  • Today I am renewing the Howker Hurricane model from Dinky. I received this plane from a friend in England. The donor added a suspension with wheels and a cannon on the wings to the incomplete model. To display the subtitles in your language in the movie, please press C on the computer or the three dots on the mobile phone in the movie. I made the glass, which was also missing, out of Crystalline epoxy resin. As the model did not have a rack, which was normally located behind the pilot's cabin and was used to imitate sounds, I decided to develop this project with the installation of an electric motor with a battery. It is turned on with a switch located in the place of a non-existent rack. I bought the above parts without any problems in a model shop. I was also able to buy a propeller, almost identical to the original. I painted this plane quite similar to the original and recreated the non-existent decals. I also made a box, which is currently the largest box among refurbished models. Thank you for watching the movie, I publish videos with the repair of cars on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

    What a start to the weekend, what a restoration...👍🏼✌🏼
    A flying legend and (along with the "Spitfire") the backbone of the Royal Air Force 80 years ago.
    (If I'm honest... It makes a military historian's heart "jump for joy" 😎).
    Great work Paul, I'm impressed. (Especially the installation of the engine is fantastic).
    Thanks so much for sharing, mate.✌🏼
    Have a great weekend to you and your family and stay safe and sound. Keep up the good work 😎👍🏼.
    Greetings from the DIE CAST crazy old man on the North Sea shore.

    IIRC, the slot behind the cockpit was for a thumb-wheel, which, when turned, made a clicking sound intended to emulate the guns firing.

    • @Tengu66
      @Tengu66 2 роки тому +1

      That is exactly right. I used to have one of these as a kid. There was a spring inside that the cog/thumb wheel rubbed against as you turned it, creating the same sort of sound you got when clipping a playing card to your bike wheel.

    I used to have a Dinky Toys Spitfire that actually had a small motor in it from the factory. It used to take a very small battery that was housed under a plastic cover at the rear of the fuselage.

    Said it before, will say it again, '' Wouldn't believe these restorations if I hadn't seen them with my own eyes''.
    I always try to watch one of these when I get 'internet time'. One day......I will have to have a go, though I am under no illusions, this must take vast amounts of knowledge of how materials behave and which to use, for what, and when, how, why ?

      @@BoyneShark yes the wheel behind the cockpit is like a ratchet and imitates the guns. Mine still works. I think I pulled the wheels off as they just hung low and never stayed up

    I used to work opposite meccano, dinky in binns Road Liverpool and used to get the models at low prices from the shop. Still got them in their boxes....Happy days...sad when they closed. They were more models than toys really because of the quality of them.

      you already had a great location

    • @skullcompco
      @skullcompco 2 роки тому

      @Paul Restorer I did indeed ......the sad thing was when dinky closed down the people were told by the bosses and they literally just walked out and left everything....for example if someone was eating their lunch in the canteen ..they just upped and left halfway through a sandwich. It was a sad end to a great company......I also knew the press officer for meccano, he told me that when Frank hornbybstarted the business ..and they wrote instruction books for the meccano kits, they would put mistakes in the instructions so that people would have to work out what thebprobl2m was and build it properly.....in hornbys words...it made engineers of the future......we have lost alot when dinky and meccano as was closed. Happy days thank you for the work you do on these. This stuff should not be forgotten.....
