Pure genius! I bought stainless steel zip ties and the tightening gun on Amazon, doing my valves this weekend, thanks for such a money saving "hack". Stellar sir!
Bought my first 2022 Challenger RT about 2 weeks ago. After watching your video, I just ran to Harbor Freight to grab some steel zip ties and a little ratchet set. I’ll circle back with the results!
Well I am back and pleased to report that this gentleman absolutely knows what's talking about! I ended up opting to use heavy gauge steel wire to do this as opposed to the steel zip ties, as I found the steel zip ties simply are too rigid to be snugged up tight enough to hold the valve securely. However, I can report that from removing the spring and using the steel wire to keep the valve open, there is NO check engine light, whether I'm in regular or sport mode and I can hear NO discernible difference in my cranks, revs and gear shifts. This was exactly what I was looking for! Thank you for the video!
Is it still holding up, I got a 2020 charger RT & starting to hear rattle in my exhaust, was going to order the z automotive active exhaust delete but this would be wayyyy cheaper
I did this to my 2022 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack, and I can't tell any difference. I even have it turned the same way you do. I even got under my car today to see if the Zip Ties held up and I put some new ones to make it tighter. But I hear no difference. I got the springs in a box. I'm tempted on putting them back on and have myself a mid muffler delete done to my car, lol.
I’ve had my 21 TA 392 done this way for a few months now and has held up just fine! Update 6/2022- Zip tie came loose on both sides, which caused my valves to not be held snug. Yesterday going down the road I heard a strange rattle at certain RPMs under acceleration and come to find out that was the issue. Still not a $200 investment I care to make on a kit. I’ll swap to wire and wire it open again.
Seems on start up there is a slight difference in tone. I think im going to go the mid muffler delete but great video very well done and stright to the point.
I’m pretty sure the mid muffler delete is louder than the vibrant resonators but the vibrant resonators don’t have much rasp. (The rasp is not bad at all for the mid muffler delete) going down the road with the windows down mid muffler sounds great and doesn’t really get raspy at all, or at least I can’t tell from the inside. The only rasp I’ve heard was when doing revs in while parked, otherwise there’s barely any rasp
All the other videos say that you turn it counterclockwise to keep them open. Which way is it? I guess you have to test it before you tighten all the nuts down.
@@pfmustang The issue with the actuator on my 2015 scat pack I was advised today by the dealership to buy a kit for it. The main issue is that when I bought the car the other day for my wife it sounded really good but after they put a new actuator on it now the car is very quiet.
@@WWFNicky The actuator may have been loose. I read if your actuator is loose (or faulty or damaged and therefore loose), then you can hear a rattling noise at certain speeds/RPMs.
So I have not done this but i had code u1140 pop up and this is all that i can find that its related too you have any idea what the issue is or how to fix it?
Had mine on for over 6 months and that part doesn’t actually gets hot, but my exhaust started rattling pretty bad and the muffler guy said it was the valve delete. so I’m going to reinstall mine.
It has a little more bite to it.... im going this route now, was gonna go with the z automotive active exhaust delete for $200. Wonder how long the zip tie is going to last...🤔
Am I missing something or can't you just push the sport button and open them up? And have the same effect? Is there really any positive of doing this other than not having to press a button when you start the car each time?
Yes there is. Sport mode only opens it up about 70% and that’s not at idle. In order for the valves to be open all the time you would have to keep the car in track mode which I don’t want to do on the daily. So rather than having to push buttons as soon as I get in the car every time and drive it in track mode, I spent 5 minutes and wired them open, and it’s free 👍🏻
Your remote start wont work because of the engine light. I have a 17 charger and when you remove the springs from the active exhaust valves it throws up an CEL.
I don’t do any revs when it’s cold since it’s not good for the motor, but I can send you another cold start clip or some revs next time I drive it if you send me a message on IG
Without the spring the valve will just rattle and move around. The spring keeps it stable and either opened or closed. That’s why you need the zip tie to keep the valve permanently open and not rattling around.
Sometimes you want the exhaust sound but don’t want to drive it in sport since it changes the traction control, steering stiffness and suspension stiffness. Also sport doesn’t keep them 100% open all the time.
@@adrianrobles8289 Last time that happened to me it was just the valves being dry. I added white lithium grease in spray form and lubed everything up. If the valves keep squeaking you can always do this to permanently fix it, the only issue is the exhaust mode will always be in TRACK even if you're in street. The round spring that tensions things up wont be making that noise, it is more likely that the valve on the inside of the tubing is making the sound from the constant moisture and heat cycling.
Being it’s on the valve and not directly on the pipe, it doesn’t seem to be a problem. I haven’t had any issues so far and neither have a few other people who have done it. But if you have them handy, you can use metal zip ties and really have no problem 👍🏻
It's going to sound the same.. like it does.. because the valve's are open when the car is in park.. that's the default setting on the car during start up..and don't use zip ties on your 50+ thousand dollar car.. take some time and do it right
Why would it throw a code? Nothing is disconnected electronically; it's just removing the 2 springs that actually rotate the small doors open and closed. The system is still connected so the PCM would never notice the difference. It's actually a genius hack by this gentleman, I'm doing my 2021 Scat pack shaker widebody this weekend. Although I'm using stainless steel zip tie bands that will never melt or break. And, saving $200.00 too!
100% you're an idiot. The valve continues to stay open and the actuator still moves open and closed. It operates just like a throttle body. Just because you spent $200 for .30 cents worth of bypass wiring doesn't make you a genius. If you would've taken the time to take apart the actuator you'd know that all it takes is a removing the center spring, fix the exhaust valve, and remount it. I've had it like this for 3 years, the actuator opens and closes like normal, and I have never had a check engine light.
