked the soil of the great state of virginia, me and rest of my boys in the stonewall brigade (116th INF Va army guard) would make them pay dearly.

      Yeah, but then at first when him and the US was still allies, the US supplied him with the ingredients to make those gas, and they have also defended him with his usage of chemical weapons in front of the UN during the first Iran-Iraq war. So yeah, dirty deeds creates more dirty deeds

    Doesn't Britain, have a lot of Gun murders, even though guns are illegal? Our Constitution gives us the right to bear arms, European countries might not but it has been established we need a well kept Militia, in case of a Military take over or invasion.
