The mansions i think are mostly owned by business tycoons especially timber tycoons not specifically related to oil and gas. There are also such “beverly hills” like areas in sibu and kuching. Of course also in KL in areas like bangsar, bukit damansara.

Yes owned by people responsible for the wide scale deforestation of Sarawak and continuing in other countries round the world such as PNG, Belize, Gabon.

Hi Gigi, thank u heaps for this video. I lived in one of the govt bungalows for 10 yrs nearby on the hill overlooking Luak Bay..at the time it was pristine & quiet. Now 20 yrs later, I cannot recognize the area!! Thanks again..most interesting video!!! Big love frm Canada.

There is a lot of interesting place around Miri. One of the biggest cave in the world called Gua Niah (Niah Caves) and the pointy rock formation called Mulu Pinnacles.

For me. The huge 1 was locate near the beach at Esplanede Miri. Its look like a castel. Its take about 15 minute from tht location.

Wow I never knew Miri is so called the Beverley Hills. I know i am always in awe of the houses even though I visited it so often.
Anyway, welcome to my city Miri, the oil and gas capital of Malaysia. People found oil in Miri hundreds of years ago and the first oil rig is built 112 years ago on Canada Hills. Since then, a lot of Mirians are working in the oil and gas industry throughout Malaysia in several companies. Some of the companies are even opening their HQ or at least their office in Miri! As time goes by, industries sprung out like mushrooms. You should see how Bruneians shop in Miri- they shop like there's no tomorrow. Our airport is the busiest domestic airport in Malaysia. Now, wealthy people in Miri are usually in oil and gas, palm oil or in timber industries. Almost very home in Miri has a car each. That actually explains why Miri is the 4th most expensive city in Malaysia 😂
Another reason why almost every home has car(s) is because of our public transport. Or the lack of it, to be precise.
Take Kuching for example. There used to be several bus companies operating within Kuching city alone. Nearing 2000, their(the bus companies) number started to dwindling. Now. if you missed a bus, it mean a long waiting game for you for another one to come.

im at west malaysia right now but as a 13 year old boy who grew up in miri (and at that EXCACT area in that video = luak bay), im still thrilled by the mansions :) (funfact: my kindergarten friend lives in one of those mansions!!)

@@blizzard9954 Unfortunately that's true - not helped by the fact that for a West Malaysian to enter East Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak) the procedure, immigration wise, is just like entering another country. A West Malaysian needs an international passport to enter Sabah or Sarawak and can stay there for up to 90 days. Instead of passport, IC can also be used but more inconvenient since you will be issued a 90-day visa slip by Sabah/Sarawak immigration which you shouldn't lose. Also a West Malaysian can't work in East Malaysia without work permit. An East Malaysian, on the other hand, can enter and work in West Malaysia with no issue.
Still some people in Malaya are saying our Sarawakian people live on the tree..What a joke..Come and visit the hundreds of modern longhouses here in Sarawak..One thing for sure,we the Sarawakian never appear in Bersamamu TV3...🤭🤣

Yup.. I know several millionaire from Bintulu. Most of them have house in Miri esp the one are in oil and gas.. even Bintulu is develop still they choose to build mansion there. My rich friend would have holiday in Miri since they have mansion there.
Oh you staying at the condo somewhere at tanjong lobang,and nearby the marriott ,and nearby is st joseph's sec school,tanjong beach where they hve night food stalls.you can go to sererkas wed evening to sunday evenings.Lots of food there.crocodiles farm at kuala baram,many more places.

Many land outside of kl is cheap therefore people can build a huge house on their land plus construction cost in Malaysia is quite reasonable

Comparatively these mansions are huge but property prices and cars here are so much cheaper than other cities like Hong Kong and Singapore where property's prices are sky high and even very much smaller in term of area.
Perhaps call a few realtors to get some legit malaysia home tours? Great vid.
Their maids, dogs and cats enjoy staying in those big houses. The owner? Nah..! They maybe busy doing busy elsewhere and staying in hotels in some foreign country. ✌️😁

Hi Hello I live in Miri City for more than 10 years. I live/had a house in Taman Desa Seri. I left Miri in 2003. Miri is a small city; I believe ur now at Tanjong Lobang....the rich/timber tycoon haven.
2003 was long long time ago 😅 Miri development now double if not triple of what it was back then. my home at Hillstone Garden at the hillside of Canada Hill.

Most of the mansions are between 2k to 2.5k square meters built-up area. The biggest, I believe should be around 5k square meters.

I used to live in Yong Garden, Luak Bay Miri back in early 1991 through 1997, had a wonderful time living in the area, still recognise the house I lived in, but can hardly recognise the remaining area now, so many of the “houses” are typical of the ostentatiousness of the nouveau riche, money does not buy you class!
Look at rural site, u can look how much different. 10 year's i've there...haha
As a Sarawakian, the mansion that area is really amazing. Miri is one of the most expensive city in Sarawak. But, I think Bintulu is more expensive and according to statistics, Bintulu has the highest household income in Sarawak and even one of the highest in Malaysia. Also, in Bintulu, Tanjung Batu Beach Bintulu is one of the best beach I visited.
Bintulu is definitely the next Miri. Just look at the prices for property there, and it's only going up.

Bintulu beach are polluted due to industrial. Not good for tycoon to live here. Kch and miri still no.1 choice for these super rich tycoon.

We have many expensive areas at surburb near KL. One of them is Tropicana, Country Height, Shah Alam etc.
And then you go to the neighbouring country Brunei, the houses aren't as great as this. Unless you're part of the royal family. But then, still aren't modern as this.

Good question. We have goverment that doesnt seems to care for their own people. The millionaires are always in KL. Except East Malaysia. If u're a person who live in East Malaysia u will understand our situation. Things are expensive but salary is low. But KL it is. KL looks perfect but the people are so arrogant

Many got rich off exploiting the state's natural resources. leaving nothing for local rural communities but scorched earth in areas where these communities formerly farmed and foraged for food. Next time ask your Grab driver to take you just an 1 hour outside of Miri to witness many local communities living in unimaginable poverty to present the other side of this story. Now that would be a story worth sharing to the world.
