/* ---- VIDEO INFORMATION ---- */
Okay. So House of the Dragon deals with a feuding family and the question of whether a woman can take over an esteemed family legacy. So like succession with dragons. But with this video, we're going back to where it all began. Throughout it, we're going to be breaking down the ultimate chad, the top G of Westeros, Aegon the Conqueror.
Don't turn off the video. It's going to get better, I promise. His dream is mentioned a lot throughout the series, and for those not in the know, he traveled to Westeros because he saw a world for the taking. There were unlimited riches and because he had dragons, he saw it as being something that he could easily conquer. Now, according to this secret pass from King to King, Aegon foresaw the end of the world of men seemingly protecting the coming of the night.
King. To combat this, he believed a Targaryen had to be sitting on the Iron Throne, which is why Aegon let his dragons and sisters in order to conquer Westeros. But he was Aegon. And how did he come to unify the different kingdoms of Westeros under no one throne? Well, that's what we're going to be breaking down. And if you enjoy the video, please hit the thumbs up button.
And don't forget to subscribe to breakdowns like this every day. By the way, thank you for clicking this. Now let's get into egg on the concrete. Aegon was born in Dragonstone 20 BCE. This was during the Century of Blood, which followed the doom of malaria. You might have heard the terms BC and AC bandied about a house of the Dragons breakdowns, and the latter stands for After Conquest, whereas B.C. means before.
The book Fire and Blood opens by detailing the dates of this. And truthfully, we don't know the exact specific time the AC began as the conquest wasn't done in the day. However, it gives us a rough time as to when Egg En arrived and changed Westeros. The Targaryen Lords had fled to Dragonstone prior to the doom of Ellaria and a Danish.

Let us know your thoughts on the big bad boy of Westeros
the story how dorne managed to reject the conquest with guerilla warfare is really interesting
He was a reall bad bad bad bad boy but he made his sisters feel so good.
you know there is no house hall. hall ist the keep... the halls of harren
You should do a video on aegaon’s sons
Imagine a series that goes into depth about Ageon’s Conquest I’d want to see him really doubt the Long Night dream until he sees the wall and knows everything is true his inner turmoil of what he’s doing burning countless with the end goal of saving them, butting heads with others in his war council and of course the Black Dread himself
Henry Cavill as Aegon, Freya Allan as Rhaenys and Ella Purnell as Visenya
Why wouldn't he have built a stronger alliance with the north? Or even the nights watch? Its like he never went down there after taking Torrens crown. And he just focused on dorne for the rest of his rule. It seemed he didn't give 2 shits about the whites. Why keep it a secret? Why wouldn't he have told everyone? Makes no sense
I would rather the shows not mention the Long Night dream ever again so I don't have to be reminded about how D&D ruined the greatest show of all time
that is the point of house of the dragon it’s not just based on dance of the dragons the front runners of the show has said it’s called “house of the dragon” for a reason and not called “dance of the dragons” so we will possibly be seeing aegons conquest or the Blackyre rebellion in later seasons we were told.
dance of the dragons is only gonna be 3 seasons then they will move on to another set of targyens
can't wait hopefully HOTD season 4
Kudos to whoever created the artwork and animation in this video. It’s perfect.
I hope HBO greenlights an Aegon's Conquest series. There are so many good stories, names and traditions that resonate through the GOT and HOTD because of Aegon and his sisters. Visenya was a bad ass!
Nah. ASOIAF is better.
Spoiler Alert!!!
The Azor Ahai is not one person ... but ..... the Three Heads of the Dragon.
Jon is Aegon
Daeny is Rhaenys
Tyrion is Visenya.
GRRM told D&D to change the ending and to not spoil the books.
Stop it
Movie would be better
@@abelincoln8885 how is Tyrion up there he's a lannister or am I missing something
@@stormcaller-cc4hh GRRM told D&D ... to change the endings of season 7 - 8 because he did not want the TWOW & ADOS spoiled.
Seasons 1 - 6 followed the book endings, and by the end of Season 6 had caught up to TWOW and had including spoilers.
GRRM had originally agreed with HBO to make a 10 season show, with a season for each book. He was suppose to write 10 books but decided after Season 2 & before Season 5 that there will only be 7 books, ... with TWOW being #6.
GRRM approved the Season 2 house of Undying visions for a planned 10 season Show ... and ... 10 books. GRRM told us with the two visions:
1. Daeny will take the throne in WINTER where the city has somehow been destroyed.
2. Daeny will die north of the wall that is still standing.
Again. The Show was originally suppose to be 10 seasons long ... with 10 books. After Season 2, GRRM decided to only write 7 books ... and then decided the Show will be 7 seasons, possibly 8 around 2014 which is when Season 6 was released.
At the end of Season 6 ... which had been following the book endings ... it is now WINTER in Westeros, Daeny now has a huge army & three dragons and is sailing to .... DORNE ... to join forces with her new allies arrange by Varys ... Cersei had just gone MAD QUEEN and "burned them all" who had threatened her ... Bran was at the wall heading to Winterfell to tell Jon & Sansa that they are COUSINS and Jon is a Targaryen Prince .. Arya was heading to Kingslanding to kill Cersei & Jaime ... and ... Tyrion still doesn't know why the dragon SMELLED and did not kill him.
GRRM told us in Season 2 or 10 ... that Daeny will take the throne in Winter and somebody has destroyed the city... & ... Daney will die north of the wall that is still standing.
D&D were told to change the endings of Season 7 & 8 ... and to not spoil TWOW & ADOS.
Jaime, Cersei, Daeny & Drogon .... were all suppose to die in Season 7 of 10. But GRRM decided to only write 7 books and the show will end Seaosn 7/8.
Daeny's death is in TWOW ... along with Jon & Sansa marrying ... and Tyrion figuring out at Dragonstone by watching the Dragons SMELL Daeny's nephew Jon Stark that he's her bastard brother.
TWOW finally reveals GRRMs complete story where he's repeating the conquest(salvation) of Westeros by Aegon(Jon), Rhaenys(Daeny) and Visenya(Tyrion).
The Azor Ahai ... is the Three Heads of the Dragon ... not a Jon ... or Daeny & Jon.
It is now Canon ... that Dragons can SMELL what blood you have ... and Daeny's dragons will not kill anybody that has the same blood as Daeny ... such as a nephew or a bastard brother.
Tyrion visiting Daeny's angry chained up dragons .... is the book version of Quentyn Martell vistiing the same angry chained up dragons. Quentyn had some targaryen blood ... and he stupidly believed he would not be killed, and he will be able to ride the dragons. No. Daeny's dragons are angry for being chained up. They even threatened to harm Daeny. Quentyn Martell was killed by the angry dragons. Tyrion is the book version of Quentyn .. and he stupidly believes he would not be killed because Dragons are smart & know he's a friend. Again. The Show clearly showed the two dragons were angry with Daeny and would kill anybody who approaches them, and even harm Daeny.
The Dragons were about to burn Tyrion ... then stopped ... and can be clearly seen sniffing or smelling him.
Drogon smelled Jon in season 7 & 8 ... and Rhaegal smelled Jon in season 8. Jon became the 2nd dragon rider ... but it was suppose to be Tyrion who rides Viserion before Jon rides Rhaegal.
Daeny dies in season 7 of 10 .. because she is the first of three dragonriders who takes the throne & then dies .. but together these THREE save the living from the dead.
Jon is simply the Last Hero .... of three.
Jon never gets it on with his Aunt. Jon marries his cousin Sansa .. to remain the King of the North ... and becomes a Stark. When he meets Daeny & Tyrion at Dragonstone ... Daeny has already taken the throne from Cersei ... who had gone MAD QUEEN and actually burned them all destroying the city. Again. GRRM told us in season 2 of 10 ... that Daeny will die in season 7 of 10. But GRRM decided to only write 7 books and the show till end in Season 7/8. He did not want TWOW or ADOS to be ruined by Season 7 following the book endings. This is why we had the most ridiculous plot devices & armor .... for Daeny not to take the throne in winter and not die north of the wall ... Bran will never reach Jon & Sansa to tell them that they are COUSINS ... and Tyrion will never figure out that he's Daeny's brother.
Arya doesn't kill the Night King. Jon does but he dies doing so. Bran doesn't take the Throne. Queen Sansa does ... and she will be very preggie ... and likely will have a dragon egg to start a new Song of Ice & fire. The White Walkers ( ie Targaryens) are no more ... for now.
I hereby nominate Henry Cavill to play Aegon The Conqueror. Being that House of the Dragon didn't start with him, I will presume that they're saving his story for its own show.
Idk I kinda don't want him to play as Aegon
@@lgt_jne I think he'd be a better Orys Baratheon, Aegon's rumored half brother.
@@MultiRekrap as a baratheon yes I can see that but as Aegon I just don't see it
@@MultiRekrap I agree! Henry Cavill as Orys Baratheon, Alexander Skarsgard as Aegon.
For some reason I think Keanu reeves would make a good aegon lol
Aegon was a really unique character if you have read the canon. on paper he might look pretty one dimensional and straight forward but in reality he was quite a conflicted dude. He was a unique combo of being a dreamer, warrior nd a king. He was also very solitary and lonely for someone of his standing and his relationship with Visenya was also very complicated. HBO cud use these to build a great character and show.
The Starks also have a saying in the books...
"There must always be a Stark in Winterfell".
oohhhhh
I was just doing some research on this. I would love for HBO to do a show on Aegon's Conquest. That being said thank you for this video.
I wish they would make this an actual show… and I see Alexander Skarsgard as Aegon
Perfect 👌🏾
Loved your narrative over animation 👌
thanks for the info
As always your content is so
Great 👍
Absolutely Love this video paul it laid out its absolutely marvelous. Keep up the good work can't wait for the next ones🐉🖤.
Thanks so much for this background and Beautiful artwork. Any diversion to Michael Scott/The Office makes me smile
I definitely would like a Aegon spin-off. That would be awesome
I always thought it would be cool if: Torrhen Stark kneeled because Aegon shared the prophecy and they both knew their houses needed to play their part. They realized dragon dreams and greenseer ability was connected. The other kingdoms could keep their false gods, but they needed to stay united to fend off of the real threat. Boom! Both houses are finally unite with Jon Snow, the Prince that was Promised. Full series continuity.
Good stuff
Loved the video. More lire videos would be cool
Just what I was waiting for♥️
Great video! Thanks from Brazil.
I wish HBO made a series of this story…
This was dope.
Should do the major houses breakdown.
Thank you
Aegons conquest would be a crazy show but I would only want to watch it if ut showed the rise and fall of maegor as well you could end it perfectly by having jaehaerys sit on the throne as a boy the same way we see him in the beginning of hotd
yesssss this!!
Someone said they think a Conquest show should include Maegor's reign, & end with the young Jaehaerys on the Iron Throne. I agree- Jaehaerys' lengthy reign is massive, & has need for its' own exploration.
I think the Conquest alone would be a season or two of 12 episodes, rather than 10 {part of the first season could have some important flashbacks at needful moments- exploring Aegon's youth & adventures in Essos- & what led him to look west, rather than east- as his forebears had done}, & the rest of the reigns of Aegon, Aenys, & Maegor- & the conflicts they endured, could encompass another three seasons.
I would prefer that, instead of being some cliche Cain & Abel-esque betrayal/ usurpation, the conflict between Aenys & Maegor was more an ideological clash in a shared goal: how best to go about fulfilling the prophecy of their father- that Aegon had perhaps shared his dream with **both** his wives, & though the secret was only meant to pass from ruler to heir, Visenya passed it onto Maegor- because she felt he was the stronger choice (informed by her own biases, of course) but all in order to ultimately protect Aegon's legacy & fulfil his wishes.
It could also answer the question of how the secret _survived_ * to be passed to Jaehaerys; he wasn't even close to the heir when his father came to the throne, with two brothers & a sister ahead of him- he had to have got the information from someone else - it's possible Aenys shared it with his wife- or Prince Aegon told Rhaena (maybe Aenys told *both* his children, as _joint-heirs_ to their grandfather's legacy- given Rhaena was the eldest of Aegon's grandchildren)...
*I wonder if House of the Dragon will have the secret surviving somehow- or being lost, by the end of the war...
.THANKS,. :)
I was saddened by the fact GOT never went deeper with the WW and Nigh King. Hopefully future show will
GRRM told D&D to change the ending and not to spoil the books. This is also why the show was quickly wrapped up with 8 seasons because TWOW had major spoilers ... and by the end of Season 6 they had already started to spoil the books ... and because GRRM knew by 2016 that the Show would only be 7 seasons long.
Pretty much everything in Season 7 & 8 ... are not in the books ... so if you are smart you should be able to figure out what the book ending is.
i'm glad you're watching Succession! I'm surprised you haven't reviewed it on this channel. Btw Episode 4 Season 3, Geoffery gives the biggest spoiler for what happens to Rhaenyra
I just like to point out that towards the end of your video, where you mentioned that Visenya was rumored to be barren and Aenys might be illegitimate. Aenys is the son of Rhaenys and Maegor is the son of Visenya.
To be frank though, Micheal Scott didn't declare bankruptcy, he only yelled it
Dude i had just discovered your channel are you by any chance that battle rapper deffinition?!
I really want to see this tv series exist
If HOTD does well enough, I’m pretty sure they’ll adapt this next. If not then maybe the blackfyre rebellions. Great vid per usual paul 🫡🔥
Thanks for the history lesson professor Kevin spoiler. I hope you and the Mrs and the babies are all well 🥰
Still waiting for ya to cover "The peripheral", which started out great and is actually getting better. Quality "Hard SciFi" is rare and is to be cherished.
I love Ryan Arey and all of them. Yet you were the best when it came to House of The Dragon. You just have so much knowledge, you made me by the book of Fire and Blood. About to rewatch GOT so maybe you have past videos of that?
The World of Ice & Fire is another one that might be worth reading for you.
Season 1 - 6 follow the book endings.
GRRM told D&D to change the season 7 & 8 endings and to not spoil the the books. This is why nothing makes any sense going from season 6 to 7 ... and we had the most ridiculous plot armor, and idiotic storylines to keep certain characters alive who will dying that point of time in the books.
Spoiler Alert!!!!
It is now canon that Dragons can smell what blood you have .. and ... Daeny's dragons will no kill anybody who is closely related to her.
Quentyn Martell had Targaryen blood and stupidly believed he would not be killed by Daeny's two angry chained Dragons. He was killed by Daeny's dragons trying to ride them. There is no Quentyn in the show. The only person who visited Daeny's angry chained up dragon was Tyrion who stupidly believed he would be safe becuase Dragons are intelligent and know he is a friend. lol.
GRRM likes to repeat history. And there's a reason the Targaryen emblem is a THREE HEADS of the dragon.
We need a series of the conquest
Lets go🔥🤙🏻😀
Henry Cavil as Aegon the 1st would be amazing!!
You’re brilliant ✅ Video brilliant ✅ Channel brilliant ✅ Perpetual Brilliance ✅
Brings a new meaning to sister-wives
A song of Ice and fire, I think that is Jon Snow. No? Father fire, mother ice.
Try to watch and do a video on Devil's hour, it has a great thread which is nicely presented on screen. it's so underrated due to primes dull promotion. The show has a lot of detailing as well as foreshadowing to it.
Hope you will do the analysis.❤️
Is there a link to the original source of this animation? It looks good. I would wish to watch it in its entirety
I love how these HOTD pages all put pictures of Henry Cavill as Aegon the Conqueror! He would be PERFECT for that part!
Am I the only one who doesn't want Henry Cavill as Aegon?
I can see it now, parents naming their kids Aegon and Visenya
Kings guard was not made to have best of the best protecting, but good ones from different parts of westeros and from important houses to get favor from them
Well explained Mr. Reach, sire! Would love a targaryen family tree explained in your chanel
The letter made Aegon stop trying to conquer Dorne. Dorne came into the seven kingdom with Daeron the Good (after Aegon the Unworthy) which was in 187 AC
More on this...
At this point in the HOTD timeline, Dorne hasn't joined the 7 Kingdoms yet. In the early episodes, there's a mention of skirmishes in the Dornish Marshes which Ser Criston fought in.
Surprisingly, in HOTD, the King's titles say "Lord of the 7 Kingdoms", which is technically incorrect.
But I guess the Targs always knew they were getting Dorne sooner or later.
GRRM had a reason for the ... Three Heads of the Dragon.... emblem.
And three ... closely related Targaryens conquering ( or saving) Westeros.
@@tobyjimmy7194
Maybe it was modeled on the English claims to Ireland & France- even at times when they never had control of them
Paul, King of the reach around. 🤣🤣
I think a show should be made of this character and all his doings it would be a good and interesting watch. That is if the writers stay to the storyline
it would have been great if HOTD started at the beginning of fire and blood and did a couple of seasons for each big time period throughout the history, so many good bits before viserys and dance of the dragons
Why throw all the good stuff in small season if they could make full on shows about those certain times
The absolute perspicacity on display by the westerosi
Resteros........... and then I lost it! 🤣
I am the watcher on the wall and all I look out for is a new Heavy Spoilers video
I've seen some really good Visenya fan cast , I need to see it become reality
Aegon's Conquest series would be awesome to see. For me, it's up there with a series/movie of Darth Vader being Vader. Something that fills in everything he does between Revenge of the Sith and a New Hope. And a series/movie on the life of Thanos.
Ahh a fellow king
Paulgore the cruel punner!
Dorne with the Martell OG💪
Unbent, unbowed and unbroken.
i really hope they cast Eva green as Visenya. she looks good with white hair as seen in her movie dark shadow and she can play a very ferocious badass as seen in 300 rise of an impire. not to mention she is a very good actress in penny dreadful.
The King of the north would likely believe Aegons doomsday vision, maybe he told him somehow.
I clicked for the thumbnail.
the animation was cool
how far does this one go? I am pretty far into Jaehaerys I in the book
You know what they say...
Your first born son is strong and determined.
Your first born daughter is responsible and stubborn.
And your second born daughter is the one Your first born son falls in love with.
Like poetry
The guys was a beast
Name four kings? Aegon I, Aegon II, Aegon III, Aegon IV
Aegon did what was necessary.
I think the conquest could work better as a duology or trilogy of movies rather than a series as it could be to similar to what GOT was and HOD will be.
If they continue with the level of writing that they have done for this first season, then these films could be huge theatrical releases.
And I really wanna see the Lagertha actress as one of the sisters.
I just want to know what the hell the yellow toad told our bad boy. had our boy shooked 😅
HBO budget if they pull this through about aegon's conquest, probably a billion per episode. 😮
Amazing Video Spoiler Man 👍
Paul Gang!
I’m sure it was a hundred years before the Targaryens conquered Westeros… after moving from the doom of Valeria….
Think of time as an overlapping spiral that is infinitely compressed at its Center creating awareness. It's tied into wave function collapse
And this is why history repeats it's the same thing happening just overlapped regurgitated in a new iteration essentially
Yep 114 bc … Before conquest
That's raygar swayzee
Good idea have Henry Cavill as Ageon the Conqueror, maybe a movie!!! Never thought about that.
If they ever do Aegon's Conquest, HBO has to cast Henry Cavil
House of dragons started slow finish spectacularly but I felt most of the episodes felt claustrophobic they were always indoors not like the first season where they were always off outdoors and some dramatic scenery.
The prophecy still makes sense to me. Like GoT says, prophecy will bite your prick off every time. Could be they just needed valaryan steel and dragons to defeat the Others, but you probably didnt need a Targaryen sitting the throne since the Iron Throne didnt even exist during the las Long Night.
I'd love to know what he actually saw. Did he see Dany on the throne in his vision, and was just a jerk about the details? Maybe "some chick, I dunno who but she was def one of us" wasn't poetic enough? Or he saw her fighting on Drogon and assumed she was queen? Or like you said, did he just assume they had to be in power to stop it, out of ego?
@@bloodyneptune Lol at "some chick, I dunno...." Hilarious. He either saw Danny and her 3 dragons; or maybe even Arya with the dagger.
It would be nice to know what the vision was.
I'd like to think Daenys dreamed it like she did the doom.
I like to think they knew about the Others from before because 600 years prior there was a huge fire or explosion way up north in Hard Home. It made me think maybe the Valerians knew what to do and the knowledge got lost until Daenys the Dreamer
It is now canon that dragons can SMELL what blood you have .. and .. Daeny's dragons will not kill anybody who is closely related to her.
Rewatch Season 6 ... as it fully explains GRRM full story ... and it is related to Aegons conquest of Westeros with his "closely related" sister wives.
They should’ve started with aegon
🐉👑🏰 Say what you will about them, but Targaryens are not sheep. 🐲
But....but....they always tell me size doesn't matter.......
Imagin henry cavil in hotd
So Now we Know why he left Witcher
We just gonna let it go that you used Henry Cavill as your thumbnail?
@heavy Spoilers the targaryens were NOT the most powerful empire ever in the GoT Universe. That goes to the Empire of the Dawn.
F*** around and find out 🤣
Missed opportunity to use Andrew Tate with silver hair when you said Top G 😢
I gotta say that thumbnail is lazy and COMPLETEY stupid. Thanks for the laugh.
Subtitles thoe 🙄🤯
I just realized this show isnt part of Lord of the rings...
To be fair, if you're not into it- and the fact that they _did_ just put out a Lord of the Rings prequel, - I could see the mistake
i swear Henry Cavill would be such a great Aegon
Aegon's Conquest would make a pretty boring show, because it would just be him winning and people burning(Very Predicably). I think they should instead go to the Blackfyre rebellions, Dunc and Egg, or Robert's Rebellion. Don't touch the doom of valyria, because it needs to stay mysterious.
BURN IT DOWN! lol! Please insert more wrestling references into your videos! See ya, chump! 😉
😂
Don’t forget that Helena can predict the future as well!!
She won't see the death of her children coming, though. Blood and Cheese.
