  • Sorry everyone for the mismatched audio...will try to figure out how to fix this. For some reason, the audio is not synced when I talk about Laughing Stock & Burrowing Owl but it is synced for Nk'Mip.
As viewers and subscribers know, I am pretty harsh on BC wines. But I believe there is one category where BC wines really shine, which is rose wines. Unlike most other types of wines, BC Roses are actually often cheaper than export wines. This is my beef with many BC red wines...they are more expensive than exports even though we live in BC.
Rose can be produced in a number of styles and I think BC using Cabernet Franc to produce their roses is a recipe for success.
In this video we are tasting:
    Laughing Stock Vineyards 2023 Rose
    Nk'Mip Cellars 2023 Winemakers Rose
Burrowing Owl Estate Winery 2023 Rose
    Laughing Stock Vineyards
This is their 5th vintage of Rosé wine. It is named "In the Pink" , which is a financial expression that describes an investor or the economy as being in a good financial position or in good health. Laughing Stock's original owners were financiers so their bottles are unique in that they feature a ticker tape of the price of various stocks on the day the wine was bottled. The winery was established by David & Cynthia Enns in 2003 and sold to the Arterra Group (formerly Constellation Brands) in 2017. It is a blend of 85% Gamay and 15% Pinot Noir. The grapes are whole cluster pressed and fermented mostly in stainless steel (85%), while 15% was fermented in neutral French oak puncheons. Only 350 cases of this wine is produced.
For more information about the winery, please see their website at www.laughingst...
    Nk Mip Cellars
Nk'Mip is the first Indigenous winery in North America and winemaker Justin Hall is part of the Osoyoos Indian Band. The wine is a blend of 90% Cabernet Franc, 10% Pinot Noir and is fermented in stainless steel tanks
For more information about the winery, please see their website at www.nkmipcella...
    Burrowing Owl Estate Winery
Burrowing Owl was established in 1993 by the Wyse family. The estate is named after the endangered burrowing owl. The wine is made 100% Cabernet Franc grapes from both their Osoyoos and Oliver vineyards. The wine is fermented in stainless steel for 3 months

Thanks for the BC rose review! If you have a chance, try Painted Rock Rose - it should give you a slightly more intense palate - my preference would be a year+ of age to round out the wine
Edit: Love the voice over + photo format!

kevinw: thanks for the support but sorry for the miss matched audio...will get it corrected for future videos (there is one more like this where audio is miss matched).
Actually, Burrowing Owl is quite intense and Nk'Mip, despite the color has an edge to it so that is why I like these wines....not just sipping wines. Cheers!

I enjoyed this format! Keep these coming!!👏👏
In the genre of pink wines, Chateau Minuty from Provence has been my favorite--specifically their "M" label even more than their fancier "Prestige" because it offers more bounty of floral fruit flavors while still slightly minerally (also great with clams and branzino) while the latter is a bit more muted overall while not that much more minerally.

mickey: thx....better than looking at me for 15 minutes! I just have to get the audio corrected.
Great thing about BC wines is that they are very reasonable priced. I think your wine that you mention would be at least if not more than these wines. That is why I think BC Rose is a wine type that I can support. Very comparable with other Roses in the world. Cheers!

I understand your sentiment,@@TrophyWineHunter. Except being where I am in the U.S., the reverse is my case with the BC Wines being hard to source and Chateau Minuty being easier (and reasonably priced).
