  • The Pinang Peranakan Mansion in George Town, Penang, Malaysia, is a museum dedicated to Penang's Peranakan heritage. The Peranakans, also known as the Babas and Nyonyas, are descendants of Chinese immigrants who had settled in the area that is now known as Malaysia and Singapore between the 15th to 17th centuries. These Chinese immigrants brought with them their own culture and it has fused with local culture over time, creating a unique blend now referred to as Peranakan. The museum itself is housed within a distinctive green-hued mansion at Church Street, George Town, which once served as the residence and office of a 19th-century Chinese tycoon, Chung Keng Quee. The museum displays more than 1,000 antiques and collectibles. This courtyard house, which combines the style of Baba and Nyonya residences, not only remains intact internally and externally, but inside the century-old house, Its eclectic design and architecture showcase a diverse style that combines Chinese and Western cultures. There are screens integrated with Chinese wood carvings indoors, as well as British floor tiles and Scottish cast iron craftsmanship.
