In case you need more insight on dumpster diving... ua-cam.com/video/S6OOvTC-w-M/v-deo.html
GoHerping noice
GoHerping is dumpster diving illegal in some states
GoHerping speaking of enclosures I have a 20 long 200 bucks and an empty space in my room and I'm wondering would I should get as a pet the only thing I can't have is a snake or spider
Owen Hudson try for a lizard! Many different species could live in a 20 gal long. For example a bearded dragon can do great in a 20 long, but eventually I'd upgrade to a 40 (when they're adult size, about 2 feet) what kind of animal are you most interested in?
Kyle Merrifield I've only kept desert lizards like leopard geckos bearded dragons and that's it I'm looking to get into something with some color or something I can keep in groups I heard you anoles but they don't sell them around my area and it's too cold to get wild caught ones
I've found a 55 gallon aquarium that some one was tossing out on the side of the rode. Reason being is that it had a small crack on the bottom and couldn't hold water any more...works great for my reptiles though. Also found an Exo Terra that someone was gonna toss out. It was missing a door but the door cost 15 dollars online.
The Hutch nice finds
One man trash is another man treasure
👍🏼
The Hutch you hit the jack pot
The Hutch, even though it can hold reptiles I, being a person who has only had three reptiles, still wouldn't trust it. I think it can break underneath all the pressure. Cool if you still have it though and it still works!
What is this guys electric bill

My buddy got a 250 gallon reef tank for $100 because of tiny crack hidden in the corner! He paid more for the lid lol. I'm jealous of it.
My 2 frogs has a 656 gallon tank 😂
@@noenoodleskiely9794 how tf does that work
Joseph Joestar oh it’s custom made
@@noenoodleskiely9794 WHY THATS HUGE
your voice is so calming, is that wierd to say
Agreed

Yea I thought I use his long videos as asmr when i Finna go to sleep
I just got my tank on the flea market for 20 bucks it was dirty but other than that nothin bad with it
I've made all of my reptile enclosures with wood. I had an old desk that I didn't use and was fairly waterproof, so I made a crested gecko enclosure with it. I did coat the part that would be constantly in contact with the moist substrate with epoxy, though. So that costed $20 for the epoxy (used less than 1/4 part of the bottle), and $10 for the plexiglass door (only used half a sheet though). For the leopards, I bought a gigantic sheet of MDF for $20, it was cut to size for free, and I made 2 enclosures out of it. I bought one of these plastic rails for $6 and two sheets of acrylic for $20. I already had screws, so that was free, and I liked the MDF color, so I didn't paint it. Two 32x18x14" enclosures for $50 is not bad :)
I'm currently making a day gecko enclosure, using the leftovers from the desk, and the leftovers from the plexiglass sheet used for the crestie's enclosure. That build will be 100% free :p
Found a 40gal behind my building and a zoomed 10gal in my hallway, it's always good to also check out the animal shelters, sometimes they throw out unusable tanks.
I went to a garage sale a few days ago I got 45 gallon tank for 5 bucks not joking.
BRUH
Good for you :)
LUCKY
@@kutastone2977 I forgot I posted this lol. I still have the 45 gallon, I'm going to use it for my African Bullfrog.
'gallong' hah
Great video, Alex. The $1 per gallon sale is awesome, as is craigslist/classifieds! Another cheap option is not even using glass tanks, but plastic or rubbermaid tubs (for turtles, stock tanks and kiddy ponds, like Franklin's) Maybe not as pretty, but certainly economical. (just gotta watch out for where your heat sources are!!!)
The Turtle Girl I’m planing on making a rubber ware container for my American bullfrog and my gray tree frogs. I'm hoping I'll be able to actually make it look nice...
Animallover3541 use a Christmas tree box for the bullfrog.
You might not want to use the tub forever, but it’s still a good option.
Sofia Porras why? Just curious
@@noobycuber4128 she wants you to spend your money
Have you thought about just making your terrariums yourself? I made one to fit inside my coffee table. I went to the local glass shop and had the five pieces of glass I needed cut to size all for about $80, and then purchased some Silicone I (non-toxic and safe for pets) for like $7 from Home Depot. I used a couple large clamps to help hold everything together while the silicone was setting and viola! For about $87 I made a custom 55 gallon snake tank that fits inside my coffee table and looks so cool! I wish I could post a picture for you!
Anna Weidler
Hey now
How does the lid portion work?
if its inside it I'd assume its inside some sort of cupboard thing then if you put those office desk drawer sliders on the bottom somehow itd slide out when u go to clean it
If a product is in store that's slightly damaged, try and ask for a discount- my store will normally give at least 10% off for minor dings and such instead of writing off the product entirely
Could try the offer up app :) thats where i got a 40B for $30 and a 20 gallon for $10
Eternity A. I shall try this, thanks 🙂
Kyle Merrifield you can also search up yard sale groups or just groups for buying and selling stuff on facebook! Ive never gotten anything on fb but people post lots of things..usually not reptile related though cx or perhaps rehoming or reptile for sale groups in your area! I got my corn snake off of craigslist and lots of people end up posting pets and baby animals they cant afford to keep or just dont want.
Yes, offerup is great! Only thing I've found is that people tend to be more flaky because of the ease of messaging.
I got a 60gal for $20 no cracks at all
The guy just didnt want it anymore and it had calcium stains but that's easy to take off
I now use it for my Red-eared slider and some cichlids
I found a 55 gallon with a stand and some wood in it for $50 I’m Facebook
Another great video from GoHerping 🤘 thanks for all the great info man keep up the good work 🙂
Thank you for helping me out 👍!
I love your videos, possibly better than anyone's. Awesome info, humbleness, disclaimers and dead-pan humor. You're going to be great. You are great :)
coincidence that you posted this now, my young ball python is outgrowing his 10 gallon enclosure and im currently trying to find him a bigger one for a good price , thank you for the tips to find some ^-^
You can get a reasonably big enough tub for less than $20.
Fo to petco before november 18 and get a 20 long for $20
lizard lover at specific locations or nation wide?
this helped
You have Helped me so much thanks for everything big fan👍👍
Super helpful! Almost all of my pets (not yet my swordtail/molly aquarium) are made by ourself. Really helpful for money saving
Got the app letgo after this video and got a 20 long with a screen lock cover for 10 dollars. Only had a tiny crack at the bottom I saved so much money because of this. Which makes me super happy because I really wanted to buy more live plants for my betta and get a leopard gecko for the 20.
Well, I gotta like this before I watch because this is guaranteed to be useful.
Great info!
Another good place is family owned reptile stores. We have one near me and they did a huge tank blow out sale and it was super cheap!
To seal cracks in a glass tank, you canuse DAP (or any other brand, I guess) aquarium grade silicone caulking/sealant. You wanna use aquarium grade because it doesn't leach hazardous chemicals after it cures (hardens). Just follow the instructions closely. I've used it on my beardie's tank.
Hi I really love when you upload videos and they are really helpful but I just wanted to wish you a awesome day(:
thanks! :)
Thanks so much
love your content
I love you for suggesting dumpster diving😂 thats amazing. Its not legal where I live but its definitely something to consider
Can u plz do more videos with Ember? I really like kenyans😊
Very interested in your plastic vs glass enclosure video, when it comes out.
Craigslist is a good place to check out for animals, and cages/tanks. Also, if there are any auctions near you they are worth checking out also. I scored a 175 gallon tank for $5.00, so it's definitely worth checking into. Usually auctions have listings on Auctionzip.com. You can put the miles your willing to travel and it will give you all the auctions in that range. Most have pictures also, so you can see what they are selling before you go.
Yo, make your screen tops out of window frames, take the measurement of the inside lip of your tank, make a window frame at Ace hardware. The 5/16 inch thick window frame is absolutely perfect it fits so flush and generally as long as it's around about a 20 long or 30b it should only cost you about $14. Larger sizes should only run you around $10 more :)
Yes
Thx so much alex i just got done with sleep peralisis, and while i was going through it i closed my eyes and focsed on your voice it helped me calm down, though talking about some cheap ol cage, it helped a lot, thanks. XD. i think you deserve what happened, ok so i was asleep and, ya know i half awoken i relized it was sleep peristalsis so i closed my eyes, knowing i was going to see something i "closed my eyes" then i relized your voice was playing, i was able to move enough where i could turn it up, i did, i put my head down, knowing thiswas exerrting energy from my limp body. i focused on your voice, started breathing calmly. i could not see the video though, i was watching my snake move throughout its cage before i shut m eyes. somthing massaged my neck then wrappd its arms all the way around me (clearly not anything real just my imagination). then i was at my school, no i could just feel it i could sense it, but i kept your voice, telling myself someone was there, comforting me, if youve ever had sleep peralisis you know you get really tense, and scared. then i heared alex's (my snake is also called alex XD{i didnt know your name before i got him} a cowinkadink) waking me up, and being happier, now im going to peaceful sleep at 2:30 AM on 11/10/17 thank you your the best
I use a tub for my turtle, that's because its the perfect size, and I customized the lid (with hardware mesh) so there is good ventilation. I don't get why people hate on people who have tubs.
A 20 gallon in the netherlands cost like €100-150
first to like your comment yay for you
same in the uk
Er staat genoeg op marktplaats hoor
Hebben jullie misschien tips van waar ik het beste kan kopen? Ik dacht aan Blue Lagoon maar kost wel rond 175 euro.
Voor een 80x50x50
I will probably be getting a leopard gecko soon and I have a 20 gallon tall tank but it seems like she wouldn't have very much space in there so I was looking for a 20 gallon long tank (which is 72 more square inches) and I found a nice one with a screen cover for only $40.
You can also get aquariums from Walmart in the pet care section and they’re like $12-$20
I saved a lot of money by going into one of my sheds and finding one of my grandads old fish tanks (the lid isn’t the best but I’m able to improvise)
thanks i’m looking to upgrade my crestie’s tank, he’s getting big
Hiya! I was wondering if you can do am episode revolving around scale rot/mouth rot. I recently gotten a ball python and I fear he may have mouth rot.
i just want to be ur friend irl
Craiglist is great, I found a crested gecko that came with a 20 gallon tall for 60 bucks and a ball python with a 20 gallon tall (I switched to a plastic bin immediately after and plan to get a 40-50 long) for 50 bucks
I started my beardie in a 10gal because he was only like 6-7 inches, but I KNOW I need to upsize within a couple weeks to make sure he has enough space because they grow fast....really hoping I can find a good cheap tank...
Goodwill and St Vincent de Paul are great place to score good tanks. I think Vincent de Paul is merging with Goodwill.
I recently got a 40 gallon with stand for 30 dollars at a yard sale. Also came with a heat mat (if it works which they just bought it so it should) I will use it on something else, and a dish. I threw out the driftwood as it was very dirty. The tank will house a crested gecko.
about a month ago I found a 50 gallon national geographic front opening door enclosure on the side of the rode i cleaned it up and i am currently in the process of making a background for it
What do you use for shelving for the tanks?
Sorry if I haunt watch any of your new videos BC of school and etc but I really like this video BC its really got information but I already got a gecko and a cage and all that free BC my friend gave me it (gecko and the care stuff) BC her another gecko died and she thought it was her fault and it wasnt. GREAT VIDEO I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
How's your gecko
Ive been thinking of making my own enclose making sure to follow ventilation, lighting and space requirements. Plus ill be able to make it to the exact size I need. So plaese tell me if this is a good idea when I follow all safety guidlines to ensure the happiness and health of the soon the be snake.
you can get a 10 gallon with no lid that holds water at any walmart i have been to walmarts in like 20 different states and they have all had 10 gallon tanks for around 14 dollars depending on state its normally between the bird and fish area and of course they have other aquariums at walmart but there in boxes so you cant see if there broken but i would just get two of the 10 tanks and just connect them some how if you have two
I have found enclosures on the curb on trash day some times they are in good shape
Hey are you going to charlotte repticon in December?
I was thinking of making my own out of plexiglass for my bearded dragon. I want it a little wider than an aquarium. Do u think glue would hold the sides together? U can score it with a utility knife then just snap it off. Its pretty cheap & wondering what u think of this idea?
i got a 55 gallon for $75 on an app called Let Go, one 10 gallon from the side of the road, a 20 gallon high/deep for $5 at my neighbor's yard sale, and all the others were given to me by various friends ( a 10 gallon that used to have a gecko in it ( she had gotten a bigger tank ), a 10 gallon that I got with a friend's Hermit Crab, a 30 gallon ( no lid ) that we got with a bunch of fish, and a 15 gallon that Bearded Dragon was in ( he was upgraded to the 55 ))
at an ollies there was a 90 gallon for 50 bucks because the middle divider was cracked and the filter was missing but you could just remove the divider and you don't need a filter for a reptile if you wanted to you could even glue a piece of cardboard, glass, wood, plastic, ect into the slot for the divider and it was only 70 dollars before the break it came with gravel and a few fake plants
Can try Nextdoor app too!
I managed to snag a 90 gallon aquarium with a stand for 50 bucks on craigslist i think. It now contains my growing moray eel named Quinn.
You should do videos of Quinn
Yesss!! Love this ! OFFER UP THE APP IS GREAT 2
I tried looking for a 60 gallon or 75 gallon for my reptile but I can't find one
Hey bro i got a 30 gal snake tank with the screen hood i was thinking would it be ok if i put a heat lamp on him i have a under tank heat with a jumpstart
i find a lot of good deals on Facebook market place. about 2-3 months ago I found a 125g planted aquarium with the stand, two canister filters, two heaters, two powerheads, lights, driftwood, a bunch of big java ferns and all the other misc. fish keeping items all for 200 bucks
I just realised, I can get these cheap at op shops and the dump shop.
does a tank for a ball python need to be a certain height
Can you do a video on how to fix crack in enclosures?
Could use aquarium safe silicone and let it cure for 24 hours
@GoHerping What's the best enclosure for a ball python in a house with someone who thinks snakes are creepy, but at the same time you also want to have your ball Python comfortable? And I have a Rottweiler so the ball Python wouldn't be able to get out on it's own. What would the enclosure be best for that?
Can u use large plastic storage bins for bearded dragons
same question... i know im very late but have you found this out ???
I haven't watched the video yet so sorry if this is already mentioned, but be aware of when petco is having its 1$ per gallon sale ! I just got a 10 gallon for 10$!
u been successful on breeding green anoles? just curious cause they're so easy to breed but u usually have to wait till the anoles are ready. and I've seen your videos from when u caught them
This is the video for me
I got a 2 gallon tank for $4 at a Ark Thrift store and a 20 gallon long and a big box of supplies for $20 a a yard sale
I won 2 goldfish at a far as an experiment and they have been the least troublesome of all my 13 fish
Do you need a lid for leopard geckos I have been thinking on getting one and what size gallon do you need for a leopard gecko pls respond anyone
Thaaaankkkkkkkk youuuuuuuiuuuuuuu
I saw a great deal on a 50 gallon on Craig's list but the lady never responded. I hope I can find a good deal on one here locally. I'm going to get a cage custom made but it will be awhile due to the price.
My leopard gecko is currently living in a used 20 gallon fish tank. I'm planning on buying her a front-opening terrarium that is a little bigger.
I got a super cheap 15 gallon bowfront from a family member. Ask around in your family, chances are that someone has one collecting dust in the garage.
Craigslist surprised me, I looked for about 10 min and found 5 40 gallon tanks at around $30-$60 each. One even comes with an LED light.
Yeah I need a 120 gallon for my lizard. Ive seen them retail for $1,000
I got 1 20 gallon high , one 20 gallon tall and a lid for each for 15$ from a reptile expo
Psst... Pet Supplies Plus regularly had reptile tank and aquarium sales for either dollar per gallon for 50% off (I got a Zilla 40 gallon with a sliding top for only $54 instead or $108). They have more sales then any other chain pet store I’ve seen.
I bought a 10 gal for 10$, I need another one. The pricey part is the heating.
May i ask where you got it? I'm looking for a 10 gal cuz I plan on getting a leopard gecko and its pretty pricey wherever I look-
Lemon Snake they have some at Walmart. Like 10-20 bucks
I thought 10 gallons were too small??
@@loloorangeo Its ok, but a litle bigger would be good
@@poplix2704 yea i think a 20 gallons would be good 10 gallons sounds very small maybe for a juvenile tho
I use letgo to find enclosures cheap also and there are a ton of them
Where are you shopping that has sales for $ per gallon.. omg I need that! 🧐
I found a 29 gallon tank with all of its accessories for 5 dollars at a garage sale! I was very surprised. There was also a 10 gallon for 2 dollars but my mom said no more tanks 😉 hehe.
Lps Animals my family has said no more, but I always end up with more. I currently have 5 with fish in them, and 2 that will be terrariums soon, and one that my dog broke. :-[
Lps Animals oh and a critter keeper with a spider. I also raise rabbits, and chickens. I also have a bunch of cats, 4 dogs, and a turtle. They say no more pets but I always wind up convinceing them to cave lol. 😉 my pets are all well loved, and I'm sure yours are too.
Lexi's Veggie Food 😂 I’m the exact same way! I’m working on convincing my parent for gerbils 😉 I would LOVE to have that many animals!
MooMoo TV they can be a handfull, but worth it.

I’m looking to get a ball python i think I’m going to custom make a 75 gallon tank, also, do you sell reptiles?
my beardie is in a 220 gallon enclosure. it's a wooden enclosure with glass sliding doors. I think I got it for about £280 which I thought was quite good. this video kinda changed my mind a tad bit lmaoo
I just bought a 40 gallon at a Goodwill for $5. Didn't need it but couldn't pass it up.
I have my 4-month old Spotted python in a 10-gallon glass aquarium with a screen lid -- problem is this little guy keeps escaping at night, and I have no idea how he's doing it or what to do with this screen lid to prevent him from escaping. Any ideas ?
Can you make a video about gecko having airpockets BC my gecko has it. GREAT VIDEO I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
Is this what you mean? ua-cam.com/video/SWqGGA50co0/v-deo.html

Can you make a video about snake pee/poop and cleaning it? Thanks, keep up the great videos, Alex!
Unfortunately dumpster diving is not an option were I am.... lucky.
P.S. Great placement of the dubia play button I sent you.
Indiana Herps and Invertebrates my mom just won’t let me 😂
Does a ball python need a heat lamp and a hear pad? Or can I just use the heat mat?
A heat lamp is probably a MUST, they NEED a basking and daylight source, and a heat mat also can work as long as it doesn’t get to hot.
I have had five fish for of 1 year got them in 2016
Im in the aquarium hobby and every once and awhile i have extra tanks. Im thinking about turning an extra 5 gallon into a reptile tank.
I also have a 10 gallon ill probably do aswell (its seal is bad)
