- Cover of my favourite FOTC songs, how good is Julia Robertson in this? She saves me. Also huge thank you to powerhouse Davis Jensen, who usually films real movies with expensive and heavy cameras, but I believe flourished when I made him direct, shoot and edit from an iPhone.

The way that Tom changed the ending tone (around 2:35) is pure genius. That's exactly what I always thought the original song was always missing.

The “I thought I told you to shut up” is so much more like a tantrum and perfectly captures how they called him childish. It’s the best change I’ve seen in a cover to date
I think the original is perfect, as is Jemaine’s delivery of ‘I thought I told you to shut uh uh up’. But this is still good in that it doesn’t copy the original.
The song is fantastic. But why is this nice lady singing with a policeman?

It almost feels sacrilegious to say this, considering this is also my favorite FOTC song, but I actually prefer this version over the original… The way he hits the “I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU TO SHUT U-U-UUP” toward the end is so satisfying and honestly gives me chills. Fantastic cover!

I know what you mean, I think FOTC deliberately downplayed their production values to give it the feel of being a rough-around-the-edges thing made by just a couple of amateur lads trying to make it in the biz. I'm not trashing them by saying that, it's just the characters they were playing.
Tom's taken that and made it as clean and professional as he possibly could and it works, because the song itself is good enough to support that kind of treatment.
Also Julia's vocals are on another level, and the video is so cleanly produced. The whole team knocked this out of the park.

Totally agree. One of my favorite parts of any song to be honest. I love the zoom on his face when he says shut up, the sudden change from soft to loud with Julia’s angelic background vocals. Just so good

I never said I am against them working together. I'm just wondering what he would add to the mix, since this video was an opportunity to showcase ones talent and he didn't use it at all. He just tried to make an exact copy without any creativity of his own.

@@Burnz-de9of Maybe the point was that it's not a tremendous effort if you don't change the source material. It's the equivalent of drawing over another drawing using see-through paper. But people are easily amazed nowadays, so it seems.

I prefer this to the original. Like others have said, the extra emotion at the end sends the song to a new level. The video is really well edited and a fitting concept.
