Interesting to see the magnets are causing damage to the paint. Will need to find a different solution to keep things up but still removable on my van! Thanks for sharing 😊
So glad this has helped you! I am still using magnets on parts of the interior metal that is separate to the external shell. But so glad I saw this before I got my new paint job done 😅
Been waiting to see what you are up to…my old hiace rusts on the roof too….l have had it treated with fisholene..l have no idea if l spelt that right..floor was done too…and l was planning on using magnets…oh ell we shall see…l am only camping in mine with my three dogs in the winter……l just can’t wait to see your new section on the roof…big stretch…take care girl…
You nearly wore me out removing the solar panels. Anxious to see new paint job and the addition of your high top. Wondering what your plans are for solar? Have a good week. 😊
Hello Christie tough job I too was thinking… boy you must have been hot out there doing that. Great job in getting it off. You’ll soon be able to stand up in your cute little van!!🎉🎉
I was told that solar panels ought to have a good airflow when on the roof, mine are mounted on a bracket on the roof and have about 2 inches of airflow. Just a thought. Certainly funny marks on the roof. You’ve done a good job getting the panels off, sikaflex is just that. Cheers Judy
Small iron particles from brake pads and rotors sticking in the paint and rusting, haha they stuck around the magnetic. Very common on white vans . eg. My Toyota HiAce 🤙
Hi girl , good point in regards to paint and the flow of the magnetic field surrounding the solar panels, sent so many songs for your new play list that’s probably in some bin , so if I’ve sent this one before at least you will get three extra points for the bin score, song = Up On The Roof = The Drifters, take care you = me .
I'm probably misunderstanding the process and I'm sure there's a good reason but ... If they are removing the roof and you no longer need the solar panels, why did you spend all the effort removing them? Could they not just cut off the roof and discard the whole lot in one hit?
Completley valid question! It was borderline whether the sides were going to be completley cut out, and I wanted hte painter to spray a bit over where we predicted the cut would happen just in case ☺

Yes I have heard this too! My sparky seemed to think the small ridges underneath was enough, but looks like maybe it wasn't😬 Thanks so much Judy 🙏☺

Ohhhhhh that's so funny 😅 Thanks so much for clearing this up!
No worries but you should attend to the rust before it corrodes through the metal , it looks good on the inside , couldn't notice any on the video. 🤙

Haha I haven't heard that song before, but will add it to the list 😅
My roof looked same had repainted 1000$
Yeah it seems to be common with the Hiaces 😬
