F-16 Aircraft Restoration in a beautiful USAF Thunderbirds edition. Today I will repair and restore this legendary Fighting Falcon and hopefully make it fly again.
ABOUT THIS F16 FIGHTING FALCON
I got this broken Radio-Controlled Aircraft from a subscriber of my channel. It’s not very old, but obviously its hardly damaged with broken wing, body, rudder and thrown away, it looks very bad. The subscriber left a note for me in the package. “Hey Mr. Awesome Restoration here is a little challenge for you. You might not be able to restore this!” That’s why I just have to repair it and make it fly again. 😉
The F 16 is a legendary aircraft used by the US Air Force and many other countries all over the world and it is a relatively low-cost high performance weapon system compared to the F35. Over 1600 F16 has been build since 1976 originally build by General Dynamics for the United States Airforce (USAF) which was later sold to Lockheed Corporation, which now is a part of Lockheed Martin.
The USAF Thunderbirds has been using the F-16 Fighting Falcon to perform aerial demonstrations and they also fly two F-16D twin-seat trainers. The F-16 has been the demonstration aircraft for the Thunderbirds since the 1983 season. I really like the way they fly and the look of their aircrafts, that is why I salute them and the aircraft in this video by decorating this restoration in USAF Thunderbirds colors.
ABOUT THE RESTORATION
I started the restoration by carefully removing all the mud from the body of the aircraft so I could disable all the electrical parts like circuit board, battery, wiring and the 3 tiny electrical motors.
When the plane was stripped from all parts I gave the body a nice wash. Then I cleaned all the electronics and motors using WD40 and a toothbrush. I had to knock on the motor a few times to make it run.
I created a new rudder for the F-16 and glued it onto the body of the aircraft. I also repaired the wing by gluing it back in place the same applies to the cockpit. This radio-controlled Aircraft is made of Styrofoam, so I had to use Styrofoam friendly glue repairing and gluing all the parts.
I grinded the whole aircraft very gently and coated it in Styrofoam friendly water based clear coating. After that I gave the whole body a glossy white spray paint.
I ordered some new rudder rods, a battery, a radio transmitter and 3 propellers and some Kevlar re enforcements to support the body of the F-16.
I mounted all the electronics and the 3 tiny motors and all the rudder rods. After that I made a bottom to cover it all and to protect the parts if crash landing.
Finally I decorated this F-16 Fighting Falcon in the proud colors of the USAF Thunderbirds. So I had to print and mount a lot of tiny waterslide decals and do some custom paint.
It was very challenging to repair this aircraft and make the Styrofoam with paint and decorations look good, but I think it came out very nicely.
Unfortunately I lost the Aircraft shortly after it was launched. The plane just went straight up in the air and away. I wonder how far it went.

Where are you? Been a while miss your work
There may be a part 2 to this restoration.. after you find it. Your always keeping it "fresh" with your awesome restorations. Hope your doing well Martin. Cheers!!!!
thank you so much. Yes maybe part 2 can be done in April when the snow has melted and I have found the plane 😊
I think I know why it was found in mud.😅
Forgot to add the black box. How else will it transmit a signal after a crash?
@@AwesomeRestorationswhite was maybe a bad idea brother, if its black its easier to find in the snow😉
@@AwesomeRestorations you ever find that plane? would like an update
After seeing so many repairs of metal objects, watching you restore something made out of foam was really awesome. The solder wire connectors were cool and that heated wire saw you used to cut the foam is badass.
Thank you very much! It was a challenge to work with this material I never done that before. But I like a good challenge 😊
As a USAF veteran, I approve this restoration. 😊
Im glad you did. ❤️ Thanks 👍
I thought you restored a whole exploded aircraft 😂
That would take years
Maybe next video? Lol
He’s actually a giant and that’s a real jet. I wonder where giants buy tools?
It says RC…..?
Perhaps painting it white was not such a good idea for a winter flight… 😅
Well, hopefully there will be a test flight in Spring!
Awesome job!!! ❤️❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
no I should have made it black 😂 yes in April it might turn up when the snow is gone :)
and they said the 22 was stealthy
As a USAF veteran, thank you for making her a beautiful bird again!
thanks so much for watching 😊
9:25 "I just need to do some minor bodywork." 😆😅🤣
thanks a lot for watching I am glad you liked it. Maybe I will find the plane in 5 months when the snow has melted 😊

You’re expertise and knowledge of all the working parts of each of these restorations just blows me away each time I watch. Thank you for sharing. P.S. I hope you actually found the plane after test flying it.
He accidentally built a stealth F-16 😆
"some minor bodywork" Love the optimism
"Он улетел, но обещал вернуться!" 😁👍
imagine spending a lot of time and effort restoring such a difficult thing and... losing it in a pile of infinite snow! jokes aside, how you even completed the aircraft is amazing, i hope you can find it again lol. (that is a lot of snow, i love it
ha ha thanks . We searched for a few hours yesterday .... with out any luck 😐 now there has been a snowstorm ...so Its gone 😉🍻
Maybe use a metal detector to find it?
thank you so much 😊
Your video popped up this morning and I clicked. You truly did an amazing job with this plane restoration. I subbed!
Thank you very much!
Oh no did you really lose the aircraft? Your attention to small detail just is everything to watch, how fitting of a video this was considering it was veteran day yesterday here,my husband served in the Air force for four years so this video was very special to us,Thank You Martin and Happy Veterans day!❤🙏✈️🇺🇸
thanks so much Helen - Happy Veterans day ❤ I am very glad you liked the video. Maybe the aircraft will return in the spring when the snow has melted 😊
Restoring an styrofoam toy is some next level shit
I admire your ability to work equally well with any substace/material existing on Earth 👏🏻 Unbelievable restoration!
thank you so much 😊
It's always so relaxing watching your restorations Martin! Keep up with the good work as always. Cheers mate.
Congratulations! You really brought this plane back from the dead. That seemed like a major challenge (bigger than the usual). It really took a lot of skill to perform a good job 👏
thank you so much for watching I am glad you liked it 😊
As a USAF veteran, I thank you for doing such a great and respectful job on this plane
I’m not a veteran, but commend you for all the time and yes respect given to this restoration.
thank you so much for your comment 😊😊
I love this video! You are now qualified to work flightline maintenance on F-16's! (They're made of the same stuff lol)
I had the great privilege of seeing the Thunderbirds performing in the early 90's when I was active duty Air Force. The formation flying was incredible but I remember expressly when #1 came down to the runway and pulled his bird up almost 90 degrees and hovered over the airfield for ten seconds before throttling up and zooming into the sky. It was a display of aerial mastery that I have yet to see since. Come to the USA sometime to an airshow and you will be utterly amazed!
thanks so much for your comment. I am very glad you liked it. I have attended several airshows as a kid, also with F-16 and it is an amazig feeling - such power in those machines 😊

thank you so much for watching I am glad you liked it. Yes maybe in April I will be able to fint it again 😂
WOW! VERY IMPRESSIVE! I love your attitude of "challenge accepted"; it is VERY inspirational! When you first showed the wrecked & muddied aircraft, I thought: IMPOSSIBLE! Then, when I watched the step-by-step restoration, I thought you worked with these materials professionally! I read in the comments this was your 1st time; DOUBLE WOW! You, my friend, are an artist & master craftsman! I love it! It just shows that when you put your mind to it, you can accomplish ANYTHING! Well done! Thank you for sharing!

Você depois conseguiu achar o pequeno F-16? 😂😂. Parabéns, ficou espetacular.
thank you so much. No, but maybe when the snow has melted I will find it :)
I have just recently found your channel and have been binge-watching your videos. I LOVE that if it's restorable you do it. There are other channels out there that strip everything down, replace 90% of the parts, repaint it to the way they want it and call it restored. Such talent you have. ❤❤❤
At the end of the video, the F-16 disappears
me: Uhhhh, I'll wait until spring
yes maybe I see it again in April 😊
thank you so much for your kind words. Muito obrigado 😊

Well, in my fantasy your little styrofoam F-16 flies endlessly in the sky, guarding the land below....

Beautiful work my friend. A lot detailed work on this one. As always you did an amazing job fixing something that would probably be trash to the rest of us.
Thank you for the USAF tribute. I think you've now covered all 3 US Military Departments, now just a few branches left? Space Force restoration?😂
thanks a lot for watching. Yes maybe I shall do something space related 😂
What an amazing set of restoration skills that you have. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video. Perhaps when your snow melts a neighborhood will discover and return this restored plane. Wishing you and your family a blessed holiday season. Peace brother

I hope I can release a new video this week-end :)
@@AwesomeRestorations Жду с нетерпением))))
I'd hazard a guess that the plane was found somewhere in the Southwestern US. The shade of the dirt and the lack of water damage imply that there wasn't a lot of water, and that it was in an area too arid for that type of corrosion to kick in on the circuits or metal parts.
To the point though, awesome job.
Thanks for watching and for your words 👌
