- Chevrolet C10 long bed to short bed conversion update part 4 c10 square body chevy build Stock GMC Square body teardown lowered 4 inches in the front and 6 inches in the rear. Not a restoration. Maybe a preservation? We added drop spindles and a rear flip kit. 275/60R15 rear tires on the original rally wheels. We cut the frame 14 inches and added a short box. We will paint the red bed canyon copper metallic and tan two tone like the original and will add the stripe kit. In this video we will update our total cost so far on this squarebody project. Burnout And checkout the Rusty Duck Garage sponsored Chevy Monte Carlo Street Stock at the end of this video. ls

Some of the best looking trucks in Yamhill County.
Thumbs up Rusty Duck.
Thanks David!
I love square body's lowered a few inches with the factory rallies I think just gives the right look
I also really like the Rallys. We used to find them cheap everywhere. They are getting hard to find a nice set.
Looking good! Glad to see the young ones interested. 👍
Thank you! They seem to be excited about it.
Here in Yakima Washington the square bodies are everywhere! I have a few myself
Yes they are. I look at Craigslist in your area. Nice trucks.
Such a cool family project. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for watching!
22 year's ago I bought my first 75 Chevy C10 for 1200 I love these trucks
Right on!
Thanks for sharing. Love those budget builds. 👉🇺🇸👈 👊😎👍
Glad you like them! Its fun for me if we can keep the cost low.
going to be a nice truck , have a great day friend
Thank You! And you do the same.
Great job guys, amazing work. Truck looks great.
Thanks 👍
great job!, the truck came out great.. I have a long bed that I'm converting over to a short bed
Right on! Thank you.
@@RustyDuckGarage where you located i have a back sports bumper
One of my friends had a shortbed like that. He had a nice red paintjob on it, it was a nice truck. I almost crashed it one night on an icy road. I ended up in the ditch but somehow I got it back on the road. He kept telling me to drive faster just before I ditched it well he never complained about how slow I drove on icy roads again!
Great Story.
Your grandson will appreciate it more by buying it!
That's the plan!
Great job! You got me thinking about doing one. I just bought a long bed for a parts truck.
Go for it! Although it takes some planning and a lot of work.
Kool video I'm going to keep my 72 chevy long bed wish I could cut it but O well life sucks LOL stay safe.
Rudy long beds are cool!
Nice job guys!
Thank you and glad that you enjoyed the video!
Nice work
Thank you! Cheers!
Can make a video on how switch bed sizes and cut frames? On a 89 Chevy Silverado
I have not done a 1989. Not as easy. Most likely I will not be doing one.
@@RustyDuckGarage appreciate it
After your done you should repaint it in stock two tone color, but the factory blue and silver they had back then!
That would look good.
I like the look of the ride height as it is.I like your choice of tire sizes,I will go with that size on mine .The back wheels look wider than the front?
Looking good
Thanks 👍
1981 was the first year for those first generation Dodge Ram pickups like that brown one at the end of the video.
Kevin, See my other video with the Dodge D150.ua-cam.com/video/AXzk2syw4pY/v-deo.html
Do you have the exact spots of measurements to cut it to a short bed or the old pieces you cut off the truck so I can use for a reference
Good day brother. You guys did a wonderful job man. And you couldn't explain the process any better. Just a top-notch job 👍
Philip, Thank you so much 😀
Did you have to c notch frame for flip kit
I did not. However if you are going to haul any loads it will need a c notch.
Were you able to keep the stock gas tanks or did you have to trade them out for shorter ones?
This 1986 truck had two short tanks. My 1979 had long tanks that had to be changed.
Thats the tire sizes I want to run on my C10. I just picked up some BFG radials, pretty old but still decent in 235/60/15. a little smaller than the 235/70 + 270/60 but I'm going for a 5/7 drop so might look ok. I have the 15x8 rallies, did you just use the 15x8's in the back or did you have 15x10s?
also this was just 3 years ago and prices are insane! its 300cdn per tire for a new BFG radial.
as for cutting the springs to drop a vehicle, usually you don't cut 'per coil' and instead cut in inches. 1" cut off the spring (while uncompressed) should yeild 2" drop, so 2" cut off the spring for 4" drop.
8 inch rallies on all four corners. Yes the prices are insane!
Hermosa amigo !!
Thank you! I'm working on it.
On the front springs if you cut out 1 inch of height it gives you 2 inches of drop.🤠👍
I was just given a 3+3 square body and I think I’m just going to part it out because I don’t really need it! Couldn’t turn down a free truck 🤷🏼♂️
Nothing wrong with a free truck.
You say front tires rub.Where exactly do they rub?Only when turning on outer fender lip?Inner fender? Reason I ask is I'm about to significantly drop a truck like this, and am now concerned because I plan on even more of a drop in front.Ditching the inner fenders won't make me cry,nor will notching the inner skin of the outer panels. But the top or outer sidewall of the tire hitting the outer skins lip is a problem.
Brannon, On bumps it does rub on the inner fender. Minor rub on the fender opening edge that can be rolled for clearance.
@@RustyDuckGarage So,if I were to unbolt and remove the inner fenders altogether,it won't rub on bumps. If I rolled in the outer fender skin a bit,and maybe notch the inner skin,I'd buy room to rub less if any at all? Sounds good. Thanks for helpful tips.
7:08 I like this truck too, but early mid late 80s hood front fenders look better because they’re sloped, a lot of people don’t even realize that!
Thanks
Wtf!!!!
Hi guys
Good job
Thank you!
If you can't find a square body rear bumper the next replacement number would be one off of an OBS truck 88_91 but it needs the
mounting point brackets rearranged ...I mean cut n welded to fit...its essentially the same bumper unit but the 88 chassy is.about 1/2 in wider and holes on the bracket don't all line up but you're welding skill are up to par so.
That is good to know. Locally it is getting hard to find parts trucks.
@@RustyDuckGarage
I feel your pain... Remember 1988_1991 trucks only...92 n up trucks have different brackets.
I'm in San Jose .ca. picknpull yards in this area have 3 trucks
There's an 86 truck in Oakland ..1977 near santa Cruz .ca..and an 1981 in Fairfield .ca...but that's about it...about a handful of suburban but that rear bumper is too narrow...now the obs style trucks at wrecking yards are starting to run low as well...G luck. Thx for the content.
How much inches did u take off the driveline ?
None. But it is tight and should have an inch or so taken out.
What kind of paint did y’all use ?
Single stage paint in aerosol cans that the paint shop mixed for me. $20.00 per can.
Looks great 👍
Thank you! Cheers! Its coming along nicely.
I'm kinda fond of that dodge. I got an 83 I put a hopped up 383bb in
Fun Truck.
What did you do with the gas tanks for the gmc?
I re used them. This truck had the short 16 gallon tanks from the factory.
Nice job on your conversion, any idea what length driveshaft you need? Just cut my frame down also
I do not recall. And the truck is out in the cold rain and the shop is full. It may be awhile before I can check.
The short bed is off of a 1973 - 1978 year model because 1978 was the last year for the round shaped gas hole & flush exposed gas cap.
That is correct.
Cooper cobra is a good looking tire and last awhile
I always liked the BF Goodrich radial TA tires. However they are to expensive. I’ve never had an issue with the Cooper Cobra radial tires. Good tire at a good price.
Are the wheels 15x10?
No. 15X8 inch rallys all the way around.
Tengo c10 68 cuánto cuesta hacer la blazer$$??
Not for sale
Is that a 4/6 drop
Yes it is however the front is dropped a little lower than 4 inches.
Great videos I live in the Seattle Washington area, do you know anyone in this area who can do a conversion?
I do not. Search some of the Northwest C10 facebook groups. There is a guy in Idaho and one in southern Oregon that does.
En pasco hay una persona que puede aser ese trabajo
¿Cuál es el nombre de la persona en Pasco que puede hacer la conversión?
¿Cuánto costaría?
would you be interested in the project?
This truck is frickiinnn beautifullll🤩🤩🤩🤩
Thank you!!

Thank you.
Badass
Thanks NicK!
This one looks good compared to that green medium bed. 😂
thank you
Hey bud if you would private message me, if you’re interested I have a roll of the molding I bought from a flew market. It’s new in what was left of the pack. It’s not the precut so you’ll have to cut it to fit but I’ll donate it to the truck if you’ll cover the shipping. I’m located in north Mississippi.
Seth thank you very much for the offer!
I had my done for $1500
Sounds like a very fair price.
$2700 and it's still not a genuine swb lol
And the point is? Who cares if it's Genuine or not. It's called Custom. 😢
