@@Moddiebun She didn't run away. The fight had to stop. The moment she used her incantation Radhan lost due to mental issues. The Rot drove him insane which explains why melania was able to escape. Or else melania would of ate a meteor or two. At that point I think Radhan was clearly the most powerful character other than radagon and Marika. And him being mentally unstable is why Melania got away.
Malenia is honestly one of the best if not the best boss in the souls genre. Her cutscenes, backstory, and music make her absolutely amazing and fun to go against.
Except for the almost unavoidable instakill move and the overkill heal on hit. Those 2 things drag this boss from a 9/10 to a 6/10, and that’s if you’re willing to use bloodhound’s step

Her fight is honestly fine she's not tanky for the most part so the heal on hit gives her some staying power. All of her moves are pretty well telegraphed as well. I still give her fight that 9/10 if not a 10/10. It's a beautiful arena with and well designed boss beautiful music and an astetically great boss

Waterlily is the only thing that makes this fight stupid. Once she reaches 55% of health she can cast this attack anytime even in a sessions. Hell the entire fight is retarded. All I keep reading is weak poise and when I see the video clearly two different fights are happening. This fight is bs because malenia has hyper armor on her sway on top of a 1 frame invincibility on start up. Due to RNG and her insane burst attacks the fight doesn't play out the same as others and the experience is different. I kind of wish we had the ability to refight boss at fire camp. Anyhow I loved this fight deep down inside. However I won due to rng. She didn't use armored attacks and only used waterlily twice in reasonable situations. Not everyone is gifted with the same results.
w/o bloodhound step this fight is kinda unfair since you can't roll through her flurry dance except light-rolling (i know you can out-space it but sometimes she'll initiate this deadly move right on top of you); however, w/ bloodhound step, which gives you sufficient i-frame, this is definitely one of the most epic boss fight ever

Hell, even water lily you can literally run away from for the first 2 parts, then just dodge at her when she closes in for the final part to have her miss it entirely. You have to have her fight you on your terms, not hers. Fighting on hers will result in death every time
The good ol' days back when this was Margit's theme during the Network tests. Probably best that the track is for Malenia, seeing as she's a fallen warrior, and this track very much gives off the vibe of a crestfallen hero who's lost their way in life.

Can't tell you how many times she made good on her introduction before I was able to overcome her. So happy that this theme fell to her, as it fits her so well.
Totally agree. Malenia was a character i really looked forward to meet. And god i haven't been disapointed. Her moveset, design, intro... Everything was beautiful.

You guys know what I've realized? The phase 2 part of her theme, at 3:40? That choir is from Dark Souls 3. Listen to Iudex Gundyr's theme. It's the same melody!
Yeah I saw a latin expert youtuber that said that the words in the choir are meaningless, they are just latin words that sound cool to go with the melody, regrettably :/ His reasoning is that 99.9% of players don't know the mostly dead language, so it's not a problem if you're not gonna go look the lyrics up. In this case it backfired becasue the souls community loves to dig up every little bit of detail to udnerstand the lore, character motivations and events that transpired, very sad :p

Every soulsborn game has always had that boss that was much more difficult that the fina boss. For DS3 it was the Nameless King, and for Elden Ring its Melania
If she wasn't so easily staggered which I think was a poor choice. She could easily body everything in the game. Lore wise she most definitely could other than Radagon. But boss V boss she can hold her own with all of them other than Maliketh due to her being staggered so easily and him somehow wielding a 30 foot colossal sword like a black knife dagger. She has recovery and attack times similar to Sister Friede which I think was the highest in Fromsoft history. I'd be really interested to see a mod with her vs Sister Friede.
Well while radhan stalemated against her, he would definitely lose to her second form in which she becomes a goddess. The same thing marika is. But both malenia and radahn lose to others like radagon and the elden beast and possibly godfrey. Idk about him.
Never seen a boss room with that many bloodstains. Beat her on my 15th try at least, and for those who uses magic, cold magic and terra magicus are very very efficient vs her. Hope this tips brings victory to some of you, my fellow tarnished !!!

Then I ran the game full melee with Golden Halberd and beat her in 1 hour despite changing my whole playstyle, its simply learning the boss! Also, that guy who beat her in 15 tries is probably a ranged caster and USED A SUMMON which makes the fight a literal joke in every sense, especially if he used mimic tear which is now nerfed. I am against using any summons and i've only used em in dungeon bosses which come in pairs or something, i'd never ruin my experience by using a summon on this boss :)¬!
Also using terra magic+ azur comet is a joke way to fight so that doesn't count either :). I took me above 50-70 tries to beat her as a mage by using COMBINATION OF SPELLS that werent even that strong because they got buffed in last patch..

I dislike that they made boss fights harder by just having them one shot you, even at 40 vigor you just get 2 shotted. Making a boss hard in a later area as if its ng4 is just cheap.
It's an optional boss and their moveset is very learnable, albeit difficult. It's supposed to be an endgame challenge, so either don't do it or get good.

I dislike that they made boss fights harder by just having them one shot you, even at 40 vigor you just get 2 shotted. Making a boss hard in a later area as if its ng4 is just cheap.
It's an optional boss and their moveset is very learnable, albeit difficult. It's supposed to be an endgame challenge, so either don't do it or get good.

nah they made them all harder by making the roll take longer to come out compared to ds3. go look it up. cannot reaction dodge in this one but you can in ds3 (and high adp ds2 and ds1)
