- I've been wanting to do a Klaus Schulze tribute since his sad passing in April '22, but wasn't sure how to do it as most of my favourite tracks of his would be really difficult. So this is a 20+ minute semi-cover or improvisation on a theme, loosely based on the track - 'Sequenzer (from 70 to 07)' from his album Kontinuum (2007). Hope you enjoy it!

Recorded direct to DAW.
Video shot on a Sony A6400 and 16mm prime lens. Editing and colour grading done in Da Vinci Resolve.

I watched this last night and I'm back again this morning. Stunning work Pat. Absolutely fantastic. If this piece had been added to Kontinuum, nobody would have doubted it was made by Klaus himself. A superb tribute to a creative genius.

This is simply brilliant and mesmerizing. And, as always, perfectly high production values.
Klaus and TGD were instrumental how music from the other part of the world help shaped ours (depends on if you're from the East or West).
It showed that Music has no barriers.

RIP Klaus. Ever since I "found" your music a couple of years ago (avid listener on Spotify/watcher on UA-cam here, along w/my wife and musician daughter), I've always believed you were the heir to Tangerine Dream. Your version of Love on a Real Train that always starts off your Spotify list is amazing. I've listened to it probably 200 times easy, and it always always enlightens. Looking forward to being in attendance in 7 minutes!

I know some will argue - and I say this as a 40-year TD fan (my favourite band ever) - but State Azure's output outclasses recent TD work. Having said that, music is not really a competition. We should just celebrate that people are making music like this, and also celebrate the TD heritage from the 70s and 80s. And the KS output from the 70s to 2020s.

I am really going to miss Klaus and him bringing out weird and wonderful albums, just waiting for his newest one to come to me in the post. During migraines I sometimes listen to his albums as they help my brain focus on something other than the migraine fairy playing his bell in my head
My love of Klaus goes way back to Time Wind, along with TD from Phaedra onwards, so some might say I'm a veteran follower of Synth music. Klaus was an exceptionally gifted synth composer. This is a great tribute to him through the use of your superb talent.

Not surprising to hear some Blade Runner thematics in this composition. Compelling and thoughtful improv nearly brings me to tears remembering the genius of Klaus and his phenomenal music. Hearing some of it here is a delight. Thanks, SA!

I am listening to this grieving about my cat Baloo which I had to let go last night. The two of us always listened to State Azure‘s music together in my mancave. He loved State Azure’s music a lot, too, it will now always remind me of him. I am just so sad now.
So sorry to hear about Baloo. Remember the nice moments. I wish our cats could have much longer lives, but at least we can give them lots of fun, love and comfort in their short times with us.

It is a nice thought that the departed might be aware of the legacy they left behind. If so, Klaus should be very proud of all he achieved, and no doubt he is enjoying this track by State Azure. Perhaps Klaus and Edgar are sitting in their new cosmic address comparing the tributes made in their name. I would like to think so.

Thanks! The lead is a layered combination of Repro-1 and Wavestate (native) custom sounds I made. Iridium wasn't actually used at all in this piece, though I think I could have made a really cool lead in that just as good probably.

I think it was just an Eflat minor, but there might be a mix of scales going on. I'm not classically trained and can't always articulate correctly. Glad you liked the piece!

I always considered you a contemporary Klaus Schulze, nobody has understood so well the principles of his early 70s recordings. So seeing this homage after his death will be really emotive. And in a non related topic, what's the VST or application that you use for visualization in the tablet? I really need to add this to my workflow in Bitwig :)
