I'm so glad you also talked about the drawbacks of this lifestyle! I've been doing this on and off for the last 2.5 years and I've found out that having breakfeast 2 hours after waking up, going on a walk and taking a short nap after lunch are really efficient ways to restore my energy throughout the day. Regarding social life this is clearly the most annoying thing about this, and I haven't managed to solve this one yet... Also, this is a great video (as always) and I really like your work!!
That's interesting about being more creative earlier. I agree, it fits my life some days to get up earlier but not everyday. Some nights I'm out later than other nights and I need that extra sleep in the mornings. Great video! I always look forward to your experiments.
Well this comment does not have anything to do with the video But it's kinda crazy and amazing at the same time that smart phones can either destroy someone's life or make someone else to learn something. Lately I have been trying to switch into the mode of using it for benefit, learning new things, experimenting etc. Your vids are helpful man! Gl!
Hey Austin, love these videos and the results. I also tried waking up at 04h00 for about 2-3 weeks last year and had almost the exact same experience. Insane creativity and productivity from 04h00 to 06h00 but slumps around 08h00 and 12h00. Interesting to see how similar your experiment was. Have personally found waking ~15 minutes before sunrise (as it changes with the seasons) balances the various aspects you mention (mental clarity, physical energy and creativity/productivity) … just my experience. Keep the videos up man!
The weather app is quite accurate, so that’s a good start. I just find giving myself a short while before the sun rises is a great way to start the day. I think the purpose of using sunrise vs a “traditional” set time is how variances in sunrise across the seasons affects your circadian rhythm, as it could be a 2 hour difference in some cases. There’s definitely benefits to early bird/night owl lifestyles, but I find that I value balance over optimising a single aspect of my life. It fits conventional business hours, social times, and gives you 2-3 good 3 hour sessions of deep work during the day. Hope this helps!
Bro whenever I am stuck in a rut or mindlessly scrolling I pull up one of your videos and it just kicks my butt into gear 😂 I guess my brain just hears your voice and is like oop time to be productive!
Great analysis, Austin. Significant value was measured, but at what cost? Faith and relationships should always be priorities. Your conclusion reflects your values and a bit of pragmatism. You chose wisely.
I have, in fact Andrew Huberman breaks the science of first and second sleep down in detail. In his opinion he didn’t find solid enough evidence or benefit for it to
Bro, completely new to your channel and susbcribed. Really GREAT informative video 👍 , I will implement it in my life as well from today 😊. And you explained it so well 👌. And i loved your iphone color , looks very different. Which iphone model you using ? 😊
Hey Austin, I stumbled upon your channel today using my personal account and instantly subscribed. I just had to subscribe here on my business channel as well. Your videos are incredibly well-crafted and informative. Keep up the fantastic work! 😀👏 Greetings from Norway 🇳🇴💪
Why 4am? For me that's 4 hours before I have to clock in at work. I get up at 6am, and what I do in the mornings is to put on a pot of coffee, boil some eggs and heat up a couple frozen coarse rolls for breakfast and lunch. After breakfast I shower and I am basically ready to go. In the weekends I sleep in with no alarm, and usually get up between 8-11am. My schedule needs to fit me and my needs, I believe it's hard to adopt a cookie cutter way to do things, maybe tweaking and improving ones own current schedule is the way to go.
4 am because a lot of the folks who recommend it are entrepreneurs who don't necessarily have a designated life schedule, which is not a negative but its also not something applicable to 9 to 5 folks or shift workers. But I do agree that waking up earlier than needed is great. When I worked in IT, I could never wake up early enough to sit and relax before work, but that, I found, is the issue with working an 8 am shift, for me. Now working shift work, on my day shifts (5-1), I'm up at 3:45 and sitting with a coffee til I gotta leave. It's nice.
When I worked from 7am-5pm I found that I could either use the time at night for my side hustle or wake up early and do it. That’s mostly why I am trying different routines. If I was doing my UA-cam again while working a day job I’d definitely lean towards waking up early to do my creative work compared to staying up late. Also, I was just curious :)
@@AustinSchrock I just started a new job. Unfortunately it's a rotating schedule. Nights and then days. 12 hrs. Kinda sucks but kinda awesome because I have lots of days off in between and once a month I have 7 days off. I also have a side hustle. Woodworking and working on a channel so I'll have to adapt to my schedule.

Thank you! Interesting to hear your experience with it
What is interesting is that in my religion we have to wake up everyday early for prayer of elfadjer. I. Summer like now, we pray at 4am.
Interesting!
you can get wven better results with Mo's other lifehacks, such as drinking camel urine and marrying 9 year olds

That’s so interesting! I’ll have to give that a try. Did you do 15 min before the literally sunrise or the time given on the weather app?

This channel is criminally underrated
Thanks for the feedback! Not for long hopefully :)

haha glad to hear it!
Love your journal notebook - it opens so flat! Where's it from? Love the channel, thanks so much for your work 🤗
I got it from a local store! If you check my Kit.io in the description I think I have it linked in there. Thanks!
I agree, I'll try anything once but if it conflicts with things i want or need to do its probably not for my lifestyle.
I’m the same way
Keep up the good work.
Thanks, will do

Wow I'm the first here ,big fan
Thanks 🙏
5:12 don’t forget that before artificial light humans naturally had segmented sleep of at least two parts. Search ‘first sleep and second sleep’…

I’d be interested to know your suggestions around fitness and biohacking.

4 for some people because some of us don't go to work 8. Some of us have to be at work before 6. I don't mean that in a disrespectful way.
