- I take a look a the 6 Ultimate Edition, the 5 Color Classics The Works, the 14 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Adventures Archie Comics trade paperbacks, the 2 TMNT Universe tpbs, and the 5 IDW hardcovers.
My boy Gem, the reason there is a big gap between issue numbers in these Omnis is because after issue 21 Eastman and Laird stopped writing and drawing the book because they were too busy managing all the other aspects of the "Turtles Phenomenon". Other artists jumped on and wrote crazy non-cannon stores until Eastman and Laird returned at issue 45. Hope this helps.

I grew up with the Ninja Turtles too. Still love them till this day. I was and still am a big Casey Jones fan myself...I need to get these omnibus's.

I got into comics in the 80's and smaller print stuff. When I first saw the art, I thought it was spectacular. It felt like an extension of the street art that was happening around that time (all the hip hop tagging and graffiti). Amazing art!!!
The way he worded the origins made it sound like “The Foot Clan vs. The Foot Clan”
Mutanimals had a 3 issue run and then a main run just like TMNT Adventures did. So Mutanimals #1-3 (Vol. 1) was included because it connected to the TMNTA storyline. They launched a new series of Mutanimals after that which went for 9 issues. The TPBs only included the Vol. 2 crossover issues which started with #6. So they actually didn't include Mutanimals #1-5 (Vol. 2) and, for some reason, stopped TMNTA at #61 despite going for 72 issues. Awesome collection though! It's rad knowing your first comic ever was probably Mutanimals #5.

I know this is an older video but I just stumbled into it on UA-cam so I thought I would explain that TCRI vs TGRI thing.
In the original comics it was TCRI, the "C" was the word Cosmic, because the storyline involved the Utroms and "space" as part of the origin story.
In the 90's movie they wrote out the cosmic storyline and based the origin story on Earth. Rumor was partly due to budget reasons and they thought an Earth based origin would make more sense in a movie format. So, they changed it from Cosmic to Global in the words TCRI/TGRI. I am sure someone else commented and probably said the same thing but I didn't want to search through all the comments haha. Hope this helps.
I love the Turtles! I have the first 3 of the Ultimate collection, the visual history book and 23 of the IDW comics! That are SOOO good! Donatello is my fav. turtle because without him nothing would get done and they would have no tools etc. He is such an underrated character!

Thanks for making this video. I'm just looking to get back into TMNT comics and I wanted to try and get collections that featured as much as possible. It kind of sucks that there's a few issues missing in the collections.

Exact opposite for me my fav as a kid was Raph but now it's Mikey. He is just adorable.
Oh, the TMNT Adventures was a big part of my childhood, but i never got them on a regular basis, so my story of them was full of gaps. Maybe i should try to hunt down those paperbacks.
Also gonna try to get a hold on the ultimate collection in either pizzabox or regular black-and-white. Doesn't matter.
Start to read the IDW Collection during the summer, and i'm hooked, so i'm trying to reading up on the stories, with great joy.

In the films they turned TCRI into TGRI because C stands for Cosmic, G stood for Global. They were not about to go cosmic in the sequel to a risky runaway smash hit indy film from 1990.

I couldn't find the hardcover of the ultimate collection volume 4 ANYWHERE online new or used, but DID find it at 2nd and Charles used but in what seems like no worse than mildly shopworn condition for $25. I think it's actually in better condition than a copy of the artisan edition of the first issue that I'd ordered that was, unbeknownst to me, listed as shopworn, which I returned.
I just finished Mirage Vol. 3, and the Return to New York issues are damn amazing. I wasn't really digging the TCRI story and Cerebus crossover, but as soon as I got to the Leo issue the series gets really great.

i buy to read and try to read as often as possible (check out my recent reads videos), but i do buy more than ill probably ever be able to read. ill have fun trying though.

One of my neighbours stole the first volume. I check with the delivery company and they told me the delviery man gave my item to who ever opened the security door to our building. I was super mad, This morons didn't even ask for ID, Just handed my item over to one of my neighbours. So on my next delivery I am staying sharp on da look out for delivery man. Did you get all the other graphic novels of TMNT by IDW? I am waiting for volume 15 dat finna come out 18 july on amazon 2023.
I'm not sure if you know this already, but the TMNT will be the next DLC characters in the Injustice 2 video game. They'll be releasing in February.

As someone relatively recent to the collecting party and with a limited budget, it does suck that good editions of great stories keep going out of print. Specially if there is a clear demand.
TheGidef yea that’s one of the reason some of us buy everything that comes out right away, even though we have a large backlog. FOLO: fear of losing out.
Tales of TMNT was a second series for the Turtles and had no bearing with the main book other than another title to tell more stories. Some of them correlate with the turtles when they fled to Northampton leaving NYC. It was like Batman's "Legends of the Dark Knight" title, told stories anywhere in their timeline. Eastman and Laird only managed do little bits of contirbutions to this title. Originally was supposed to fill the gap months when the regular TMNT series' issues didn't come out. Didn't exactly pan out that way as from 1987 to 1989 "Tales" series itself only managed 7 issues in that span. The main TMNT series was marred by other creators doing their take on the TMNT while Eastman and Laird were unable to work on it because running the TMNT empire had consumed their time. Mirages TMNT comic only had certain chunks of the Vol. 1 series count as canon and this is what mostly IDW has collected in these elite "ultimate collections" and the color "the works" line of books. Mainly only what Eastman & Laird had done.
Raphael was my favorite as a child, but now I may lean more toward Leonardo.

It jumps issues in the Mirage books because they only covered the Eastman and Laird issues in those volumes. The other issues from that run are collected in the Classics tpb vols 1-10

This is a bit late, but you wanted to know why certain issues aren't collected? Here's what I found.
According the the TMNT subreddit "only certain issues are deemed to be part of the "main story" with lesser important issues being left out."

In that link, if you scroll down to a long list of the Mirage issues, you can see which issues are collected and where.
Basically, if you want more issues of the original Mirage run, you're gonna have to buy the "TMNT Classics" books, which collect issues that The Works/Ultimate Collection doesn't collect. I think you'll find in this collection stories done by other artists/writers that aren't Eastman/Laird.

I really hope they will bring the Turtles Adventures series to hardcover, as i really dislike tpb's. If you open them to wide, pages will become to get loose... I always hate TPB's!
Probably not, but i wish they continued Turtles Adventures, because the last issue i remember there was this big guy/sumo with that black dog Inky. And i never heard anymore about it's continuation. And how further you got with Turtles Adventures the harder it became. Raphael's friendship that ends with Ninjara, Raphael who got a bad dream with acid rain. Cyber Turtles fighting Hitler, zombies/cyborgs, brains with eyes. I really hope Eastman en Laird will still continue this series after so many years. Great times as a kid growing up with the Turtles!

The Foot Clan was originally good, and then when Hamato Yoshi (who eventually changed his whole name to Master Splinter) moved to New York, Oroku Saki (who eventually changed his whole name to Shredder) took over The Foot Clan and turned them evil. When, in reality, Hamato Yoshi (who eventually changed his whole name to Master Splinter) was suppose to become The Leader Of The Foot Clan.

I was born in 1987. And when I was (guessing) 7-10.. something like that. They had some comics that was super dark... Especialy for a kid and compared to the tv series. Super dark.. or that's how I remember it. One said it's the mirage series but I am so sad because I can't find anything that makes me feels ooh THATS IT!... Searched like a maniac. do your taller books fit in the Kallax boxes? I know a lot of people use them for records, but you made me make up my mind with your library but I have some taller books like the EC hardcover series. do you know the tallest book that will fit?
T Stewart absolute editions are the tallest books that fit. If it’s taller than an Absolute, it’s a no go. My 6Th Gun Gunslinger Editions won’t fit, neither will my transformers movie adaptations.
I’ve been trying to find the right book and hopefully someone can help as I think one of those books you’ve shown would cover it: I remember my friend long ago had similar books like what you showed except I think it just had a couple of series collected. In it they were fighting dinosaurs very similar to the triceratops one shown here when you talk about dimension X. It was awesome looking through since the art style was amazing and more serious than the cartoon on Saturday tv. Any idea what volume would cover that? On eBay I believe the exact comic my friend had was, “ 1987 comic book 2 by Eastman.”

Yeah for some reason IDW skipped the story lines when they're in the Arab counties and the tie in the the mutanimals. Kinda ruined the trade run. I had to pick up the single issues and put them in to complete it.

I think you might be referring to the seceret history of the foot clan, wich on that case is found in idws tmnt vol 2 hard cover collection... The one with splinter on the front. Its the last four issues of that book.
Is there any news/date when is the volume 6 of the colored classic coming out? I see that your review is from jan 20, 2018. but still i can find only 5 volumes. I've tried googling to check when the vol. 6 is coming out, but there is no information about it at all ;/ have they canceled it or something? I would really prefer the colored, rather then the black and white ;/ but if colored remains unfinished i will be forced to read it black and white. ;s

krayziejones it's out of stock on Instocktrades but they do pop back up. Vol 3 was sold out for awhile but it soon landed online

There aren't paperbacks that collect the exact same issues per book as in the IDW HCs (as far as I know), but yes there are paperbacks for the IDW run. A big IDW book collects about 10 to 12 issues + extra stories, while a TPB collects about 5 issues per book. You can find the ones I'm talking about as "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TPB (2012- 2020 IDW)"

the ultimate collection and color classics collect the whole run by Eastman and Laird. One is in black & White and the other is in color. The runs continue past these issues, but with different creators (which is not collected).
I've been collecting the whole "The Works" comics but Volume is hard to come by, anyone have any idea where to get vol 5 for a reasonable price?
those hardcover The Works have been sold out for so long. IDW did start paperback versions of them, there's only been 3 volumes so far. released in 2018, 2019 & 2020. so sign of vol 4.
