I'm so glad you added in the ear part. It's the only reason I wanted to make this hat. So thank you for not leaving it out. It's a very cute hat.
I just want to say thank you for the clear instructions and the clear zoom in's while you work. I've always struggled with stitching seams of double crochet rows, and now I know how to do it thanks to this video. This will help me when I make this hat, and also in future projects!🥰
Thank you for adding that about the ears. I've been trying to make this hat over and over, and no one really tells you about the ears. Thank you!! 😊 Finally, my frustrations are over. 🥳
That stitch you used for the first DC in each row is interesting - I've never seen it before. It seems cleaner than a normal turning chain and could make joining those edges a little easier. Looking forward to trying it!
Accidentally made it into a bucket hat, idk what i did wrong but it's cute lol thank you for the tutorial!
A bucket hat with ears..
Not a bad idea
I might make that for myself.
Idk how it'll look but oh well
It honestly doesnt look bad! A lot of people have complemented me on it oddly enough

LOVE the look of this alternative double crochet to begin the rows!
i’ve already made two and i’m so obsessed! thank you so much for sharing the pattern!!
I love how you made the beginning chain in every row. I've never seen it like that and I love how it looks. I'm thinking about using it for most of my projects now so ty💙
Thank you so much!!! this was so clear unlike others I tried following along to yours was slow ❤
Thank you for the video! This is the 3rd beanie I've made from your tutorial. I love how you make the ribbing on this one, it's my first time doing it like that :)
I made it in a day & I love it ❤thank you so much for your an amazing tutorial 🥹
it turned out so cute !! thank you so much for sharing! your instructions were so clear and easy to follow :D
I love this pattern! The only thing I’ll do differently on my next one is stitch up the side, tie off, then place that seem in the middle before stitching up the top. That way the seem will be in the back and not the side. Your tutorial is perfect!
This is an amazing tutorial! Because this is my first time I’m very slow but I’m so proud of the progress already ☺️ thanks 🫶🏻
really cool tutorial, thanks for sharing!
Wow...I'm amazed.... thank you ❤❤❤
I love this hat 😊
joining the sides was harder than i thought. I messed up some turns and some stiches got twisted up. I got it now and working on the ribbing !
i love this tutorial! thank you so much! after three tutorials and three tries, i finally finished a piece! 😭 it’s only been a week since i started crocheting. thanks a lot to you and your detailed tutorial 🥺💗 i love how my work turned out! 💗💗💗
Thank you so much for watching and commenting!! I’m very happy I helped you finish a project 🥰🥰
Thank you so much !! I’ve been loving your tutorials 💜💜 so easy to follow and fast to make! Thank you for including how to shape the ears at the end. This is such a perfect hat !
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I was able to follow it thoroughly and creat my own cat beanie and I’m a beginner crocheter 🥰
Adorable ❤
i appreciate the measuring, i use 4 ply its helpful to know if my work is just right.
Thank you for this tutorial, the instructions are very clear!
I’ve made cat beanies before but didn’t love the pattern I was using. I found this tutorial after being asked to make cat hats for a fundraiser and it’s perfect!
I specifically like how this pattern has ribbing and better shaped ears than others ❤
omg I made it in one day!!! I´m so happy, this is so rewarding. Thank you so much!!!
I've bewn working on this all day and it's turning out SOOO CUTTTEE

hello there :) as a super beginner, is there any name for that stitch you use that other people commented on? the one for the first DC in each row! I would like to dig deeper into this and learn more about it but I am not confident enough to just learn it from the video yet..any stitch names or suggestions please? Thank you in Advance! and great work :)
Looks like a bee 🐝 hat so cute I love ❤️ cats 🐈 my favorite animals
So Cute 🥰 my daughter has a shirt this color. I will make her one these colors. Definitely subscribing because you are a great teacher.
I saw you uploaded this and thought of my friend who likes cats… I have to make this for her as Christmas present🤩💜Thank you for this video and tutorial🥺
I did a miskate and im almost finished😭im redoing everything ☹️
The way you say double crosheeeeiiiii 😊🥺
Hi I've just subscribed! I have not crocheted in 4 years! I used to but I got pregnant with my 3rd child and busy with life.
But I stumbled on your video and you have reignited my love for crochet!
I'd love to make these for my kids
23:25 hi Cherilyn 😊 thanks for leading a very nice and clear video on making this cute cat hat!! 🐱
I made itt it was so easy for me your explanation helped me a lot thank youu❤❤❤
thank you so muchhhhh ❤❤❤
Thank you cery much :) 😊
Made this hat today! Looks so cute on! ❤ thanks for the tutorial it was fab.
I made this a few years back for my neighbor's granddaughter and she loved it. I came back because i couldnt remember the pattern to make doll sized ones lol.
This will be my 5th piece after a scarf, armwarmers, a hat and a hoodie - scarf...thanks for this.
Thank you so much I may be very young but I was able to make this! Very easy😁
In Cherilyn Q we trust! I've been following your patterns for about a year now, and you've yet to let me down. Thank you so soo much (//^^//)/
Aww thank you so much for your support. Your comment literally made my day! 💕💕🤗
يعطيتس العافيه على هالشرح بيض الله وجهتس
This is guna be so cute im excited to try it!! Imma use a fatter yarn so idk we will see how it goes 😂😂
Thanks for this! ?It's hard finding easy to follow tutorials for cat ear beanies that aren't jsut a rectangle that looks vaguely like cat ears
i don’t get how the ear part is done but it looks nice without it too! thank you :)
I just use a needle and thread and sew diagonally to get that more defined cat ear effect and it worked :)
I started this piece and its so easy, maybe too big, but I will see
does anyone have any tips for joining DC seams with fuzzy/chenille yarn? i might just need a more pointed hook to prevent the loops im trying to pick up from slipping off but im also just having a hard time identifying the right loops
Loving the tutorial! 💜 I only have size 3 yarn available right now, so I was wondering if I could use that instead of a worsted yarn type? Or do you think it's too thin for beanies?
Im making mine right now and I may not get a response before I reach the point where ill be as far as the video and ill just see what happens but mine is kinda weird. My crocheting looks right and is actually surprisingly neat for me. The problem comes with the size of it before the joining step. Im at 11 rows and mines only 4 1/4 inches. I guessed that adding on the 12th row will get me just barely to 4 3/4 inches. Thats not near her 6. Should I add another few rows to add one more color stripe or judt leave it at 4 3/4 inches?
at 8:50 are we suppose to put it through the single back loop or both the loops?
Pls i need help!
After a round of ribbing do i do a slst and ch2?
I'm confused about the ribbing, she counts 5 but I see 6 rows. I don't understand?
AAAAHHHH I've literally been doing this for three days, why am I so bad at this?? It keeps spreading out.
@Pho Jane Syhavong I think so too, I'm trying to do better but it's kinda hard to tell. Lmao.
Hey what happens if it's an uneven number of stiches? op said to make sure it's an even number
@@Thepresident498 the even number chain is for the ribbing to get it to match on the seam. It kinda matters if you really look into it
@@Thepresident498 hey! ive been making these beanies for awhile... and from the ones I've made, even or uneven numbers shouldn't matter! but, you should make sure that your not doing to many loops on the second row (like going into one more than once) because it makes the beanie get wider and wider. I've had this happen multiple times, and had to start over. but good luck!
I just wanted to say thank you so much ♡ I'm a crochet beginner and it turned out so well!! Now I'm about to make a second one so that my bf and I can match 😳
Cool
Made it all the way to the ears...without actually showing how it's done, yes, as a crocheter for many , many years, I got confused. "Mimicking" isn't the same as actually doing it. Don't know why the process is escaping me while so many other commenters "got it," but I'll either keep working at it until I get ears, or I search for a tutorial on how to create these ears, LOL! Just confused as to why the KEY feature of this beanie isn't actually worked in the video, but instead, I'll show you how I did it without actually doing it...strange.
I need more tutorial for shaping the ears😭
Its my first crochet and i got the first row done in one day bit it looks different ccompared to hers. I dont understand where she put the hook through the chain. The double crochet thing is very difficult but i keep trying 👍🏻
Hello! Really love this hat, and I'm almost finished with it. Though I'm really confused on the part where we shape the ears, do we do a running stitch that stitches the back and front together or do we only stitch through the front side?
Hi! Sorry about the confusion. Go through both pieces together as if they were one.
I was wondering do you have to use the double stitch? I hold my needle and yarn all in my right hand and it makes it really hard to do. so can I use the single stitch and still get the same results?
You can change the stitches. If you substitute 2 sc rows for 1 dc row, you don't even need to change the measurement. 2 post sc rows for 1 post dc row at the ribbing as well.
This is the best cat beanie tutorial ever
Very easy to understand
I made mine and I’m absolutely in love with it💕
You just earned a subscriber
Thanks for this! I could not get the sewing bit but it looks good regardless~
You’re welcome 😊 If you need more help with the ears, check out the pinned comment.

hey Cherilyn! love the video. My hat is turning out wonderful so far, it looks lovely. But, there is one, rather major, issue with my piece. I noticed one of the ends kind of forming a slant in the beginning, which I thought would even itself out. It did not. I have made it 14 rows in, and there is about a 45-degree slant on one end of my piece. I'm not 100% sure what I have done wrong and I've tried troubleshooting online, but to no avail. I would appreciate your feedback! Thanks for your time.
Hi! Thank you so much! It sounds like on that end, at least 1 st is missing. Although it could more likely be 2 sts if it's 45 degree. Does your last row have the same st number as row 1? If not, you may have missed the first st at the very least. I hope this explains the problem 🥰
Made this and it's very cute..I wanted to review it somewhere for you but none of the sites will let me. Turned out great.
My stripes aren't coming together very well. They look "separated" by the alternate color. Any idea why this could be happening?
I didn’t make it big enough for my head shape 😭 (still on the first layer). Should I add more length in the other end and then come back to the other side to add the 2nd color? I’m a beginner idk
Yes you can add more length but I would start from the beginning. I personally think it’s easier that way ❤️
does anybody know of a tutorial that shows something similar to the ear part at the very end? also are we tightening on both the front and back sides? im feeling a little lost
would you be able to sew up the sides with a needle instead of doing the slip stitches, or would it turn out differently? love the tutorial :)
Yes, you can do that! Depends on what stitch you use to sew it up. I personally like mattress stitch.
how can i take my head size 🧍🏻♀️
I really wish that she went into detail with the ears part because I’m slow and still learning… beautiful beanie and mine turned out well… except being able to finish off the cute ears 😢especially since her tutorial and cat beanie is the best I’ve seen online
Hii check out the link in the pinned comment. The newer tutorial should help you with the ears.
FINALLY!! Yarn and hook that I have. Is milk cotton fine as long as it’s 8 ply?
Cheri, are we able to stitch a decoration on this version? I'm making a black one and wanting to put a yellow crescent moon on the band
@@CherilynQ yes!!! 🥰 after luna, i plan on making one like Artemis to give my nephew 🥰🥰
Hello!!! So excited to make this, thank you for sharing :D I was just wondering how I could go about measuring the dimensions of the hat. For example, with the hat you made being 10 inches wide, does that mean the diameter of your whole head is 20 inches? Do I measure exactly or do a little more because I want the beanie to be a bit stretchy-er? Thank you :)
Hi! Thanks for asking. If the beanie width is 10 inches, when it's being worn, it'll be a circle measuring 20 inches in circumference, not in diameter. It might be easier if you just make the beginning chain and then wrap it around your head to measure it.
If you want it stretchy, I think some acrylic yarns can help achieve that. Although it depends on the actual yarn, I'm afraid you'd need to look into that more. You can also try using a slightly bigger hook. It should help too!
@@CherilynQ Thank you!!! Clearly I have completely forgotten all my math skills omg didn’t even realize I didn’t say circumference 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
How do I change the size?😊❤️
Hi, I’m late to the party, but I did it! I didn’t have any problem. Not sure I did the ears right, they aren’t as good as yours, but are okay. I didn’t want to do the sack hat. I wanted more prominent ears. Looking forward to trying next one so I can clean up my stitches and seams. Thanks!!!
Hii! Can you tell me what kind of yarn did you use? And how many yarn... 🤭
@@maconha7687 Hi, I just used part of a skein of Walmart Mainstay brand, worsted 100% acrylic.
can you do this if you slip stichted the yarn
slip stiches instead of double crochets? Its possible but you need more rows because slip stich rows are thinner than dc rows
I am THE WORST knitter/crocheter in the whole wide world. I tried this tutorial with a bulky yarn (because it had sparkles on Christmas mix of colors and there is a kid who loves cats) and for some reason at a certain point I realized the yarn was finishing. When I looked closer, the "hat" had spread out from it's initial row in a nice fan shape, wide enough to be a skirt :))) Trust me, the kid did try it on as skirt. We settled on turning it into a scarf with a nice button. I am so happy with my result, although it couldn't be further from the initial idea.
Why do you change the stich at the end of the row? Just wondering!
Киса,,,😻😻😻
Does anyone have any tips for me for shaping the ear part i’m having trouble trying that part
ua-cam.com/video/y2Mukk4v6YA/v-deo.html
this video shows a more in depth way to do it !
Tip: If you feel that the chain start doesn‘t „feel“ right, you can look up how to do a foundation row. This is definitely one of the times that it can make all the difference. TL YarnCrafts did a wonderful tutorial for foundation dc. ;)
